PLMD, RLS and apnea. My neuro put me on mirapex immediately upon seeing the results. I actually feel like myself again. I had no idea that I was sleeping so poorly, especially after hearing about so much fatigue from my friends here. I can wake up and actually be awake!! I still shake, twitch, jerk and am quite tingly. But sleeping well sure makes it all more manageable... So for those of you with sleep disorders, or that think you might, ASK about Mirapex!

I read online that Mirapex is for Parkinson's or RLS Syndrome.... I do not think it is a pain reliever like morphine. Good luck... hope you feel better.

I also take Mirapex for RLS and Parkinson's like syndrome...also called familiale tremors, which is hereditery. I take 1mg. at bedtime each night. The only side effect I have experienced is the dry, yucky tasting mouth in the morning, but brushing my teeth a couple of times usually takes care of the taste, and I keep something to drink on my nightstand every night. I have had great success with Mirapex, in fact I will not go without it...

I take amtadine , 2 capsules a day and 3 mirapex 3 times a day. Any info would b appreciated as my legs look terrible. Also my legs feel like lead from the knees down, is thid part of the problem? Does anyone really know anything about Parkinson's? The meds they put me on for my sleep disorders are parkinson's drugs. It's made me do a lot of research and, quite frankly, get a little bit scared. Stiff, sore, sleep disorders, twitching, jerking.....Not sure if I'm overreacting (as I usually do), but I'm sure nervous. Just wondered what y'all knew! Thanks!

He uses Mirapex to block or work with the Dopamine transmitters. His name is Dr. Wood out of Renton Washington. You might look for the publication on pubnet. It might answer your question fully.

I have tardive dyskinesia which is clinically similar to Parkinson's and I have tardive akathesia which is similar to restless legs syndrome but it would depend on the cause of it. If its clinically similar to Parkinson's, I did not find Bachlophen, Mirapex, Aricept and Requip to be of help but many people do. I was ruled out for Tetrabenzene and Namenda but those have shown to be of help.

hands... she prescribed Mirapex. I have not started it yet and wondered if anyone out there is using this medication and what your thoughts are. She recommended a TENS unit for the rib pain I guess it's caused from a miss-firing message between my spinal cord and my brain, even though no lesions showed on my thoracic MRI doesn't mean they are not there...hummmm.

I have had RLS for years and in the last few months it has gotten much worse. I take Mirapex, which has worked really well, but now I guess I need more of it because it really flares up every evening (all over my body) before it is time to take my meds. I have RLS and PLMD. Spent a few years on Sinemet. Several more on Mirapex, now transitioning to Requip. None of these are without potential side effects. My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful.

I am 58 years old and, after almost 5+ years of symptoms, I am still working with my neurologist to see if what I have is Parkinson's or Parkinson's Plus. Although my sense of smell was pretty much non-existent starting about 7 or so years ago and I was experiencing killer fatigue and some slight coordination problems, I did not develop a resting tremor until about 3 years ago. Gait problems followed.

Wow Kraz - I am sorry that you have had to deal with the problem from Mirapex. I too have RLS and have been on Mirapex for about 2 years, but fortunately have not had a problem with gambling. I am an addict, but have been doing good with that too. Interesting though, your post made me think, there are other things that if I really look at it, I probably do in excess - and have been doing more since on Mirapex. Wonder if there is a connection there.

I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).

So meds that work to increase dopamine levels have been helpful as well- meds like the muscle relaxer, Baclofen, the antidepressant Wellbutrin, and the Parkinson drug Mirapex, which is also good for Restless Legs Syndrome which is a fibro symptom. Alternative treatments and treating underlying causes of fibro, such as sleep apnea and thyroid disease have proven helpful as well.

I have severe Restless leg Syndrome. I have been on Mirapex for about 6 years now, and never had a problem. I am unemployed now, and do not have any health insurance. My doctor has been great to give me samples, however; they are out of them right now. My doctor tried giving me clonazepam 1 mg 2 nights ago, I walked the floors and tossed and turned all night. I called my doctor, and she said to increase my clonazepam to 2mg before bed.

The doctor put me on mirapex. She told me it would make me very sleepy and help to control the jerking and twitching at night to allow me to get better sleep. I spent most of my sleep time in phase 2 sleep with very little time in REM. My question is about the mirapex. Have any of you ever had issues falling asleep while on the mirapex? I find that once I do get to sleep it helps me stay asleep better.

I think the one you are thinking about is called Hylands and it is a supplement.

t know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.

Talked to my doctor again today, while he feels all things point to this being a lyme problem, we're going to keep me on the mirapex, which the neurologist prescribed for parkinson's, and do doxycyclin for a month. Everything that I've read online says it takes month of antibiotics to maybe, MAYBE, get rid of a late stage lyme disease. Have you talked to your mom and brother about getting retested for lyme? Good luck.

Some medications for RLS include those that treat Parkinson's, so that's why they gave you that drug. It is possible the meds are upsetting your tummy, so usually taking them with food helps that. If you are not supposed to take the meds with food, then take it earlier in the day. There are other drugs for RLS, too, if it comes to that. But I think it's the medication that is making your stomach jump around. Try a little alka seltzer, see if that helps.

I'm on .25mg of Mirapex for RLS and am gaining weight. Has anyone else experienced this. Any idea as to why. Suggestions? Thanks!

Because of the Mirapex and Gabapentin I can sleep at all. I still get uncomfortable though. It is pain really, except in my left arm anyway. But, the uncomfortablnes and pain in left arm is toerable. I just need more sleep than i am getting.

Thank you for your feedback. We would also love it if doctors would give out MedHelp's URL to their patients to help track symptoms. Then their patients could just click Email This on their trackers and send it to their doctors for review. We could easily add Restless Legs as a symptom and Mirapex as a treatment to the Sleep Tracker. Would that work for you?
