Avatar m tn 42 am, she was administered morphine and robinul x 1 stat. She instantly died. Did the combination, that close together have any possibility of causing her death?
886779 tn?1253644204 Well, after 8 years of having 16 mg morphine shots for cluster migraines and neck problems, I had had enough of it, and I wanted to be free from having to go to the doctor every single day of my life for pain control. You will sweat, you will chill, you will ache in your kidney's until you bawl. You will be anxious, hopeless, and suffer from terrible stomach problems. This lasted for over 3 weeks with me before I even began to feel human. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.
Avatar f tn But I felt very different taking that and decided to stop cold turkey after 8 weeks. It has been 5days since I had a pill. The sweating, the death smell, sleepless nights and diarrhea are here. I will control the diarrhea with OTC Immodium. My question is how long does this death smell hang around and the night sweats? Any input is appreciated. God bless you all in your endeavors.
237039 tn?1264258057 I have been given Morphine in the hospitals during my heart attacks, and most recently was given Morphine quite frequently. I was told last April, the reason they were giving me Morphine at short intervals is because it "oxygenates" the heart. As long as I had the chest pains they were administering the Morphine at 30 minute intervals. I protested the frequent use, but was told it was for that reason I was being given that much.
Avatar f tn Vitas Hospice of Orange County would give him only methodone and I was told by a nurse AFTER his death that he should have had morphene . Now I am nearly suicidal with regret. How can I live with the guilt and is it warrented?
Avatar f tn Definitely ask your doctor about a taper on morphine. Google opiate equivalency and find how much morphine to start at, talk to your doctor about a realistic schedule. Fentanyl is stronger than morphine, so don't keep taking it until you feel good. That would be a lot. Stay at a tolerable dose until you talk to your doctor again. Did he give you any idea of how much to take?
Avatar f tn When I started I was on 125mcg Fentynal patches every 72 hours and Morphine Sulphate 30mg 1x per day. 30mg was too much for me at once so I bite it in half and take it every 12 hours unless I don't need it. I also began seeing a gentle spine care chiropractor during all this and it has changed my life! I was shocked that a "doctor" would just throw medications like Fentynal at me for years without offering me ALL possible options for recovery!
Avatar f tn He was very nice and helpful. He gave me morphine extended release 30mg tables and I need to take those 3x a day. I asked him about pregnancy and this medication. He said that there is always a chance of compilations. He said he has seen several patients that have gotten pregnant on this medication, some have tapered off of it and some continued to stay in this medication.
Avatar f tn I used fentanyl patches for a year and had an extremely high tolerance for opiates, 1 100mcg/hr has about 10 mgs of fentanyl. Fentanyl is 40 times stronger than morphine. So in essence, chewing one 50 mcg/hr patch is about 5 mgs of fentanyl which is equivelant to 200 mgs of morphine. That's like doing 2 and a half 80s at once. What they're doing is dangerous, end of story, take it from some one that knows first hand. I'm not a dr.
Avatar f tn Kadian is a morphine sulfate extended release pill. Morphine is an opiate, as is percocet and loritab. You shouldn't have a problem when you switch. Be careful you don't OD....Didn't your doctor give you some info. on switching drugs? Did he say taper or ???? Like I said, you are still taking an opiate. So, you will still remain physically dependent on the stuff. Chronic opiate use will actually make your pain worse over time.
Avatar n tn I was paranoid and taking 8 mg every 3 hours and 3 mg of ativan daily. I wanted to die and spent my days sobbing and rocvking on the couch,. I went to my local ER and they did not know how to taper me off the dilaudid. I went to Lahey clini where an ER doc gave me the name of a doc who speicialized in this and within 3 days at a hospital was detoxed. This was Mid October. Now I am suffering from severe abdominal and sever back pain. I went to a pain clinic.
Avatar f tn I do several breathing treatments a day (seems like more and more often, even waking at night gasping) use rescue inhaler 4 to 6 times, and sometimes just breathe through it. They have given me the morphine and anti-anxiety meds to help with breathing...not sure, how they are supposed to help...but...another discussion. I have always believed I can get through anything if I know it will end, so when bad spell starts I do what I can then start breathing through it and counting.
Avatar n tn my brother is on his death bed dying from cancer and we are wondering if he can be detoxing from his dose of methadone after eight years of been off drugs , he is getting high doses of morphine now but still he is very aggiatate and no one is telling us whats going on
Avatar n tn hang in there, it is still early and you will get responses when more people log on.you will get ALOT of support here, i am also an addict, my DOC was vic, but also used morphine, heroin, basically everything. never tramadol, though, so i will leave advice for the ones who know about that. i would spend $1600 a month for my addiction, am now tapering thanks to the support i have from this forum. i know how it is, believe me!
