Mirapex for rls

Common Questions and Answers about Mirapex for rls

mirapex

Avatar m tn I also take Mirapex and it works well for me. I also have eaten bananas and that helps...google rls and see if you can find any other ideas.
Avatar n tn This has kept the RLS under control but about 7pm has sent me to sleep - most inconvenient for evening meetings! Today my specialist put me on Gabapentin - 100mg twice a day for one week, increasing by 100mg per dose per week up to 600mg in the sixth week. I have therefore stopped the Ropinerole. What I forget to ask is what time of day/night it is best to take the Gabapentin capsules. My RLS is (was) bad in the evenings & through the night.
Avatar n tn t know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.
1390101 tn?1281000559 I was on mirapex for 3 years, my miracle drug, for my RLS during that period I develop a gambling addiction. I find out that this is a side of the mirapex. For the sake of my self and the loss od my my family I choose to get off of it.I It took me 2 trys to get off of them and have suceeded. I no long have the urge to gamble. ,Now I am on simumet for my RLS and it does not work like the mirapex , I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go to sleep.
398059 tn?1447945633 I posted a couple of times , Mirapex is what my Mother takes for RLS. Someone else posted that they take it for RLS . Both having great success with it after many many yrs of drs. , meds and NO sleep.
487070 tn?1313665952 I also take Mirapex for RLS and Parkinson's like syndrome...also called familiale tremors, which is hereditery. I take 1mg. at bedtime each night. The only side effect I have experienced is the dry, yucky tasting mouth in the morning, but brushing my teeth a couple of times usually takes care of the taste, and I keep something to drink on my nightstand every night. I have had great success with Mirapex, in fact I will not go without it...
410281 tn?1254229064 I never realized what a good night's sleep felt like until Mirapex....I started out on a drug trial when this medication first was introduced; my dosage was .25mg. Now, 20 years later, I'm up to 1.5 mg per night, but still sleeping like a baby. The OTC "restless leg" drugs are helpful, but nothing works for RLS like Mirapex. If you are without prescription drug coverage or can't afford it, the manufacturer will supply your drugs if you qualify.
Dog But as you know what might work great for one patient might not work great for another. But maybe worth a try.
Avatar n tn I'm on .25mg of Mirapex for RLS and am gaining weight. Has anyone else experienced this. Any idea as to why. Suggestions? Thanks!
Avatar f tn RLS is now listed as a symptom and Mirapex as a treatment in the Pain Tracker. Thanks for the suggestion. Best, MedHelp Pain Tracker: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn Thank you Worried for the detailed information. I had no idea those extra receptor sites never went away!! I guess that's why the experts say that once you are an addict, you always will be. =( I understand the dangers of an addict messing around with dopamine. I just have such a tough time with the RLS. If it was only for four or five days, I could hang in there, but mine tends to last more like 14 or 15 days.
1200450 tn?1317496867 Have any of you ever had issues falling asleep while on the mirapex? I find that once I do get to sleep it helps me stay asleep better. But for some reason the mirapex gives me anxiety and makes it harder for me to get to sleep. I spend up to 2 hours just trying to fall asleep. I even tried adding over the counter sleeping pills with it but still find it difficult to get to sleep.
Avatar f tn Mirapex is amazing for RLS. Also yes a heating pad on your lower back does wonders. Your three days in. I'm twenty. The last three nights I haven't used mirapex or a heating pad. It's awesome! Stay strong. Just think, you really wanna go through everything again?
410281 tn?1254229064 It's possible. Sleep deprivation causes a generalized nervous system excitability which can manifest in various muscle twitches and spasms. Mirapex (which is also used for Parkinson's) acts in your central nervous system to control your nervous system problems. Did you ever treat your sleep apnea? And if so, how was it treated?
405614 tn?1329144114 OK, Is it possible that the Restless Leg Syndrome I was diagnosed with from a sleep study several years ago might have been an early symptom of my maybe possible MS? It recently occured to me that I list RLS as a neurological symptom on medical forms, and that as far as I know there is no real know cause for RLS. Low iron has aggravated it, but it wasn't low when I was tested for RLS.
