dandruff

Avatar n tn I think because of the extremely dry cold weather, I've been using very hot water in the shower.......so my scalp has been a bit dryer than normal. Especially near the front by the hairline, its got a white flaky look to my scalp and I've also noticed a very pink look to the skin around the area which also has been flaky......... What's happening to me and what should I do? I tried tea tree oil on the flaky skin, but I don't think its helping much......
876805 tn?1240185863 s pretty much for scalp issues such as oily scalp, dry scalp dandruff, psoriasis..) and then this conditioner called american classic tea tree conditioner.. it's absolutely amazing, the first time i used it i could FEEL the difference, it was like such a relief to my scalp. The first one whatever is in it soothes my scalp and then the tea tree oil does something else that helps, no idea what but it feels so much better. Hope that helps a little bit!!
Avatar f tn ve been thinking there might be another problem- When I run my fingers brought my scalp to massage it (with oils) at night, hairs often part with my scalp. They have a flaky piece of the scalp root or something attached. Is the dandruff making my hair unable to grow properly and his fall out easily? Or is it just a side effect of a bigger cause?
Avatar n tn Hi, It could be dandruff, which sometimes does affect the armpits or dry skin. Dandruff is due to the excessive shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp. As it is normal for skin cells to die and flake off, a small amount of flaking is normal and in fact quite common. Malassezia(yeast) lives on the scalps of most healthy adults without causing problems.

Avatar f tn Hello, This can be due to dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis. Dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help.
Avatar f tn I tried a bunch of more heavy duty OTC shampoos for dandruff, but none worked. I used an essential oils scalp massage and that worked for a bit. Now it is out of control and driving me crazy. One interesting note, at Christmas time I dyed my hair with one of those "intense" colour hair colourings. It burned and tingled my scalp, but afterward my scalp problems were gone for about 4 weeks. No itching, flaking or soreness.
Avatar f tn I do not have a greasy scalp, dandruff, or head lice . I need help with the itching. I, too, have tried different shampoos, including those with tea tree oil in them and others for so-called dry, itchy scalp-but it's usually for dandruff users. I was hoping some one could recommend something for relief until I can see a dermatologist in November; for another issue.
Avatar n tn All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out. Dandruff shampoo should be used every few days, and you may need to try several shampoos before you find one which works.
Avatar n tn My scalp is always dry and flaky, as well as my face, especially around my eyebrows, forehead, and hairline. I have tried everything in the book-steroid foams, creams, lotions, shampoos, salicylic acid, sulfur, you name it. I cannot even put on my makeup without first slathering cream and aquaphor ointment on my face. I get microdermabrasion once every two weeks, and have even had UV light therapy.
Avatar f tn Does he wear a hat or cap as he could be allergic, also any new shampoo /hair gel recently , stop putting anything on his head and see if it clears up ...
Avatar n tn I have a quarter sized red inflamation on my scalp right at the top of my forehead. It itches and stings a little. But i've always had really bad dry scalp and dandruff. Also I noticed that my lymph nodes. (the ones behind my ears and at my jaw line are swollen. Its like raised bruises. I got some dandruff shampoo to hope that it will help but some people are telling me I should go to the doctor. I'd like to avoid paying the fees if at all possible.
Avatar n tn I have been suffering from dandruff for more than 10 years. I have tried Nizoral, coal tar, head and shoulder, selsum blue etc but nothing seems to help. Especially in 3 area in my head near the centre, I big circle of dandruff forming. They can be almost the size of dime. Its thicken , raised flaky transparent skin layer with dots. I have been noticing this for atleast 4 years now. I scratch and take it out but it rebuilds in just couple of day in the excact location.
Avatar f tn ve experienced extremely dry and flaky scalp. Can you look at these photos and tell me what it is? Dry scalp, dandruff, scalp psoriasis, or seborrheic dermatitis. The bad part is, I just washed my hair on Monday night. I washed it, conditioned it, put a little of olive oil (food-grade), then I braided my hair in about 8 plaits. I have to wash my hair every week b/c of my scalp. I'm unable to wear twist-outs/braid-outs or any hairstyle that requires me to wear my hair out.
Avatar n tn I have a skin rash all thoughout my scalp and when I rub my scalp I cover the desk with Dandruff. I also have a butterfly rash across my face which comes and goes on a daily basis. This rash extends to my eyebrows and is characterised by flaky skin. I have been using oroxine for two years but when I take it seems to flair up my face and when I ease off it my scalp flairs up. The rash doesn not itch. I am in a quandry. Dont get me wrong though I am still a very handsome fella.
687194 tn?1244811182 I have a very very itchy and flaky scalp. I have tried all the OTC remedies, Sea Breeze and Tea Tree Oil. It is driving me crazy. I wake up in the middle of the night sratching my head. I do not have this problem anywhere else on my body except the scalp. I have to constantly wipe my clothing off. I color my hair but have for years. I have not changed my shampoo or hair products at all. Can someone tell me about a remedy that will help...I will try just about anything!
Avatar m tn Only within the last few months, I've been getting dry flaky spots on my face. If I scratch them off, there's a red dot underneath, and if I use a drying soap, it looks like a crater later. I also get scabs and sore spots on my scalp, which a dermatologist told me was seborrheic dermatitis. Is this the same thing? Would it have spread to my face for some reason? Avatar f tn Hello all, I've had this issue for as long as I remember and can't figure out what it is... I have black hair, so it is especially noticeable. I consistently have tiny white tubes around my hair strands... they are not numerous, and tiny (1-2mm long) and if you are standing at a normal speaking distance you probably would not notice them. They quite literally wrap around my hair...
Avatar n tn hi, Seborrhoeic dermatitis is a skin disorder affecting the scalp, face, and trunk causing scaly, flaky, itchy, red skin. It particularly affects the sebum-gland rich areas of skin. The treatment for Seborrheic dermatitis is effective and there are many options available. You may discuss with your doctor the options that work best for you. Plant therapy has been tried, but none of them have been certified yet.
Avatar n tn I will appreciate if some one can help me to treat this problem. There is lot of white dandruff flakes on my eyebrows and scalp.
Avatar m tn I have also been suffering from dry skin in general and dandruff on my scalp, not sure if this is all related. I have tried to gently exfoliate in the upper pubic area, use a thick moisturizer and hydrocortisone cream but the rash keeps coming back. Please help.
Avatar m tn I'd say I have a dandruff problem but that would imply that my itchy scalp is the only problem area. I get flaky skin on my arms, chest, eyebrows, and especially my legs. If someone so much as brushes against me it snows little white flakes everywhere. I've been to a dermatologist a couple of times but I've yet to find a medicated shampoo or moisturizer that even makes a dent.
Avatar m tn I also noticed that sometimes when pulling my hair back, I would feel a bit of pain from what felt like individual hairs which never happened before. Dandruff and dry skin on the scalp also began showing up which was very rare for me. As or now, it feels and looks like I have lost about 50 % of hair volume mostly in the front as well as had my hairline recede at least within 2 months.
