m 29 weeks and I just recently saw a post on Facebook about ICP (intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy) and it seems to mostly fit my symptoms but I also have hepatitis c and I know that can make you itchy when your levels are off (which currently they are and I'm seeing a GI doctor next week). My worry is that it is not my hepatitis and is this ICP. I've heard it means early delivery and can lead to stillbirth if untreated which scares me to no end.
A le nights ago I couldn't sleep because I was experiencing horrible itching in my hands and feet. I went to the doctor early the next morning and it turns out I might have some liver disorder called ICP. I was just hoping there might be another mommy who's experienced this and can help me feel less freaked out! Ftm and all I can do is worry for my little man.
I have a question relating to shunts and MRIs. I have a VP shunt and require an MRI because I am having trigeminal neuralgia in my face and neck problems which are leading to numbness in my fingers. CT scans show nothing so my neurologist ordered an MRI. Is it safe for someone with a VP shunt to have one? Im just nervous about it flying out of my head an all. Thank you for any input.
m 37 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing pretty severe itching for about 2 weeks now. I did some research and obstetric cholestasis came up ( oc, ICP). It sounds pretty scary. Has anyone else been experiencing this or have oc? I go to my doctor on Tuesday, should I wait to do anything about it till then? Suggestions!?!!!
My itching started around 26/27 weeks and would keep me up at night, didn't give it much thought until I had enough of hours of scratching and not sleeping. I googled and icp came up, he said doctors don't like patients googling but in this case he's glad I did because I could possibly have icp. Since I've been taking the medicine the itching is gone unless I miss some doses.
Literally six months later and to this day every six months, once in fall and once in spring I get elevated ICP. They say it is not connected to my lupus. I have none of the risk factors for pseudotumor cerebri. These are the worst headaches ever. I literally feel like my head will explode. I start throwing up within 4 hours of the onset. I almost always end up on the ER. My doctors have not come up with a plan because they do not understand it.
) My vertigo is returning as well as numbness to my face/tongue, irritabliy, urinary urgency, numbness and neuro pain to my arms and legs but mostly at night. I am terrified. I feel like if I tell anyone I will be back under the knife. I love my job and can't imagine not working. Right now I am a one man show. If I'm not there, the kids don't get the central lines they need. It's not really an option to slow down.
Hi...let me start by asking since they are now doing genetic testing for EDS post op.....did he have a dura patch placed
Sometimes when a person is rejecting a patch they over produce CSF fluid and it is then DX'd as having ICP and a shunt is placed....
Sometimes all that is needed is to replace the dura patch with tissue harvested from the patient to help lessen the CSF being produced.
I know when I went to school I had issues learning and focusing...
Normally the anxiety resolves itself within a few weeks but this time it has persisted and continues on. Could it be caused by the morphine? This is my thought but the pharmacist said he didn't think it was.
Also my doctor is suggesting 8 tylenol a day to replace the morphine. I am so skeptical of it being adequate though I know I can manage less than the 60 mg of morphine now. What are your thoughts?
I would suggest they check this child for tethered cord, sleep apnea, ICP, ehlers-danlos, and u mentioned no syrinx, but where did they check? Many Drs only look in the cervical spine, these can form in the thoracic and lumbar spine as well.
Last...8mm is the length of the herniation, but it is the measurement they do not give u that is more important, the width of the tonsils...u need to find out if there is over crowding and a CSF obstruction.
I am not sure what the circumstances are that surround your situation, but I do know that strokes are caused by a blood clot or a brain bleed. My mom just had 2 strokes and they actually gave her a morphine pump for her head because it hurt so bad. I do not think they would have done that if there was a chance it would cause more strokes. Keep doing your research though, I guess you never know!
s migraines and not her chiari. She is considered boarderline. However, they have tried everything and the only thing that works is morphene and fluids by IV. There is NOTHING that kills her pain at home. The neurosurgeon who i really like says even a small chiari can cause intense pain. he does not want to jump into surgery, obviously, but thinks if pain isnt under control in an other 8 weeks we should consider it. Help. I need advice.