Avatar m tn I had tried all the usual medications for rls before taking the Ultram. I have tried requip, mirapex, sinamet, gabapentin, lyrica and a host of others. Ultram was the only one that worked well. For three and a half years I was free of the rls syptoms. Now though I am afraid I am going to experience not only increased rls symptoms but also the other withdrawl symptoms associated with quiting the Ultram. I am looking for responses from others that have been in this boat.
1182133 tn?1266851531 s 0436, day 7 no vics and I did sleep about 6 hours, but I take 1mg klonopin every night for fibro and I take mirapex for RLS -- the vicodin also helps with RLS but the mirapex works better I promise...I get it in my legs, hips and arms and I just want to scream.......see if you can get some samples of that or requip bcuz even with insurance they are expensive. You can get through it - it will get better, oh, just remembered...mirapex.
1091472 tn?1268845655 yes it did work for me if its not working then I would go see your for something prescription for rls they have a few things now
Avatar f tn Welcome, welcome welcome!! I am a long time sufferer of Restless Leg Syndrome, now called 'Restless Limb Syndrome,' since it's known to affect the arms AND the legs. I cannot take any of the dopamine medications to help with the RLS. RLS has now affected my arms as well as my legs. Sleeping escapes me on so many nights. I bite my arms in a useless effort to stop the creepy crawling sensations. I also was diagnosed with MS 14 years ago.
Avatar f tn But waht i wanted to comment was something i read here from a poster about some meds for RLS... mirapex and requip... it seems they increase the dopamine levels with some side effects not to get overlooked by someone with addiction issues... The poster shared her experience with mirapex of getting addicted to gambling. It can happen. She even left a link of a documental made in Canada about this terrible effect of mirapex.
Avatar f tn Yesterday my doctor prescribed me Mirapex Pramipexole Dihydrochloride tablets 0.125mg. I took two before bed and no RLS! I slept for 12 hours! BTW I'm down to one 10mg oxyneo and one 5mg oxtcocet. Staying like this for another day and than hitting ground zero tomorrow. Praying it won't be to bad, but with this new med for RLS I think I'm gong to be OK.
Avatar f tn I HAVE RLS FOR MANY YEARS AND I AM ON 3MG REQUIP AND 1 MG KLONPIN, THAT HAS BEEN HELPING UP TO NOW. I DISCOVERED THAT MY THYROID IS VERY LOW. COULD THAT BE WHY MY RLS IS GETTING WORSE. I REALLY NEED SOME SLEEP!!! WHAT OTHER MEDS ARE HELPFUL. I REALLY HAVE ALOT OF PAIN IN MY LEGS ALSO. THANKS FOR AMY HELP.
10905573 tn?1436924423 The normal medications used for rls, are pregnancy category c and should not be used. For some women iron can help. Good luck.
279948 tn?1241270076 However, when thinking of the future, I will have to admit I am more frightened of RLS which I have had since I was seven. I am taking Mirapex for relief of this torturous malady, but now I am afraid of the drug. I take .25mg four times a day. I have had episodes of going to sleep and dropping whatever it is I have in my hands. As of today, I am trying to cut down and take half a dose in the morning and at noon. The drug has made my life bearable.
539156 tn?1281818356 I have had RLS for years and in the last few months it has gotten much worse. I take Mirapex, which has worked really well, but now I guess I need more of it because it really flares up every evening (all over my body) before it is time to take my meds. I feel like I am falling apart! Numb hands and feet...apnea....RLS...blurry left eye....FATIGUE.....Sorry, I think I am having a pity party. Thanks to all for being there!
Avatar f tn From the many times I have went thru wds I know this is the last thing u wanna hear but I have found nothing that helps wih rls I have even tried mirapex which is made for rls and it did not help a lick some ppm say hymena rls helps but it didn't me but u coul try it they sell it at walmart it's OTC and not expensive but I think nothing works because the cause of the rls when in withdrawals is not what causes people who actually have rls so the Mesa don't help but I am no doc and don
1428639 tn?1283043789 Hi & Welcome, Just so I am clear..you went on a Methadone program to help come off of the pain meds, right? Now you went back on the pain pills to help with the Methadone withdrawal? I guess that is where i am confused. You did a very fast taper, although the dose was relatively low. No doubt you are suffering rls from the withdrawal (Methadone) which has a long half-life so 7 days is not a long time. I don't know if it effects you but Mirapex actually made my rls worse.
