When I read the subject line of your post, I thought, "A dirty drop?!? Who talks like that?" Using slang like "dirty drop" in a medical setting could convey a wrong impression. Just like some patients that ask their doctor for oxy"cotton.

I'm surprised if you're in North America, or anywhere uotside of central Asia , India or China, and you can get unrefined opium -- it's tremendously bulky, and is, for export, synthesizes to morphine and then acetylmorphine (Herion). Are you sure you're doing opium?

When I informed my doc that the Percocet no longer worked, he took me off those, and stuck me onto MS Contin EQ 15mg (2/day), and morphine immediate-relief 15mg (4/day). The paper tape will still let the skin breath so it is very safe. If you choose not to use the tape then I would suggest going to either the Methadone or Morphine. Give these suggestions to your Doctor. I will tell you that Fentanyl is one of the strongest medications out on the market and to replace it is going to be hard. With your body being used to the Fentanyl, other opiates will not compare. I'm sorry that your having such a hard time. Think about using the tape.

She said she had a pretty sleepness night though - I think they have stopped her liquid pain (morphine?) meds so at least she is coming out of her medication haze. Well, first of all i know what i would tell your husband. Who cares what he wants or doesn't like. Look at the mess you are in. Sounds like you need to go and speak with a doctor and explain that you want to get off the morphine. Don't forget to tell him about this husband also who is obviously causing you alot of anxiety.

I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. My husband is addicted to Morphine. I have never done any type of drug and I really don't know what to do to help. Every time I think I know what is going on I find out something else he has lied about. At first it was just taking the pills, then it was crushing the pills. Now I'm finding needles and spoons everywhere. He claims that he gets the pills down to liquid form and puts them in the needle and squirts it in his mouth. I just don't believe him anymore.

I am going to go cold turkey on tuesday from 100mg morphine, been on them about 6 to 8 weeks. feeling sick when I dont take them and not able to take off time for detox and types for detox?

After running the gamut of pain medications in an effort to find some relief from the constant, chronic pain I endure from spondylolisthesis, I've been prescribed morphine tablets at 10 mgs per tab. I'm still getting no relief from the pain. Should I ask my GP for a higher dosage?

Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant. Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.

The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................

Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.

nickjackson, I've never heard of memory problems with MS Contin. It is generally the same base compound as Kadian and Embeda. It's all Morphine based.

so i had the worst migrane of me life last saturday, i thought i was haveing a stroke, so i went to the emergency room and the gave me a shot of morphine and sent me home, i had to wait 4 hours in pain to be seen. the headache was gone by monday but on tuesday i noticed my neck was totally stiff, it hurts to turn left or right, up or down and its makeing my head feel tight, even my nerves to my right eye and upper right teeth kinda hurt.

I spoke with my pharmacist and he said that it was probably because my body was so accustomed to a morphine base that my biddy was in a kind of withdrawal. He said to give it another month and if it didn't get better to ask my doc to switch me back. So that is what I did. I was back to square one, but maybe a little improvement since I had taken a break from it for 2 months.

10 years ago started on Tylenol 3 and slowly went to Percocet, OxyContin then to morphine MS Contin and statex to dilauded and hydro morphing ER to back to oxycodone and now on fentanyl 37 mcg. 16 yr old with constant headache pressure at base of skull and neck for 5 mos. Also nausea, dizziness, numbness, orthostatic hypotension, Babinski response, transient vision loss. All tests (MRI & MRA of brain & cervical, blood test, lyme, heavy metals, ANA, heart, etc) normal. Neurological exam: babinski response on right foot, less sensation on rt side of body. Very low blood pressure. Question: if other tests all fine, is Babinski response (done by neurologist) okay to have?
