mri scan of human head

Does it scan the brain only or other parts of the head under the brain?? As in does it scan the areas above the neck inside the head below the brain.... Appreciate advice from someone who has done an MRI scan before....

My doctor ordered a head scan with contrast. When I went, they did a scan without contrast then told me they were not going to do the one with contrast. Is that because everything looked normal or because they could already see an abnormality so didn't need to use the contrast?

Should I have an MRI scan it will set me back a lot of money..... Could something really be wrong> I do not know wat was in my E even if it gave me an MDMA feeling. This is a never ending comedown. Hi guys I wanted to know if anyone knows where to get a private head MRI scan done in the Birmingham region. I've been suffering from this head related illness for almost 2 years and the doctor thinks it's depression which I disagree because the only thing that gets me depressed is the problem itself I'm suffering from.

Try turning the head away from the painful side, that would be of help and avoid looking up as it would make the pain worse. Bending the head down would also give some relief In general, conservative management would help. Immobilization with the neck in a flexed forward position may be helpful. Straining should be avoided. Medication in the form of an anti-inflammatory such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen may be taken.

I have just had my appt through for a MRI with contrast of the head and spine. I am feeling very anxious as I am very clausaphobic and will be in the scanner for about an hour. If I get sedated my appt will be longer. How small is the tube?

Eight weeks ago I got a weird head sensation - first came electrical sounds like the crackling of a faulty circuit, followed by a sensation of the inside of my head rising up towards top of head (just once), followed by brief dizziness. I don't think the whole experience lasted more than a minute. I felt okay afterwards. Two weeks later I was still wondering what had happened so I discussed with my GP who was concerned and she referred me to a neurologist.

I went for an MRI of brain it showed a posible kink in blood vessel then they had me come back and did a coranary artery brain scan of neck and head. It showed nothing wrong no kinks no nothing. Are MRi's acurate? I have had this weird sensation on left side of head for 2.5 months. it's so annoying. iT's like a pressure feeling. Seems like it stemming from base of skull on left side. My jaws are tight too plus I get a twinge of pain in left side of tempe mostly when bending down.

It came out of on nowhere 2 months ago i was working away at my desk and i felt this pressure kind of feeling on top of my head in that one tiny spot top left of my head its like the size of a quarter. For persistent headaches, possibilities like migrainous, cluster, tension, pinched nerve in cervical spine and refractive errors that need to be evaluated thoroughly with the help of a neurologist here. Migraine like headache can be throbbing, one sided of face & head and preceded by aura (starts with blurred vision). Cluster headache may appear as burning, explosive in nature and tear appears from eyes.

I indeed have suffered from auras and migraine and now feel a lot less worried about the presence of plaques on the mri scan of my brain. Thank you for being very helpful.

Hi, It's 4:00 in the morning and I couldn't sleep because of the pressure,tenderness and throbbing in the top of my head. It"s painful to touch the top of my head and little hair bumps top up sometimes. it's worst today then before. I have a bald spot in the top of head also. I am under a lot of stress working two jobs and single. I don't know if this is a sign of going thru the change or not but I'll really concern.

I have been having horrible headaches on the side of my head and bottom of the back of my skull. This is why the scan was done.

Of course any amount of radiation to an unborn child is a risk but if its just an MRI of your head and not a full body scan or even one of your lower limbs you should be in the clear.

However, I still have significant head pain at the back of my head. It could be described as a good deal of pressure at the back of my head that intensifies when I strain. When I walk, the impact of my feet on the ground makes my head and teeth hurt...I can no longer exercise due to this and the quality of my life has been greatly affected by all this. I have constant head pain...The worse part is...no one can give me an explanation for this....

He is just being scheduled for an MRI almost three months after the attack? Did you say you lived in Somalia? And the treating physician recieved his medical degree by sending in boxtops? The window of opportunity for intervening is short, and it was apparently missed. An EKG is meaningless. Your husband had a concusssion and possibly a bleed inside his brain. I am stunned that an MRI was not performed within an hour after his hospital admission. There may be a missing piece here.

your not alone i have had that feeling also, sometimes in front of my head, and alot of times its in the back of my head just another annoying symptom of anxiety

Hi i had an MRI today as i keep feeling really tired and dizzy, this has been going on 4 months. During the MRI a pressure built up inside my head and and eyes it felt like my head was going to explode. I am not a wimp by nature but i had to push the emergency button to stop the scan. This was the last scan and i was only 40 secs away from completion. I looked on search engines and this seems like an unusual MRI experiance can anyone shed light???

I just had my 10w scan and yes my lil one looks human finally. Was tired of not knowing what I was LOOKN at lol went from a lil circle to seeing a head arm n legs. I was also able to see my lil one wiggle around on the scan was amazing to see!!!! Can't wait till the 17th imma be 12w hopefully it will be a lil more defined and baby is bigger.

I was all ready to ask my neuro if I could get a CT scan instead of an MRI when I came across a bunch of literature about people developing cancer from CT scans. Does anyone know just how significant the risks are? Thanks.

m assuming the Ct and MRI were of your head! I suggest seeing a Neurologist and bring your scans and reports with you.

Some migraines some just bad headaches. Recently I have been having terrible pressure on top of my head. I had a CT scan which showed nothing. It hurts to even brush my hair. I know it sounds weird but it feels like there is an indent on top towards the back. Sort of where a baby's soft spot is. At any rate the pressure is almost constant with occasional relief. The pressure is bad at times. It is becoming quite annoying.
