Mobic and methotrexate

Common Questions and Answers about Mobic and methotrexate

mobic

Avatar f tn I am a 35 yr old female and I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid & Psoriatic Arthritis with Psoriasis, and Acid Reflux Disease w/ a hiatal hernia at age 22 (Psoriasis at age 12). Would the Methotrexate shot be a good option to help with all of the above issues while keeping the GI health issues at bay? So far I'm on way too many pills and nothing is being managed well. I have too many bad days to feel like a proactive citizen anymore.
Avatar f tn There are many, many medications available to treat not only the pain and inflammation, but also slow down and hopefully halt the progression of the disease itself. The frustrating part is finding the right medication or combination of meds for you - no two people respond the same way to the same medications. My "cocktail" is Enbrel and methotrexate, plus an anti-inflammatory called meloxicam (Mobic). These three meds only scratch the surface of what's available. Good luck!
463897 tn?1468013750 m in menopause!); my two main RA drugs are methotrexate and Enbrel, both by sub-q injection. Also Mobic (meloxicam), an NSAID. I also take meds for GERD, hypertension, glaucoma. Um, I think that's it...must consult my list. I have a husband, two kids, two dogs. I work from home as a writer, writing technical documentation, marketing copy, web content, and fiction. At this point in my life, there isn't any part of me that hasn't been poked, prodded, and analyzed to death.
Avatar f tn in my case, they said no guarantee it would even work and the recuperation is 4mos. Instead I wear high top sneakers 18hrs a day and orthotics and live on Mobic and with change in lifestyle, doing pretty ok with it.
518798 tn?1295212279 i actually had to be on mobic for a while. its generic name is meloxicam..its a nonsteriodal anti inflammitory. i am no longer taking it, but its good and works well.
Avatar f tn 30 am until 5pm. Then I take some tylenol to try and keep me relaxed so I can sleep. I have gotten inserts for my shoes made, I have had 2 x-rays and the only thing they found there was T11 and T12 were "slighty fusing". I'm not really sure what that means but no one mentioned it until recently and the x-ray was done in Feb so it can't be that bad right?
787406 tn?1339203183 Everything thyroid has been tried. Methotrexate stopped the pain but I am sensitive to it, same with Plaquenil and lyrica. I am currently on methyl/Prednisone which I have been on since January 2010 and Mobic. They can't find the reason for my knees swelling which showed up overnight, they are constantly swollen now and worse in the mornings. The lymph glands were the same way, just showed up overnight and have stayed swollen. I have had the mylar rash and my cheeks are now stained from it.
Avatar f tn I have been taking prednisolone on off for years for sinusitis/allergies and have read some people have started taking methotrexate for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Does anyone know if this would also work for chronic sinusitis conditions?
Avatar f tn My husband has ankylosingspondilitis and takes enbrel injections and has considered taking methotrexate before. Best of luck. Could be a real blessing from God :) and a healthy baby!
Avatar f tn ive recently been on flucloxicillin and penecillin very high doses and i know this can affect mtx strengths. i have been tired and achy and nauseas for weeks now. ive done two hpts and both have been negative. should i see my gp?
Avatar n tn I was taking Ibuprofen for years and the pain in my knees was intollerable and I was confined to a wheel chair. About a year ago I started taking 1400 IU of Vitamin D and stopped the ibuprofen totally, my arthritis was doing MUCH better, even started taking short walks, however, recently, I had an injury and started taking Ibuprofen.....now my knees hurt all the time. Can Ibuprofen deplete vitamin D?
Avatar n tn My mama used to take Mobic and it helped her back alot. Unfortunately for her, it upset her stomach so she quit taking it with no side effects following. Best wishes.
1548207 tn?1303454180 The prednisone step doown depends on how long u have been on it typically the longer your on it the slower the step down as well as strenght so a doc is nest to ask but it could be fine since it was such a short time. As for methotrexate I found 2 articles on it and GM and it sounded promising and my breast doctor agreed and sent me to a rheumatologist to monitor the drugs and my docs communicate about my progress and work together.
Avatar n tn My provider told me I have a little of Osteo arthritis and has prescribed me Mobic for the pain. Now, since like a month ago, I have been feeling like big pulses on my legs, buttock, arms, neck, face, back and stomack at times. It does not last too long but, i do have then through out the whole day. It is somewhat worrying me. Does anyone know why this is happening or what lab test can I get done?
Avatar f tn I was on Mobic for a year or so and never had any issues besides stomach pain (which any NSAID's can cause) I get stomach pain with any NSAID's. Mobic wasn't really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex.
Avatar m tn I am currently being treated with 8 mg of Methyl/Prednisione a day to keep the muscle pain down and Mobic for the nerve pain in my knees that just started a month ago. my symptoms started 2 years ago and I have tried Methotrexate and Lyrica but reacted to both.
Avatar m tn My primary care physician and rheumatologist advised me to stop the methotrexate immediately. Methotrexate injures the liver, and that is why it is dosed once a week instead of daily. This gives your liver time to heal in between doses. Methotrexate was very effective for my RA symptoms and I hated to give it up, but I wasn't willing to destroy my liver in order to get relief from joint pain.
Avatar f tn Can the Methotrexate alter my thyroid levels? I am off Methrotrexate now and only taking 5 mg of Predisone and 175 synthroid?
Avatar f tn Today a Doctor gave me a script for Mobic, for wrist pain that I have had for the past month from repative work,my Urate levels are at 52 just over limit.Im on Asprin and fluid tablets which can raise these levels. A specialist doctor I saw says it is gout I don't believe it is...I'm unsure about taking the Mobic though for my wrist ??
Avatar m tn Yes you can take Mobic with a narcotic pain med. Mobic is a NSAID, and has the same risks as other NSAIDS. In high doses it can cause some kidney issues, the vicodin has tylenol in it and can cause some liver issues in high doses. But they are safe to take together. Typically what you want to watch for is multiple NSAIDS, or Multiple meds with tylenol.
Avatar m tn m already a member of the Anxiety and Depression forums. After two months, almost, of tests and seeing various doctors and specialist, I've been diagnosed with Osteo Arthritis in the lower back and right hip. For this I've been prescribed Meloxicam/Mobic for the pain and inflamation. The data sheet that came with the prescription details some pretty nasty potential side effects. I normally don't have too much trouble with meds but this stuff is potent.
1040744 tn?1253048126 So sorry to hear you are in the same boat as me. I have very similar pain and I have a positive ANA one time and negative the next time and the same on the RF. It sounds like, as in my case, it is RA or Lupus. For me it is gearing more to Lupus since my pain is mostly in my muscles and connective tissue, not my joints. I'm rather surprised he would start you on methotrexate without a diagnosis. How long have you had these issues? How long have you been on your meds?
Avatar f tn I take lisinopril myself for HBP and have done so for decades. I've never used naproxen except maybe once or twice. One Rx that might possibly be of benefit for arthritis instead of naproxen is meloxicam, also known as Mobic. I use it occasionally with no ill effects to report.
