Neupogen and procrit

Common Questions and Answers about Neupogen and procrit

neupogen

Avatar f tn How low does the red & white cells need to be before they give you procrit? I just got my test and red is 9.1 and white is 2.9. it keeps dropping and I'm exhausted, I get another one in 2 weeks.
1051842 tn?1253997592 I didn't have any sides from Procrit. The neupogen gave me a slight fever and bone pain in my legs. It really wasn't too bad at all. And it got better with time. You may have to take these drugs for the entire length of treatment although I hope not. You're lucky you're not having sides from interferon. Feel better soon.
Avatar f tn 5 and she probably did suggest Neupogen. Sounds to me like he needs both and pretty darn quickly. She seems to be of the opinion that a transfusion will be needed for the low hemoglobin. At 7.3 he must really be dragging. Mine has never gotten that low but a lot of folks are experiencing this on the triple. So how is this going to work out? You said the GI is not going to reduce ribavirin doseage. I think the insurance company will get in the middle of this -- they sure did with me.
244899 tn?1313624639 Im starting procrit this week. Im on daily infergen and weekly nuepogen. The nuepogen side effects just floor me for a full day after taking it. My body aches and I cant get out of bed. Im just wondering if anyone else gets side effects from procrit?
Avatar m tn you are 67 kilos and your dose should be 1000 riba if you taking pegintron. If you are on pegasys I believe the program is different. Your hgb is not low enough to be concerned, if it goes under 10 then you should be given procrit rather then a dose reduction to keep the level between 10-11 hgb. I believe that the recommended weight based dosage for riba is 12 mg per kilo, at 800 you are at 11.94 per kilo, at 1000 you are at 14.
3093770 tn?1389739126 they can give u neupogen. Neupogen is for white and procrit is for red. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn have been receiving aranesp and neupogen for the last 8 weeks to help with my anemia while going through treatment. My wbc, rbc, hemoglobin and ANC held steady for the first few weeks, then started increasing and now as of last week took a decline. My wbc's went from 3.4 to 2.3, rbc's went from 2.9 to 2.7, hemo went from 10 to 9.33 and ANC went from 1770 to 930 all in one week. Is that normal and why would that happen when they were on the incline?
1467213 tn?1304214305 I dont know about Neupogen but I am on Procrit which is a sub-cutaneous injectable and I was told to do it in the same area in the stomach that I do my interferon shots. You could probably look on line on how to give those shots. Call the pharmacy even find a 24 hour one and see if the pharmacist can give you any information. make sure you do it right! Im sure if you can wait someone will chime in that has actually done it if you can get the info else where.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has heard of neupogen raising HGB. The reason I ask is because my NP told me that was so and I've never heard of this. My WBC are low and I have to take the neupogen....just recently my HGB dropped from 10.7 to 9.8 in ten days. When I asked if this was a problem the nurse told me to just take the neupogen and that would help..well it hadn't helped in the past so I don't know why it should now.
Avatar m tn Yes, you inject in the same manner as INF. I used to save my thighs for INF and use my belly for the Neupogen and Procrit. It is the procrit that you want to let come to room temperature as it burns going in. The neupogen does not. I had no visable side effects from the neupogen although after I completed treatment and was still doing the Neup for a few weeks to bring up the whites, I noticed the side effects (bone aches).
Avatar f tn I only got one injection of the neupogen in before treatment ended so can't speak to that except the procrit and neupogen were done on alternate days from each other and from the interferon. That's alot of drugs to pump into a body in one day and spacing them out is a good idea. I understand the neup is much faster acting than the procrit. Good luck with the neupogen and hope it helps.
1113735 tn?1273174430 It seems like a lot of us have had insurance issues over the rescue drugs. Not the neupogen but the procrit. These are new medicines and the doctors are still feeling their way. However, the hemoglobin is dropping fast -- really fast -- with the PIs and many have HGB in the 8s by week 4. . I think a lot of doctors still think everything will even out after the Incevik is over and they don't want to rx procrit. It does come with its own set of warnings.
1501377 tn?1291508678 (will I need shots daily, weekly etc) If anyone here has had neupogen and are prepared to share their details I would be interested and appreciative. This may be a fools errand and I may not be able to calculate anything sufficiently meaningful at all - but thought I would at least explore this. Would also be interested in any info (tx details /costs) around Epo and Eltrombopag (Promacta in US) if others have had any exposure to these.
Avatar m tn Do I take it the same in the stomach or thigh the I take neupogen and interferon? I I took my INF yesterday, is it okay to take the procrit today? How long does it take to work, I've heard 2 weeks. My hgb was 7.7 on friday when they took blood. Thanks for advice!
Avatar f tn Has any one gotten bone pain with procrit? I took a second shot of procrit yesterday and my leg bones are killing me. I have had joint pain but this is something else. I have been taking all the tylenol I can take it helps some but not enough .
495402 tn?1220617403 ) You might want to ask your doctor if he/she can prescribe aranesp and neulasta instead of procrit and neupogen. They are both long-acting and the injections are only oncde every few weeks. I do think they are more expensive so your insurance might give you trouble, but it's worth a try.
Avatar m tn Why will your doctor not prescribe you any rescue drugs such as Neupogen for your white count or Procrit for your red count? My hgb went in the tank very early on in treatment and I was prescribed Aranesp injections every 2 weeks. My Aranesp prescription was written the minute my hgb hit 10.5 and by the time I got through all the insurance red tape my hgb was 9.8. My ANC went as low as 700 but I managed to avoid dose reduction or neupogen.
Avatar f tn I guess I was lucky, I had to take both Neupogen and Procrit .......
Avatar f tn 000 Ribavarin. Procrit 60 split over a 20 and 40, Neupogen every six days. Though till last week, it was x2. a week. My question is: Will Neupogen cause additional thinning to my bones? I have been unable to find any information concerning this. I also have a question concerning hormone replacement, and Hep C. but will ask that at a later date. I am genotype 1a, this is my 3rd. time txing, first time using neupogen.
