neupogen

1363928 tn?1285081663 In this single-center cohort study, 2,876 visits of 321 patients treated with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin were evaluated for neutropenia, infections, dose reductions, and potential risk factors for infection during HCV treatment. The baseline mean absolute neutrophil count (ANC) was 3,420 cells/μL, and 16 patients had a baseline ANC of <1,500 cells/μL. During treatment, neutropenia, which was defined as ANC <750 cells/μL, was observed in 95 patients (29.
Avatar m tn Several questions were raised in the thread: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-C/What-is-absolute-Neutrophils/show/1280368 about the causes of HCV treatment induced neutropenia (low neutrophil counts) and I thought it would be interesting to learn more about this part of treatment. Specifically, they are: - what is the incidence of neutropenia due to interferon monotherapy? - what is the incidence of neutropenia due to ribavirin monotherapy?
Avatar f tn Neulasta which is presently used for chemotherapy induced neutropenia. I know that this may be an off-label indication for the drug but it is worth discussing with your doctor. Imagine, if you can somehow lessen the shots, then this may help minimize the side effects. Regards.
1253246 tn?1332073310 When I read about this a while back, the summary I remember is that while interferon alone can reduce your neutrophil count, it is typically not responsible for neutropenia. The effect of ribavirin is more prone to cause neutropenia but taking them together increases the risk significantly. I am not sure how boceprevir would enter into this equation since I'm ignorant about the drug.
Avatar f tn Ok so I've been on cephalaxin for 10 days, went off for 1 day, and now infection is back so skin doctor wants me to do another 10 days. Just got blood test results, neutophils are around 600, so doc doesn't want me to take shot until I have more blood work done. I am ten weeks into treatment, and I don't understand why neupogen isn't an option. I go for my twelve week test in two weeks and am already nervous about that.
766573 tn?1365166466 org/posts/Hepatitis-C/Does-neuprogen-lower-platelets/show/1786217#post_8219349 I am wondering (in the case of cirrhotics) since your doctors did not prescribe Neupogen and opted for an antibiotic if any of you had to lower your dose of Peg? I understand I cannot apply the circumstances in your situations to mine but my ANC is only .6 and I am supposed to lower my Peg (not sure the amount but there is a notation on my labs) & start the Neupogen when it arrives.
Avatar m tn 6 so they gave her Neupogen and stopped capecitabine for 4 days. They gave her a longer-acting version of Neupogen before round 3 and lowered the dose of oxa to 90%. Before round 4 her neutro was back down at .9. They gave her more Neupogen and started round 4 today. Now here is the problem: Docs want to stop oxa round 5 onward for fear of 'long-term damage to her bone marrrow' which I don't find very convincing.
1382010 tn?1279643604 Just wanted to give a little moral support.... When I got to 40 weeks I thought, "at last, almost done!" and then the time proceeded to crawwwllll along. It seemed that every day lasted a week and when people would ask "how much longer?' it seemed the answer never changed. The realization hit that, even though I'd had 9 mos of postitive news, chances are good that the virus will return as soon as treatment is over. I know what you mean about being in a funk.
Avatar m tn My insurance pays a big deal, buy it is still costing me $200 a month for this at walgreens, I cannot afford this through the whole cycle of ribavirin and pegasys. Is there any way to get around this cost?
Avatar f tn (I really love him) is pre-treating me with Neupogen for one month. He said my neutrophils were so low that I would not be a candidate for tx. So he will try to get them up. Sounds like we're in the same boat. My ANC bounces a bit, but hangs low. It has gone up to 1800 on its own before. I'm glad you posted this and glad you are on track and feeling better. Sounds like you're in good hands.
892215 tn?1389718706 I have been on treatment now for going on my 4th month. 691935 tn?1421027090 I went all the way to zero. It was a very scary time. I would push for neupogen or neulasta instead of reducing. Good luck.
1717054 tn?1316712653 Most people respond very quickly to neupogen, so there should be no reason for dose reduction or stopping trt. Some people have some minor sx from neupogen, but I haven't experienced any. I have no experience with platelets, so hopefully those more knowledgable can help there.
1118724 tn?1357010591 i have been on neupogen for months 1st 3 shots in 3 days + now 1 a week but wbc not holding for a week any more dr said maybe 2 x a week when do do stop is ther an end to th neutropenia???? i got this from 20 weeks of i.v ????
1653406 tn?1302383455 JRenquist- interferon as used for HCV can cause significant neutropenia (reduction of certain white blood cells) in about 25-30% of HCV patients undergoing antiviral therapy; and to some degree in nearly all. It’s managed with another injectable drug ‘Neupogen’, or by dose reduction of interferon. This can make us more susceptible to bacterial infection.
Avatar m tn No never had to, lets hope they ok the Neupogen fast as bill said it works really quick and this is only a one or two week thing. Once i set the redi-pen at a lesser dose by mistake and emailed my doctor about it, he laughed and said not to worry about it, wasn't going to cause a problem and it must not have.
Avatar f tn The neupogen makes me feel so bad. for about 2.5 days. Is there a chance you can wean off the neupogen early? It does keep my wbc up. but it I could even skip it for the last 2 wks, I would! Any ideas out there?
Avatar f tn Buy your own Neupogen.
