i ask because as a rule morphine is not a drug that is sought after for the high....have u talked to ur pain dr about giving u some help with detox?

Although 12 hrs have passed,but still clinical examination from a doctor is mandatory to rule out any morphine overdose. Morphine overdose occurs when a person intentionally or accidentally takes too much of the medicine. I hope that helps. I would call the pain clinic, they can pull a report showing what scripts you have had filled, they will see you didnt fill it and possible give you a new one. sometimes they do make an exception to the rule. the doctor knows you are dependent and need this medication or you wouldnt be getting it. have faith in your doctor.

There has been long standing debate about whether any morphine derivitive drug is safe on the liver. I never met a morphine I didn't like, but now if I take even vicodin for a few days I don't feel well. The rule of thumb that should be followed is is if you've never had a problem with drug abuse than you really shouldn't worry about it. I have had surgery on L3,4 and 5. Morphine so4ir was the only drug that gave me relief of pain. I tried other pan meds to no avail. I am also a VA patient and they have other alternatives to morphine. I was offered oxycotin but refused it.I know others that were on it and became addicted.

At this point in time whenever a migraine comes on I have to go to the Emergency Room, and I am well known there, I get a shot of Zofran for nausea and a shot of either Demerol or Morphine, but it happens so often that I am unclear on the aftereffects and I am breastfeeding so what harm is it doing to my new baby?? Hi everyone. I'm scheduled to get my surgery in less than 2 months on May 17th (prayers are appreciated) and I'm nervous about the pain meds afterward. Federal law prohibits the transfer of morphine to any person other than the patient for whom it was prescribed. Generic morphine sustained release tablets are available and capsules are not available.

morphine sounds scary but in reality is safer than lortab or hydro//a smidge is even a smidege/stronger mg per mg...but morphine as a rule does not produce the nrg buzz hydro does...

Well, first of all i know what i would tell your husband. Who cares what he wants or doesn't like. Look at the mess you are in. Sounds like you need to go and speak with a doctor and explain that you want to get off the morphine. Don't forget to tell him about this husband also who is obviously causing you alot of anxiety.

I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. My husband is addicted to Morphine. I have never done any type of drug and I really don't know what to do to help. Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant. Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.

The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................

Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.

You need to wear a holter monitor for one or two days so the electrical impulses of your heart can be recorded, to rule out the heart being the problem. I would speak to your Doctor. Nearly everyone has a missed heart beat now and again and you feel it kind of jump or twitch to get back into rhythm. Most people either don't notice them or ignore them because they are so rare. Most of us have probably been treated like junkies in ER rooms ... and it is insulting and my GP mentioned genetic testing for how I metabolize drugs.
