Neupogen dosing

Common Questions and Answers about Neupogen dosing

neupogen

Avatar m tn The most common are injectable meds Neupogen and Neulasta. Neulasta is the pegylated version of Neupogen. Referred to as colony stimulating factors they are both effective in raising the absolute neutrophil count, which is the usually the focus component of the white cell count. Generally speaking, these meds will temporarily raise the counts and then the treament meds effects will usually repeat. So, the use of Neup and Neu will probably not be one-time events.
Avatar f tn have been receiving aranesp and neupogen for the last 8 weeks to help with my anemia while going through treatment. My wbc, rbc, hemoglobin and ANC held steady for the first few weeks, then started increasing and now as of last week took a decline. My wbc's went from 3.4 to 2.3, rbc's went from 2.9 to 2.7, hemo went from 10 to 9.33 and ANC went from 1770 to 930 all in one week. Is that normal and why would that happen when they were on the incline?
1986676 tn?1329862471 I started it in September and I remember you were in so much pain from already frequent Neupogen dosing. You really managed to soldier on since then. I was so scared. I only had to take it 3 - 4 times and it was awful and now here you are FIVE months later still on it. Every three days. Girl you have a lot to be proud of. Sorry your Aunt is like that but glad you are doing OK and hanging in thereā™«.
Avatar m tn Yes, Dr D thought my response was very fast. I didn't realize that most people took 2 - 6 weeks. If that is the case then I agree with your entire conclusion.
3093770 tn?1389739126 Some doctors are inflexible, but hopefully he will listen and provide you with a good rationale in his dosing protocol. I was on neupogen for over 40 weeks, most of them 2x per week. I didn't want to do any dose reductions, nor did my doc, so this was he course of action. Now that I'm SVR I have no regrets. Read up and go into your appt prepared to make your case. Good luck.
Avatar f tn 9 yes NYG reminded me about tylenol and I have been taking more because of neupogen at night. Neupogen is evil, and look at my WBCs! They are still in alarm after two a week!
1747881 tn?1546175878 I am in a trial that will be comparing ribavirin dosing, weight based compared to concentration controlled based on AUC 0-12 after first dose. http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01097395?
Avatar m tn The one thing I learned from both his old posts as well as OHs is how tricky the timing can be with Neupogen. I knew out the outset to be vigilant about the timing of my labs and the Neupogen dose. Even though this was only weeks ago I see I saved myself some time and discomfort since I knew what to ask and what to look for when I started this med.
Avatar m tn This shows the dosing information for neupogen while on hcv tx. According to this information the neupogen should be stopped or taken less often if the anc is over 1000. Mine was at 6500 after five injections, and my doc tells me to keep taking the neupogen. 1742929 tn?1311164933 On wk 14 of triple therapy & und at wk 4 & wk8, but last week has been miserable. Am on neupogen 1X per wk & red cells at 9.4, had riba cut from 1000 to 600 at wk 7. Doctor will not increase riba till I am at least at 10(red blood ct.). Feel like I am going to war with half the amount of solders but can't fathom "quality of life" if riba is increased. Will do what I must, cause this is my last attempt at treatment...4th treatment, always a non-responder..
Avatar f tn Yup, it's crazy! I have CAREMARK prescription drug insurance AND I am in a clinincal trial (with no-cost tx meds), but when my ANC went below 500 and my doc ordered the "rescue" drug neupogen, neither the Trial nor my insurance would cover it. Check, double-check and triple check to make sure you know how much you might have to pay out of pocket for tx.
1118724 tn?1357010591 Recent background story: On 02/17 two blood tests were run. Standard CBC and on for VL (currently status unknown). The CBC showed several factors low (PL @ 43) but the one they pulled me off treatment for was WBC of 1.5. That's what they said. Posting in here that information returned lots of info, advice, and support from all the good people around. The conclusion reached was 1.5 WBC was in 'reduce dosage' area, with 1.0 being definite stop treatment.
Avatar f tn YIPPPPPIIIII - that is awesome - can't wait to say that! Major Congrats!
Avatar f tn Are you sure there were 2 shots a week of neupogen? Recommendations are not to take the shots more frequently than 1 every 3 weeks. Your levels are low and should be attended to but not at super-panic level. I guess I'm not sure why they stopped you. Have you not cleared the virus yet and they just decided the wear and tear was not worth it?
244899 tn?1313624639 2 and np made me get on neupogen but i did neupogen shot on saturday and cbc on monday showed wbc already at 4.6!!! I said in my post that I swear the night I did the shot the sores in the corner of my mouth literally healed overnight! The procrit takes a couple of weeks they say and since all my numbers cont. to go down i had to stay on 800 riba for now. My ins approved procrit and neupagen at 100% which was amazing.
Avatar m tn I have read that the reductions seen thus far have not reflected status approaching EOT12, with Sovaldi therapy. I understand how you feel as I would also be nervous too, but according to stats so far, it has been an unissue What is your hmg showing? Dosage reduction was mentioned for me when hmg was hovering around 10. WBC was not brought up or neuts, but know they go hand and hand. I'm a female weighing 110, and my dosing for the Riba was 1200 daily. I did in fact reach SVR 12 EOT .
493068 tn?1224765315 Do any of you have information about any long term side effects if you had Neupogen for 40 weeks?
Avatar f tn I just read that a lot of people try NOT to take Neupogen unless it is a necessity due to sx. I am on Neupogen and I take it 3 times a week and have been taking it for 8 mos. now. Does anyone know exactly why people/anyone would want to NOT take Neupogen? Your answers may provide some insight for me and my sx's.
Avatar f tn The Hematologist said he was going to start him on Neupogen is anyone else taking this and is it working for them. He also said that he may need a transfusion , which is freaking my husband out because that is how we suspect he contracted the Hep c orignally (back in the 80s). I told him that they screen the blood much differently now then they did back then , but he is still freaking out. Anyone who is taling Neupogen please let me know if it is helping.
Avatar n tn low blood count started neupogen injections to build up white blood cell count so I can have chemotherapy, can I drink beer with this?
Avatar f tn Just got the call this morning that my doctor wants to put me on Neupogen for 4 weeks because my white blood cells are so low. I'm so disappointed, I really wanted to be done shooting into myself!! Anyone else out there on this drug? I don't know a thing about it.
Avatar f tn So the doc finally agreed to a neupogen shot, after many delayed shots of pegasys. I was supposed to do a shot tuesday, however got bloodwork done today and anc is 620, Doc says to take neupogen tonight (I did, the neupogen is 300mcg, im ~130lbs) and get more bloodwork done on thursday, and then he'll call friday with whether or not to take the shot or not. So here I am, waiting, again. Arggg!
Avatar f tn I am supposed to receive Neupogen tomorrow. Did my peg shot this morning. I'm sure I will get instructions with the med but it's good to get some input from those who are currently treating with it. Are we supposed to wait 24 hrs after the peg shot to inject Neup? Should I inject more slowly than I do with Peg? Docs office told me to reduce peg today to 135 mcg but I didn't (me not listen - what a revelation) because I knew I was getting the Neup tomorrow.
