neupogen hair loss

The PA who was instructing me on the self injections warned me that some patients shave their hair off completely because of the hair loss. My question is... for those of you that have experienced the hair loss- when does it stop? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your posts. I guess I am lucky because I have been taking Neupogen 3 times a week for 8 mos. now and I do not have any bone pain or aches of any kind. They almost upped it to 4 times a week at one point. My sides are basically, feeling weak and tired with no motivation or ability to do much. Every now and then I become very emotional and have a day of crying outbursts. I feel sick to my stomach a lot.

m on Gemzar now too with the 3 week on 1 week off frequency. I think the hair loss is when it is given in combo with carboplatin. My hair was so thin from Doxil and Topotecan that I don't see any difference with the Gemzar. I am really nauseaus and tired the first three days and then I start getting better, just in time to get whacked again. However, preliminary results are positive while Topotecan was worthless for me and made me always feel lousy.

I am not on chemotherapy but I have to take Neupogen 2x/week at 480mcg a shot. The bone pain I have is horrible, the weirdest pain I have ever had before. My bone marrow gets so swollen that I can actually feel my heart beat in my femur, pelvis and ribs. That happens if I get up too fast, or bend over. On top of that I have the "bone aches and sharp zings" of pain for a day and a half after a shot. The first night I woke up shaking, because of the pain my body was experiencing.

Most doctors will suggest antidepressants(ADs) and will start you on them before you begin treatment for the HCV. I did not take ADs, but had ativan for anxiety. I don't know of any med that will prevent the hair loss, but not everybody loses hair and it does grow back. As far as myalgia, don't worry unless/until it happens and then your doctor will have to find a liver-friendly pain med.

Getting close to the end of study, red and white blood cell not so good. Procrit and neupogen added to tx. This was my second go round with tx. First was standard tx., non responder. Lost half of my hair this time and much more fatigued. Curious to see how others sx have been.

I had my haircut (because it was falling out) and my stylest felt two swollen lymph nodes when she was washing my hair. i feel them now, and have a call into my doctor? just wanted to know if anyone else had this?

Low iron levels can cause hair loss. You might want to get that checked.

I'm losing hair too. Not in clumps but I clog the drain once a week from my hair loss. And all my friends said their hair was so full and healthy during pregnancy and after lost some. I get a ball of hair during evey wash and its not normal for me also my scalp itches like crazy and I don't have bugs lol o had my husband check lol!

Especially after combing my hair,there is a ton of hair in the sink. However my hair seems to be growing as fast as it falls out so I have thickness still. Someone told me to drink more milk and I find on the days that I do I see less shedding.

It makes me depress everytime i see how plenty of hair i loss. I tried every hair fall shampoo but none of those worked. I don't wanna comb my hair anymore.

I actually posted about this a month or so ago. I have hair loss that really started post Tx. My hair didn't grow hardly at all during Tx, than about 6 weeks post Tx it really started falling out, probably lost 50%. Everyone says it should grow back fine after 6 months post Tx. I figure it is the least of my worries. Looking for my SVR12 in 3 weeks. Hang in there.

On a 12 week treatment with peg , ribavirin and sovaldi should I experience hair loss ? I am a hairstylist with very long thick hair ,still planning on working . Not planning to tell clients about treatment ,mostly due to fear they will not understand . How much hair loss should I expect?

But, every few years my thyroid just burns out, and I go hypo. When I do I experience extreme hair loss and brittle nails. For me, the animal based thyroid substitutes work much better when I'm in a hypo phase. Additionally, sometimes when I am not hypo, the medication I take for my Graves' just knocks down my T4/T3 levels so low that once again I start to lose a lot of hair.

I start tx this Friday...I was wondering how bad the hair loss is. I have really long hair and I usually donate to Locks of Love. I donated not long ago so my hair is shorter than usual but still long enough to donate. At what point will I know if I will suffer significant hair loss....I'll would rather just cut off the rest and donate it before I let it fall out and get caught in the shower drain. Gator...