Avatar m tn YES! Any changes in pain or breathing to be reported to an emergency doctor immediately. PE's are life threatening and can cause sudden death. My brother was a healthy 31 year old man who presented with shortness of breath, wheeziness and clavicle pain over a two day period. One morning he suddenly dropped dead. This is no joke. Take your symptoms seriously and be your best advocate when doctors try to brush you off.
Avatar f tn My mother was diagnosed with stage III ovarian cancer 18 months ago. She was 61, healthy. There were complications after her initial surgery and while in the hospital for the second time she had a stroke, which left her with right side paresis and (severely) cognitively compromised. Today she lives at home with 24 hr care. She has a G Tube, colostomy bag and a fistula in her pelvic area. Her condition is terminal. No health care team does not have an estimate of how long she will live.
Avatar n tn The opiates cause a cesation of peristalsis, and food and fibre will only complete the blockage which may result in death.
Avatar f tn This sounds like the exact same thing my family and I went through with my sister a little over 3 years ago. Her body pretty much shut down and was on life support. My parents had to make the very difficult decision to take her off of it after talking to every doctor possible that she could not be brought back. She was almost 31 years old and very healthy. I do know that she abused pain medication though.
Avatar f tn I am about to go off 300mg er morphine and 60mg norco daily, cold Turkey! I have tried before but did not last 24 hours! I have to end this addiction now! What is my best option. I have half a morphine left and don't know what to do. I have children and do not know how to make it through detox and care for my children. Please help!
Avatar m tn Im talking severe devil dreams, where i would be screaming and my husband could not wake me. I was afraid to go to sleep. I have had morphine in the hospital and never had that reaction. Is morphine good for pain? Im ok with regimine now. I just wonder if anyone else gets crazy dreams like I did.
Avatar m tn Normally the anxiety resolves itself within a few weeks but this time it has persisted and continues on. Could it be caused by the morphine? This is my thought but the pharmacist said he didn't think it was. Also my doctor is suggesting 8 tylenol a day to replace the morphine. I am so skeptical of it being adequate though I know I can manage less than the 60 mg of morphine now. What are your thoughts?
Avatar n tn if they are time released (which many morphine preparations are), you cant break them- it could release all the medicne at once and cause respiratory failure and death
Avatar m tn Hey guys. I haven't been posting in a while because I relapsed the Weds before last wed I took 10mg hydrocodone. That same friday I took 15mg. Then on sunday I got a hold of some morphine and started taking that and the last 8 days have been a hydro and morphine binge. I'm not sure if my withdrawals with come back or not. I heard something about them coming back quicker each time you relapse.
Avatar m tn The hospital she was in before she passed stopped treating her around a week before she died. The treatment she received before then then and now was morphine to keep her relaxed. Now my question is when we received the death certificate on Monday. The causes of death were stated as septicemia which seemed normal. But the other one was ecoli. We were not made aware of this until now. Would it have gone undetected and if not why were they allowed to withhold that from us.
Avatar m tn I wanted to ask anyone if you have ever heard of leg pain associated with tablets of morphine, I woke up at night and my legs felt like they were on fire. I have decided to go off of the morphine and have 16 left and I did it before with less though it is hard. This is the third prescription I have had because they just did not have anything better to offer but the divoprolex is working well. Or epival??
Avatar n tn I am not sure what the circumstances are that surround your situation, but I do know that strokes are caused by a blood clot or a brain bleed. My mom just had 2 strokes and they actually gave her a morphine pump for her head because it hurt so bad. I do not think they would have done that if there was a chance it would cause more strokes. Keep doing your research though, I guess you never know!
Avatar f tn I have. Don't be afraid. I've actually done it twice, and while it's certainly not ideal, you can't do anything at this point to undo it. Just know that your baby will be taken care of if he/she displays any symptoms. They do something called an APGAR test to see if the baby is agitated. If the baby reaches a certain score, they might choose to wean the baby with morphine.
210982 tn?1280983895 I don't think it easy to get off any of them.I have been on O/C 40 er. I have been taking them for 2 years (not chewing or snorting) My company just got bought out and my ins want pay for it but they will pay to putt me on Morphine Sulfate 60 ER.
