It's possible. Sleep deprivation causes a generalized nervous system excitability which can manifest in various muscle twitches and spasms. Mirapex (which is also used for Parkinson's) acts in your central nervous system to control your nervous system problems. Did you ever treat your sleep apnea? And if so, how was it treated?

I read online that Mirapex is for Parkinson's or RLS Syndrome.... I do not think it is a pain reliever like morphine. Good luck... hope you feel better.

I also take Mirapex for RLS and Parkinson's like syndrome...also called familiale tremors, which is hereditery. I take 1mg. at bedtime each night. The only side effect I have experienced is the dry, yucky tasting mouth in the morning, but brushing my teeth a couple of times usually takes care of the taste, and I keep something to drink on my nightstand every night. I have had great success with Mirapex, in fact I will not go without it...

Hey there, It's 11:30 pm, and I was asleep for an hour and woke up with RLS. I tossed around for 20 minutes and finally couln't take it any more. So I'm up with all my lights on, and took another sleeping pill. It will kick in soon, I hope. I have been having a rough last few days, feeling extremely tired, too tired to type. I have crohn's and it is making me feel real sore and restless as well. I haven't yet seen a doctor for an update evaluation yet...

I know nothing about Parkinson Disease at all but I do know that they use Parkinson's drugs for restless leg syndrome, so I think it is commonly prescribed for things like that. I have a friend who has restless leg syndrome and she is on some kind of Parkinsons Disease drug and it has helped her a lot, but she was running all night, she was pretty bad. I had never heard of Restless leg syndrome until I met her. Hope someone else can be of more help to you, Udkas.

I take amtadine , 2 capsules a day and 3 mirapex 3 times a day. Any info would b appreciated as my legs look terrible. Also my legs feel like lead from the knees down, is thid part of the problem? My doc just prescribed Mirapex for me. And it helps a great deal. It stimulates the D1, D2, D3 and D4 dopamine receptors. It is an agonist and most especially hits the D4. It really helps the pain but I'm not sure if that is because it relaxs me or if it is actually correcting a deficiency in the dopamine levels that is causing the fibro. It also stimulates something that makes me dream vividly and sleep very lightly (of course, if you dream all night long - you are sleeping lightly!

I have tardive dyskinesia which is clinically similar to Parkinson's and I have tardive akathesia which is similar to restless legs syndrome but it would depend on the cause of it. If its clinically similar to Parkinson's, I did not find Bachlophen, Mirapex, Aricept and Requip to be of help but many people do. I was ruled out for Tetrabenzene and Namenda but those have shown to be of help.

and are you upping the Mirapex? My Mother has been on it for two years , after suffering for decades, its the wonder drug.. There are a couple of members who have both MS and RLS ..Heather and I think Mcbcon... Heather can tell you much about the subject, she has tons of info , Did you say somewhere that you are dizzy and off balance ? ( or was that me :) ) I can't remember where I read that or who , so please forgive if it wasn't you.

Thanks for your comment on Mirapex. Unfortunately for me, it is another drug that increases the dopamine and is also used for Parkinson's disease. It seems that all the drugs in that family of medications, I cannot take. Keep us informed.

My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful. I can give you a few hints on optimizing the effectiveness of your Sinemet rather than keep raising dose: No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine. Small amout of starchy food food can help when taking med, but no large amounts of food before taking the med.

My dr put me on Mirapex several months ago. I was on it for about a month. I thought that the medication was going to kill me! Not only were there significant side effects, bloating, weight gain, sleepiness, but the improvement in my condition was marginal at best. So I quickly came off it. So I'm back to the Azilect. And holding my own. You should try to hold off on any other meds until absolutely necessary.

I was on mirapex for 3 years, my miracle drug, for my RLS during that period I develop a gambling addiction. I find out that this is a side of the mirapex.For the sake of my self and the loss od my my family I choose to get off of it.I It took me 2 trys to get off of them and have suceeded. I no long have the urge to gamble. ,Now I am on simumet for my RLS and it does not work like the mirapex , I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go to sleep.

Surely the doctor who told you to go off the med cold turkey was not a neurologist. Going off these meds abruptly can cause neurological problems. I did it two years ago and still have issues from it. I too have been on both of these meds and have had similar issues. Have you been on Sinemet yet? Requip and Mirapex are dopamine agonists, but Sinemet is a dopamine replacement and is best reserved for when the agonists no longer work.

So meds that work to increase dopamine levels have been helpful as well- meds like the muscle relaxer, Baclofen, the antidepressant Wellbutrin, and the Parkinson drug Mirapex, which is also good for Restless Legs Syndrome which is a fibro symptom. Alternative treatments and treating underlying causes of fibro, such as sleep apnea and thyroid disease have proven helpful as well.

I have severe Restless leg Syndrome. I have been on Mirapex for about 6 years now, and never had a problem. I am unemployed now, and do not have any health insurance. My doctor has been great to give me samples, however; they are out of them right now. My doctor tried giving me clonazepam 1 mg 2 nights ago, I walked the floors and tossed and turned all night. I called my doctor, and she said to increase my clonazepam to 2mg before bed.

Have any of you ever had issues falling asleep while on the mirapex? I find that once I do get to sleep it helps me stay asleep better. But for some reason the mirapex gives me anxiety and makes it harder for me to get to sleep. I spend up to 2 hours just trying to fall asleep. I even tried adding over the counter sleeping pills with it but still find it difficult to get to sleep.

I think the one you are thinking about is called Hylands and it is a supplement.

t know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.

Talked to my doctor again today, while he feels all things point to this being a lyme problem, we're going to keep me on the mirapex, which the neurologist prescribed for parkinson's, and do doxycyclin for a month. Everything that I've read online says it takes month of antibiotics to maybe, MAYBE, get rid of a late stage lyme disease. Have you talked to your mom and brother about getting retested for lyme? Some medications for RLS include those that treat Parkinson's, so that's why they gave you that drug. It is possible the meds are upsetting your tummy, so usually taking them with food helps that. If you are not supposed to take the meds with food, then take it earlier in the day. There are other drugs for RLS, too, if it comes to that. But I think it's the medication that is making your stomach jump around. Try a little alka seltzer, see if that helps.

I'm on .25mg of Mirapex for RLS and am gaining weight. Has anyone else experienced this. Any idea as to why. Suggestions? Thanks!

Because of the Mirapex and Gabapentin I can sleep at all. I still get uncomfortable though. It is pain really, except in my left arm anyway. But, the uncomfortablnes and pain in left arm is toerable. I just need more sleep than i am getting.

Then their patients could just click Email This on their trackers and send it to their doctors for review.
