Common Questions and Answers about Neupogen recall

neupogen

Avatar f tn So the doc finally agreed to a neupogen shot, after many delayed shots of pegasys. I was supposed to do a shot tuesday, however got bloodwork done today and anc is 620, Doc says to take neupogen tonight (I did, the neupogen is 300mcg, im ~130lbs) and get more bloodwork done on thursday, and then he'll call friday with whether or not to take the shot or not. So here I am, waiting, again. Arggg!
457651 tn?1208363102 On thursday it was my second chemo session but it couldnt be done because my white blood cell coutn was down to -9. They injected what i recall to be Neupogen. Since then, i am worthless. Ive had constant fatigue the entire thursday and friday. Now it is saturday at 4:33am and my back hurts very much. Ive tried tylenol, ibuprofen and it seems to do little for me. How long will this last? What other things cna i do to raise my white cells? Should i be drinking a lot of water?
Avatar m tn Think I recall someone saying it's important that the neupogen comes to room temperature when injecting, like the interferon. didn't know about using an alcohol swab after the injection, in addition to before. also didn't know that it's not necessary to put the needle cover back on before putting it into the sharps. Twenty-two injections so far and I can't believe I still have room in the container. Will it have room forever? Thanks for info.
1118724 tn?1357010591 t so faulty but I do recall my heptalogist telling me neupogen would cause my wbc to rise but only temporarily. That's why I had to keep taking the stuff which I personally hated. But you're right that each person needs the dosage tailored to fit. He also believed it was more important to watch my absolute neutrophil count than the wbc. Don't worry about the mush, as long as you keep your sense of humor.
Avatar f tn have been receiving aranesp and neupogen for the last 8 weeks to help with my anemia while going through treatment. My wbc, rbc, hemoglobin and ANC held steady for the first few weeks, then started increasing and now as of last week took a decline. My wbc's went from 3.4 to 2.3, rbc's went from 2.9 to 2.7, hemo went from 10 to 9.33 and ANC went from 1770 to 930 all in one week. Is that normal and why would that happen when they were on the incline?
495402 tn?1220617403 My feet and ankles are really swollen, just began noticing this the last couple of days. I'm on so many different meds that it's going to be hard to narrow it down. I've just started taking Neupogen and Procrit, the Procrit I've only done one shot so far and the Neuprogen, I've just completed shot number 3 last night. I take the Neuprogen twice a week and Procrit once a week.
Avatar f tn The Hematologist said he was going to start him on Neupogen is anyone else taking this and is it working for them. He also said that he may need a transfusion , which is freaking my husband out because that is how we suspect he contracted the Hep c orignally (back in the 80s). I told him that they screen the blood much differently now then they did back then , but he is still freaking out. Anyone who is taling Neupogen please let me know if it is helping.
1669790 tn?1333662595 Glad you got the hematologist on board! I never had to take Neupogen but I do recall hearing several people on here talk about the achy bones from it, at least initially. Keep marching...
179856 tn?1333547362 The contaminated product has the potential to cause serious problems, including dangerous blood clots, Amgen said in a press release announcing the recall. However, Amgen said there had been no complaints that can be directly attributed to the presence of glass. It said certain lots were being voluntarily recalled as a precaution.
Avatar f tn Yes, in a trial and they allow rescue drugs. They don't advertise it, they don't offer it, but it's available and I had to ask for them. The trial parameters still require dosage reductions below certain white and red counts. When they reduced my riba for one week, my doc put me on procrit - eprex in Canada - as a proactive measure to avoid the dosage reduction the trial requires when my hgb drops below 10.0. IF my lymphocytes are at or below .
Avatar f tn However, they are looking at it from the angle of how much they feel comfortable with introducing neupogen and I know none of them do from various angles and one of them, I personally feel, is not only their professional opinion that it will not help..but their inexperience, for some of them, in using neupogen. If you recall, I was astounded to learn that the one doc in particular has never treated anyone with both eprex/procrit and neupogen.
Avatar f tn ve been very concerned and ready to take whatever action required if they continue with my interferon reductions and ongoing refusals for my request fo neupogen. SO much happening at once and the doctor had refused my request for neupogen. Things have just been very *thick* lately...alot to deal with and I've been just hunkering down and doing that. Test results just got back ... and I'll cut to the chase first!!! I'm thrilled!!!!
493068 tn?1224765315 Do any of you have information about any long term side effects if you had Neupogen for 40 weeks?
Avatar f tn I just read that a lot of people try NOT to take Neupogen unless it is a necessity due to sx. I am on Neupogen and I take it 3 times a week and have been taking it for 8 mos. now. Does anyone know exactly why people/anyone would want to NOT take Neupogen? Your answers may provide some insight for me and my sx's.
Avatar n tn low blood count started neupogen injections to build up white blood cell count so I can have chemotherapy, can I drink beer with this?
Avatar f tn Just got the call this morning that my doctor wants to put me on Neupogen for 4 weeks because my white blood cells are so low. I'm so disappointed, I really wanted to be done shooting into myself!! Anyone else out there on this drug? I don't know a thing about it.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to receive Neupogen tomorrow. Did my peg shot this morning. I'm sure I will get instructions with the med but it's good to get some input from those who are currently treating with it. Are we supposed to wait 24 hrs after the peg shot to inject Neup? Should I inject more slowly than I do with Peg? Docs office told me to reduce peg today to 135 mcg but I didn't (me not listen - what a revelation) because I knew I was getting the Neup tomorrow.

1501377 tn?1291508678 Have been trying to cost what a ceiling amount might be for a 12 week period to see if I can organise sufficient funds. Neupogen in prepared syringes are sold in packs of 10 - $1504 for 3000mcg/.5ml shots and $2407 for 480mcg/.5ml shots. I realise that amount required is case dependant but wouldnt mind any info which might assist me to at least get some idea of the range which may generally apply.
Avatar n tn http://pi.amgen.com/united_states/neupogen/neupogen_ppi_pt_english.pdf Among other things: "Serious Allergic Reactions. NEUPOGEN can cause serious allergic reactions. These reactions can cause a rash over the whole body, shortness of breath, wheezing, dizziness, swelling around the mouth or eyes, fast pulse, and sweating. If you or your child starts to have any of these symptoms, stop using NEUPOGEN and call your doctor or seek emergency care right away.
Avatar m tn It has been one week since the last treatment and my WBC count is 900 (ninehundred) Can they now give me a neupogen shot. I would think they should take a count daily. and give Neupogen if it till it corrects.
691935 tn?1421027090 sorry, this is kinda late, but that's what my doc told me to do too. it made me really angry that i had made it to 40 weeks and they just wanted me to stop like that. i didn't stop and continued to finish the 48th shot. it's tough, but i think if you've made it so far, why not just finish the thing? neupogen and procrit really helped me although i'm still on neupogen almost 5 months post treatment.
