Miscarriage rates by gestational age

Common Questions and Answers about Miscarriage rates by gestational age

miscarriage

Avatar f tn Also since the ultrasound may have been to "fuzzy" to see would that not warrant a fetal echo while I was still pregnant or maybe a repeat ultrasound?
Avatar n tn This is so exact, that your doctor or midwife can actually use heart rate to help pinpoint the gestational age of your baby via ultrasound. The miscarriage rate for pregnancies in which a mother has heard or seen a heart beat is less than 1%; however, if your doctor notices that your baby's heart beat is off by a week or more it can indicate that a miscarriage is more likely. By the beginning of the 9th week of pregnancy, the normal fetal heart rate is an average of 175 BPM.
Avatar f tn Is there a possiblity i may have a miscarriage? what are the chances? and is it normal for my gestational age not match the ultrasound? answers greatly appreciated!!!
Avatar f tn Hey ladies!! I have a question that I've been very curious about ever since I had my first ultrasound done. My gestational age says I'm due in October, 5th, which would make me 33wks & 4 days today, but my midwife says that the due date is September, 30th. Should I go by the ultrasound gestational age? Is it more accurate than the date my midwife gives me??
Avatar f tn Whenever your doctor does your early ultrasound, do they go by your fetal age or gestational age to get your due date? I was reading online that gestational age goes from your last LMP, and your fetal age is the actual estimated age of your fetus. And it kinda confuses me on which one the doctor goes by when they do the ultrasound.
Avatar f tn I had my first US yesterday. According to my LMP, I am 7 weeks, 3 days. The ultrasound measurements indicate an age of 5.5 weeks to 6 weeks of age. The doctor was concerned by this, and by a "low heart rate". Although a bit hard to see, we could see the baby's heart motion as it was beating, however they did not pick up heart tones and did not estimate a heart rate. The yolk sac was there, and the gestational sac looked "a little crinkly" according to the doc.
Avatar n tn I had my 1st tvs on my 5th week gestational age and only gestational sac and yolk sac were seen no embryo yet. After 2 weeks I went for my 2nd tvs at 7wk 6days gestational age and I saw my baby with CRL of 1.52cm but no cardiac activity detected. This is my first pregnancy and I'm so scared when the ultrasound report comment : within the well decidualized gestational sac is a yolk sac and an embryo without cardiac activity.
Avatar f tn I visited my OBGYN on 2/18/08 for first routine OB visit. I was slightly concerned since I had been spotting for 5 days - started out brown and light pink, and now sometimes has a little bit of stringy red in it(also, I noticed a faint foul smell to this bloody discharge when I changed my pad). By my LMP (12/20/07), I should be 9 weeks today.
Avatar f tn My baby measured 1 weeks ahead of his gestational age and 2 weeks ahead around his abdomen, the due date never changed tho. Babies grow at different rates I believe after the first trimester.
Avatar f tn The earliest gestational age that a babys HB can be detected with most standard equipment is 6.5-7.0 weeks. I wouldnt be concerned about it - what was seen is very NORMAL at this gestational age. I just dont understand why doctors perform US's so early. It causes much needless worry and expense (since in most cases a repeat will be needed in a week or two).
Avatar f tn It's because that's your baby's gestational age. I am currently 39 weeks plus but my baby's gestational age is only 37. Most people go by when the last menstrual cycle was, so off of that, you are 10 weeks pregnant. Hope that makes sense to you.
Avatar n tn t know your age but that would be informative as you are asking about confounding issues. The two confounders are that with increasing age miscarriage rates increase (most commonly due to an increase in chromosomal abnormalities secondary to aging oocytes), and with increasing age the menstrual cycle can begin to vary in length by 7 days or more.
1537137 tn?1303409873 dates that are published almost always use gestational age (at least as far as I have seen) as well. For example, you can usually see a heartbeat by 6 wks 4 days gestational age (that would be 4 wks 4 days embryonic age). Hope that explanation helps and doesn't just confuse things more!
Avatar f tn All kinds of numbers and miscarriage rates are running around out there after a heart beat is seen, I have seen from 5 to 10% quoted. It sounds like you are doing all the right things and things are going great. Hope this helps, not sure there is an answer.
Avatar n tn My Donor was 27 years old. I was wondering about the miscarriage rate for that age and whether there is a difference in rates between Donor Egg and regular IVF? Also, does the rate chnge depending on how far along you are in the pregnancy? Thank you!
Avatar m tn Can you suggest information and/or sources of ablation results by age group - including success rates, side effects, frequency of death? Also, is there information as to the effect of the physical condition of a patient having the AF ablation procedure on the outcome? For example, can an 80-year old man still be a good ablation candidate if he is in very good physical condition?
Avatar f tn I'm so sorry that you are having to go through this. I hate to be negative, but it doesn't sound so good. I heard our baby's HB at 7 weeks, but stopped growing when they had me come back the following week and I m/c a few days later. I really hope that the dr's are wrong. Please let us know what happens. We are here for you.
605914 tn?1243622344 I'm glad it helped! I also want to help clarify gestational age, though you probably already know what it is. I'll just put it up here anyway! Start of your cycle is the first day of your period. Around two-three weeks later ovulation occurs. Two weeks after ovulation your period returns. The reason you're 4 weeks (and not 2 weeks) when you find out you're pregnant is because doctors base your estimated due date on your last period.
Avatar f tn So ur pregnancy isnt counted from gestational age, its counted from ur lmp, and gestational age is 2 wks afta that, is that rite?
209371 tn?1315946940 Has your friend been to an RE? Your post didn't really explain her situation besides length of trying. Has she been trying the 7 years on her own? If so, she should try to have her infertility diagnosed and I would highly recommend a clinic listed on the CDC's website. You can also get their success rates their and can drill down on rates based on type of infertility (i.e. uterine, ovulation, etc.). She should have her uterus, tubes and hormones checked as well as other bloodwork, etc.
