neupogen pi

I was just contacted by the NP and asked to reduce the pegasys from 180mcg to 135mcg since my WBC is 1.31 and Neutrophils .64. Any of you know if SP allows a patient to be treated with neupogen? I know they allow and pay for procrit but I'm not sure if they "allow" neupogen. I know they won't pay for neupogen but that's not the issue, my insurance would cover the cost.

I wanted to post the recent bloodwork (man, that labcorp test takes a while). I am now officially into week 4, and will do another PCR at the end of the week. pre tx: 2,300,000 2 weeks alinia 1,800,000 5 wks alinia and 1 1/2 wks riba: 400,000 2 wks w/peg added 50,000 So, it looks like I'm headed in the right direction. AST and ALT are now in the "normal" range.

Ok so here's the deal, I get a blood test two days before my shot. Last week the neutophils and wbcs were low so the doc had me delay my shot a couple days (I usually take it on friday, he had me wait till monday), I got a blood test on Monday and they went up a bit, so the doc let me take the shot (that was shot #11). I just got my lab results from this week back, and am a bit (ok ALOT) unsettled. The # of neutrophils is 0.67, bands%3, segs%23, wbcs 2.59K/uL.

That is why non-responders need to think very carefully before retreating with PIs. They might need to add more than a PI to the mix in a future tx. So if we are non-responders and perhaps even just partial responders, maybe we should wait for other PIs and polymerase inhibitors to be approved. Worth thinking about. As to "the first time you treat are the best results", I have wondered about this also.

I plan on talking to him (again) about neupogen tom, apparently he talked to a relative of mine and told them it is too late to start the neupogen now (was supposed to take shot tuesday but low neuts so doc said not to and to take a blood test thurs) but if it goes down again i could take it. BTW im on shot (well I should be on shot..

So you are just on interferon and ribavirin? Or are you on a PI too? That is the first question we'd need to ask.

t -- being used in the study as for example in an additional arm (make that 8 whew) where full dose Peg is used with Neupogen allowed, as opposed to an arm where full dose Peg is used without Neupogen. Trish, from your point of view the variables seem not just the drug itself but what arm you end up in and how that arm turns out, esp if it turns out that full dose peg turns out to be necessary.

I can definitely call them and should get a quick aswer about the epo but the PI is all still up in the air and I expect anyone I talk to wouldn't have an answer. I was just wondering what the legal recourse was in case of denial. Is this one of those ERISA things were insured have basically surrendered their ability to challenge or is there recourse?

I have a hemotologist/oncologist who is closely monotoring my Labs since I have been on Neupogen since wk 3. I am thrilled! I feel so much more confident for SVR now. Thanks to this forum and its members for educating me and giving me courage to be my own advocate.

Because it was a blind study with no procrit or neupogen allowed, with my blood counts low they had to lower the rib and interferon doses. I believe that was the difference between me not beating the dragon.

Do any of you have information about any long term side effects if you had Neupogen for 40 weeks?

I just read that a lot of people try NOT to take Neupogen unless it is a necessity due to sx. I am on Neupogen and I take it 3 times a week and have been taking it for 8 mos. now. Does anyone know exactly why people/anyone would want to NOT take Neupogen? Your answers may provide some insight for me and my sx's.

The Hematologist said he was going to start him on Neupogen is anyone else taking this and is it working for them. He also said that he may need a transfusion , which is freaking my husband out because that is how we suspect he contracted the Hep c orignally (back in the 80s). I told him that they screen the blood much differently now then they did back then , but he is still freaking out. Anyone who is taling Neupogen please let me know if it is helping.

low blood count started neupogen injections to build up white blood cell count so I can have chemotherapy, can I drink beer with this?

Just got the call this morning that my doctor wants to put me on Neupogen for 4 weeks because my white blood cells are so low. I'm so disappointed, I really wanted to be done shooting into myself!! Anyone else out there on this drug? I don't know a thing about it.

So the doc finally agreed to a neupogen shot, after many delayed shots of pegasys. I was supposed to do a shot tuesday, however got bloodwork done today and anc is 620, Doc says to take neupogen tonight (I did, the neupogen is 300mcg, im ~130lbs) and get more bloodwork done on thursday, and then he'll call friday with whether or not to take the shot or not. So here I am, waiting, again. Arggg!

I am supposed to receive Neupogen tomorrow. Did my peg shot this morning. I'm sure I will get instructions with the med but it's good to get some input from those who are currently treating with it. Are we supposed to wait 24 hrs after the peg shot to inject Neup? Should I inject more slowly than I do with Peg? Docs office told me to reduce peg today to 135 mcg but I didn't (me not listen - what a revelation) because I knew I was getting the Neup tomorrow.

It has been one week since the last treatment and my WBC count is 900 (ninehundred) Can they now give me a neupogen shot. I would think they should take a count daily. and give Neupogen if it till it corrects.

Was undetectable at 4 wks, and went on to finish the rest of the 24, during which time my WBCs dropped dangerously low so I was on regular doses of Neupogen as well. My 6-month post-tx labs showed the virus alive and well, which was a HUGE disappointment, because I felt so good, and was sure TX worked. Re-TXing wasn't an option, as my WBCs are still below normal, although everything else is normal, including AST/ALT.

Anyone get any help with bone pain and seems like a migraine after neupogen ? I am on my second shot and it's 4:30 am and I have been up all nite with a horriable headache and severe nausea. Will call docs today and ask for something.
