Avatar n tn Hi Ms Vanessa Lacuesta, So do u say that my hair loss is due to the dandruff I have? I am fine with dandruff and itchy scalp because shampooing everyday really helps. Avatar f tn I tried a bunch of more heavy duty OTC shampoos for dandruff, but none worked. I used an essential oils scalp massage and that worked for a bit. Now it is out of control and driving me crazy. One interesting note, at Christmas time I dyed my hair with one of those "intense" colour hair colourings. It burned and tingled my scalp, but afterward my scalp problems were gone for about 4 weeks. No itching, flaking or soreness.
Avatar n tn The internet has many sites that say natural methods like mayonnaise, vinegar, and natural oils can be used to smother the louses and neutralize the nits. I would like for someone to share a real testimonial with me on how to defeat this agonizing pest, and I advise you to do your own homework on the subject and not waste hundreds and thousands of dollars on over the counter remedies.

Avatar f tn Seborrheic dermatitis is a very common condition, it can be on scalp, face, ears. It's treated with anti dandruff shampoos and topical steroids for the itching. I would try some hydrocortisone cream and see if that helps, if so then go to your doctor toget a Rx for a maintenance medication.

Avatar n tn I am a licensed cosmetologist and let me tell you; dandruff is caused by a FUNGUS. Dry skin & dandruff are two completely unrelated hair diseases. I have experienced exactly what you are going through right now and you must treat it as dry skin not dandruff. Selsun blue won't do you any good because it contains a medication used for treating the dandruff fungus. Head and shoulders may help because it is targeted for dry, itchy scalp.
