He has 2 boys from his previous marriage. The youngest has a lot of skin issues and has contracted MRSA. Since meeting my husband, we have all had bouts with boils caused by MRSA. We've tried just about everything.. and we really just deal with them now. Get on antibiotics, put the mupirocin in the nose, etc. I had a couple boils over a year ago.. then didn't have anymore for probably 10 months.. then here in the past 3 months..
I had a nasal swab test done four years ago which came back positive for staph aureus, though doctors did not mention MRSA. Over the next few years I went to other doctors and a dermatologist, given such medications as bactrim, clindamycin, doxycyclin, mupirocin ointment, etc. None have worked. I went to a primary care doctor last week who performed a general bacterial culture on one of the sores I squeezed and sent of to the lab.
The physician could not tell whether it was a bite, but was more concerned that it might be community-based MRSA and gave me a prescription for Mupirocin. I went to a dermatologist on Monday and again she was not sure what it was. The first lesion is nearly healed, but I've had about 3 others appear on the same arm which are healing.
Yesterday I discovered a larger lesion, which was scaly, circular with the small hole in it.
s not bad now but I would like to treat it on my own, and I still have some Mupirocin 2% topical cream left. Will this work? Again I would like to avoid the doctor again because I am an 18 year old girl and I'm very embaressed about this.... Please respond ASAP. THANK YOU.

My husband and I have dealt with nearly 20 MRSA infections in the past two years. He was in the hospital and had a fifth of his lung removed at one point. He just went to a new doctor, and this one gave him Doxycycline and Prednisone. (Antibiotic and Steroids.) Since steroids suppress immune system functions, I think that's completely backwards. They were prescribed for the MRSA. Have you ever heard of sterioids prescribed to help with MRSA treatment?
BUT THIS HAS GONE ON FOR TOO LONG NOW I WAS SCARED OF THAT , I WAS IN A LOCAL BAR AND THIS GUY CAME IN AND SAID , HE HAD JUST GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL FOR THE SAME THING MRSA ,HE HAD A CUT ON HIS FINGER , SO I JUST WOUNDER IF I CAUGHT IT FROM THERE ? Upon our own research we are not sure if it could be MRSA, and after 4 days of trying her prescribed Mupirocin on my rash, it seems to have increased the bumps on my hand. At this point I'm really not to sure what it could be. I can not tell if it is increased by anything specific or something that is more serious. Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated!
Could it be molluscum contagiosum? Sounds like you need to see a dermatologist. Google that and see if it looks like it.

The doctor labeled it as a form of mrsa and prescribed me Bactria ds 2 a day and mupirocin 2% creme. I have been using these for almost 5 days now and have seen no changes. I have also been using hydrocortisone frequently thoughout the day. The bumps are on my hands, feet, buttocks, waistline, arms, legs, and genitals. The worst bumps occur on genitals, waistline, and buttocks. I originally thought it was scabies, but nobody in my house at school has been affected at all..
Only one site out of five have the blisters the rest is okay. It was itching and water fillied but now I am taking benedryl and using mupirocin and it is not itching any more but still water filled. It is not soar or hot but I have had mrsa in the past could it be mrsa?
Hi and so sorry you are going through all this. You are probably allergic to the sulfa drug in the Bacterim (ampicillin/sulbactam) and the Keflex I don't know but can be allergic to any drug/antibiotic. I'm allergic to Murpirocin, neosporin, bacitracin, clindamycin, metronidazole all topicals and had a syncope from a tetracycline type drug. My brother is anaphylaxic to penicillin. It sounds like you can tolerate Mupirocin but the topical isn't enough for your tissue infection.

I am writing this letter to get advice and help regarding my scalp folliculitis. I’ve had this condition for the past 6 years. I’ve tried different treatments including antibiotics like Amoxicillin, erythromycin, minocycline, tetracycline, doxicycline, & ciprofloxacin each course taken for at least 6 months to 1 year. I have also tried topical treatment like Fucidin, Mupirocin, clindamycin and gentamicin.
The Description you gave of your Throat w/ the White Streaks, along w/ the Symptoms of Fatigue & feeling run down, as well as having a Loss of Appetite Sounds like Strep Throat or Mono, but did you have a Sore Throat or Fever at any point?? Taking Antibiotics, like Penicillin/Amoxicillin would've Helped if it was Strep, & IF it was Strep w/in 24hrs of starting Antibiotics you're no longer Confessors. I actually just learned all about Strep, bc about 1.
Follow the package insert. And see if they go away. Mupirocin (Bactroban) topical will also kill MRSA (I think this is prescription only). So there are lots of topicals that can kill it if you actually got it. They probably would give you an oral pill if you are not allergic to sulfa drugs Bactrim works and many other antibiotics. So try not to worry just because it could be MRSA. I think you just have pimples.
I have had multiple MRSA infections for over 2 years. The symptoms I have are cellulitis and abcesses. Ive been on oral antibiotics for 2 years, IV antibiotics several times, and have had at least 20 infections I & D. I have had them everywhere but majority of them have been under my arm. I recently had surgery under my arms for MRSA related hydranitis supprativa (sp)? Will I ever get rid of this ? Is there any cure ? all my cultures have came back positive for MRSA.
My fiancé has MRSA, he got it from a spider bite after being quarantined in the hospital for several month 2 years ago, they thought it was gone but he got an attack a few months ago and it started going to his kidney. He was in the hospital several months this time and when he left they told him he will be on antibiotics the rest of his life and needed monthly blood tests.
