Neupogen how to inject

Common Questions and Answers about Neupogen how to inject

neupogen

Avatar f tn s good to get some input from those who are currently treating with it. Are we supposed to wait 24 hrs after the peg shot to inject Neup? Should I inject more slowly than I do with Peg? Docs office told me to reduce peg today to 135 mcg but I didn't (me not listen - what a revelation) because I knew I was getting the Neup tomorrow. About how long does it take to raise the whites? I will go for another CBC on Thursday so if I inject tomorrow will it work that fast?
1467213 tn?1304214305 I am in week 5 of the BI 201335 Trial. Got a call from the clinic with the news that my WBC is 2.7 and the trial requires lowering the peg from 190 to 135. I asked if I could use the rescue drug(s) instead of reducing but was told I had to reduce and could add Neupogen (rescue drug) beginning tomorrow. I picked up the neupogen tonight and didn't realize I'd have to inject it. Should I inject in the fatty part of my stomach or does it matter where I inject.
1654177 tn?1319838494 One day at a time, I am closer to SVR! This morning my doctor called and told me to inject the neupogen that has been in my refrigerator for 2 months. The first time my WBC count was low it was at .48 neutrophils. Now it is at .25, so I did neupogen this morning. I do feel more energetic, and a little quizzy, but I am glad, I have not caught a cold or flu yet this season. I am so grateful, thank you for all the support and stories you share on here.
782258 tn?1237510986 I’ve never had to use it personally; I do hear it burns a little on injection. I hear it helps to warm it in the palm of your hand and inject slowly to reduce any discomfort. Other than that, I believe it’s a similar injection. Most of the reports I’ve heard from patients is that it’s a relief when they finally start on it; usually they’re pretty anemic by the time they get it, and it gives most people relief.
Avatar f tn Your white blood cell count has dropped as a result of interferon. Some doctors recommend a dose reducing interferon, while others prefer neupogen to avoid a dose reduction. Most doctors actually look at the absolute neutrophil count (ANC) which is a better measure of the risk of infection. This number should be available on your CBC results and its good to monitor this throughout tx, along with your Hgb and platelets. Do you know what your ANC is?
1654177 tn?1319838494 Ok, it is Friday nighat at 1AM. Since my doctor is out of town until Tuesday, should I do injection #3 tonight, right now? and continue taking Ribavirn all weekend? Or should I stop all meds for 3 days and continue when my doctor gets back? My gut says to take my dose and inject. But then again, I am nervous. I also have latent TB, a postitive test, if my immune system is down, I am at rist to get active tubeerculosis? I am so indecisive right now.
Avatar f tn Several people here have used it. Actually, what gets whacked is a component of the WBC call neutrophils - sometime referred absolute neutrophils or ANCs. These are a separate line item on a CBC report. Docs invoke the use of Neupogen at at different levels. I found the use of Neup to be a non-event, no side effects. Others expereince bone pain and injection site soreness. It's much better to use Neupogen than to reduce the dose of the Peg.
Avatar m tn I have interferon/ribavirin; alinia (because I asked for it); neupogen for low white blood cell count. All covered by BCBS.
Avatar f tn Someone once posted a helpful video site on how to inject pegasys and I was wondering it there is any information on how to inject procrit. My last two hgb blood test results were 9.7 and 9.4 , so my doctor is going to order procrit for me. I am going to get procrit 40,000 units per ml per week. Is that the dose that everyone else is doing? Do you have to mix the solution or measure it out to inject ? My mind is a bit foggy these days....
Avatar f tn If possible, get him to inject you on the spot. This stuff can take a couple of weeks to create an apparent change. It will help.
1414174 tn?1304680526 While neupogen is indicated in that 300 - 500 range to bring white counts up, what matters is when your doctor will dig in the heels and insist on a dosage reduction - and how long it will take to get the neupogen in place if your doctor agrees to that. There is nothing wrong with taking neupogen before it gets to that 500 or lower range.
Avatar f tn My RN said to inject 2 inches away from the belly button....and below the waist.
547836 tn?1302832832 only on my 3rd shot and got a call from the pharmacy about when to deliver neupogen. i wasn't even aware of my drop in white cells until i called the clinic. my doc told me to go in for another lab tomorrow and if wbc stops dropping then i can postpone the neupogen. is this really early for neupogen? and will neupogen cause/ increase risk of leukemia? man, i wasn't aware tx would be so much work. i really hope the wbc would stop dropping.
457651 tn?1208363102 Wbc s are made in the big bones, They work twice as hard to produce to protect you. Causing bone pain Neupogen does the same thing, artifically but still causes a lot of pain!
Avatar f tn The nurse have told me no to inject myself this week.
302488 tn?1337551241 Having said that, there is much debate in the medical community whether or not HCV treating patients are at any further risk of developing infection even with a low ANC Neupogen is another very strong medication and always best to have a frank discussion with your doctor on wether o not he/she feels it is even necessary even if your level ever is too low Best of luck with your tx. Will.
1118724 tn?1357010591 James if your anc is 15.5 it "way" to high especially if it is from neupogen. You need to adjust your dose until it is at about 1000 which is a safe level. It's not suppose to be in the normal range when induced by neupogen, just in the low safe range. I discussed it with my doc when I was concerned that it went from 280 (.28) to 6500 (6.50) after many weeks of neupogen. last blood mine stabilized at 3500 after reduced dosage, still high but not crazy high.
1815939 tn?1377991799 The Procrit shot has this little grey rubber seal, which is broken, by the syringe, that is used to inject the Procrit with, and I have noticed that this makes the sharp point just a little bit more dull, so it hurts a bit, going in (more then the inf shot needle) Also, the Procrit burns as it goes in, but it is the least of all of our sx, it's just unpleasant for a minute.
Avatar f tn We could expound forever here, but I am trying to figure out how theoretical you are being. My doctor wants me to take neupogen when my ANC is under 1.0 -- because I have early cirrhosis. I don't like it and I don't do it that often. I only took it 9 times is 48 weeks. Only about 5 times was my ANC under .8 this tx and I just didn't see the point so I didn't do it. What happens if your shot only lasts 2-3 days? If really depends on what your ANC was to begin with.
