Mirapex side effects rls

Common Questions and Answers about Mirapex side effects rls

mirapex

487070 tn?1313665952 I hate the side effects but it seems to be working for the most part. I understand it is mainly used for Parkinson's diasease and sometimes RLS. Does anyone take this for their RLS? If so how much? Supossedly it helps increase Dopmine levels which PLMD and Parkinson disorders have in common.I'm not sure if RLS is caused by low Dopamine or not. I feel like YUCK. I have had a dry, horse throat all winter & I think it may be a side effect.
Avatar n tn I have RLS and take Mirapex, .25mg about an hour before bed. It has worked great for me. I tried the Gabapentin and got up to 1200 mg - which was also taken before bed, but it did nothing for me. I have been told that Mirapex works much better than Ropinerol - you may want to talk to your doc about Mirapex as an option - it just went generic.
279948 tn?1241270076 I have read the awful side effects of behavior with Mirapex and also think anything that works on the dopamine in your brain is risky and they warn of gambling or other things, like shopping. That is me. I like to look nice and shop too much. I use a walker and handcontrols on my car - somehow, I think my style counteracts the walker and the hand controls. Crazy, ins't it?. The last five years before I retired was before Mirapex and it was literally HELL.
Avatar f tn He determined this to be rare side effects from Requip. Took me off straightaway. I hated that because it worked so well, but side effects were intolerable. This as of April 28th. Was started on Sinemet. Was told this does not work as well as Requip, but was less likely to have same side effects. Said he could add darvocet if necesary. Also take ativan 1mg 3 x daily since the brain surgery, and 1-2 at night for help with sleep. Every other sleep aid made above symptoms worse.
Avatar f tn But waht i wanted to comment was something i read here from a poster about some meds for RLS... mirapex and requip... it seems they increase the dopamine levels with some side effects not to get overlooked by someone with addiction issues... The poster shared her experience with mirapex of getting addicted to gambling. It can happen. She even left a link of a documental made in Canada about this terrible effect of mirapex.
Avatar m tn I have RLS - not related to withdrawal - and I take prescription Mirapex. It works great. If your father is having trouble with RLS not related to opiate or other drug withdrawal, you may want to see your doctor.
Avatar n tn t know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.
398059 tn?1447945633 I posted a couple of times , Mirapex is what my Mother takes for RLS. Someone else posted that they take it for RLS . Both having great success with it after many many yrs of drs. , meds and NO sleep.
Avatar f tn and suddenly started having problems? If my sleep study confirms the RLS, and I start mirapex or something similiar... please.... someone tell me it cured them. I love my job, my husband, and my kids.... I'm so afraid the fatigue is going to interfere with the poeple and things I love.
Avatar f tn /8 hrs), this formula has worked great for me for both pain and RLS. however with all these medications are going to have their own side effects or maybe the side effects from this one will be different than the other. About norcotic pain medication-- you need to get into pain management, and what's with that pain management doctor to get stronger medication.
515698 tn?1211489523 Last year they started me on Neurontin and between that and pain meds I finally found a balance that stoped it no problems until about 4 weeks ago when I tried to nap during the day ( very tired) as doon as I got I guess to rem sleep I would be awakened with a feeling kind of like RLS but all the way down my rt side, a twitching , pinching, sharp pain that was unbearable . But now it seems it stays longer in my upper arm , shoulder and under my shoulder blade.
410281 tn?1254229064 I never realized what a good night's sleep felt like until Mirapex....I started out on a drug trial when this medication first was introduced; my dosage was .25mg. Now, 20 years later, I'm up to 1.5 mg per night, but still sleeping like a baby. The OTC "restless leg" drugs are helpful, but nothing works for RLS like Mirapex. If you are without prescription drug coverage or can't afford it, the manufacturer will supply your drugs if you qualify.
405614 tn?1329144114 i have bad rls oh my i tell you i have tried every thing and the only thing that gives me relief is mirapex ...its a god send many many nites i would be moving my legs so bad i would cry ...but not anymore thank god....take care of yourself....((((((hugs)))))....
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
Avatar n tn I'm on .25mg of Mirapex for RLS and am gaining weight. Has anyone else experienced this. Any idea as to why. Suggestions? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Mirapex is for RLS, I take a very low dose, .0125 mg. I use to wake up in so much pain from RLS, wanting to move my legs, achy, couldnt be still. I tried everything to no avail, except the bananas, and the Mirapex, I would also take a very hot bath before I went to bed, it seem to relax my muscles so I could at least get to sleep. have you talked to your doctor? there are other meds available that are not a narcotic, Mirapex isnt but I am not sure about requip.
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding. I would really like to track the RLS and the Mirapex in the Pain Tracker if that is at all possible. I'm hoping to have one place to chart all my various symptoms and treatments for submission to my physician for inclusion in my medical record files.
1428639 tn?1283043789 Hi & Welcome, Just so I am clear..you went on a Methadone program to help come off of the pain meds, right? Now you went back on the pain pills to help with the Methadone withdrawal? I guess that is where i am confused. You did a very fast taper, although the dose was relatively low. No doubt you are suffering rls from the withdrawal (Methadone) which has a long half-life so 7 days is not a long time. I don't know if it effects you but Mirapex actually made my rls worse.
Avatar m tn Madtram is correct. One of the primary withdrawal side effects of Trams even if you didnt have RLS prior, is RLS. I get it in my neck and arms the most but as far as the one of the worse symptoms is just that. However I can also relate to how it helps in that department if you take it. It is because the drug effects the central nervous system..not a scientist but it does work. Worked for me too.
Avatar f tn Surely the doctor who told you to go off the med cold turkey was not a neurologist. Going off these meds abruptly can cause neurological problems. I did it two years ago and still have issues from it. I too have been on both of these meds and have had similar issues. Have you been on Sinemet yet? Requip and Mirapex are dopamine agonists, but Sinemet is a dopamine replacement and is best reserved for when the agonists no longer work.
Avatar f tn Mirapex is amazing for RLS. Also yes a heating pad on your lower back does wonders. Your three days in. I'm twenty. The last three nights I haven't used mirapex or a heating pad. It's awesome! Stay strong. Just think, you really wanna go through everything again?
410281 tn?1254229064 I was recently diagnosed with RLS, PLMD and apnea. Upon diagnosis, my neurologist started me on Mirapex. I started at .25 mg nightly, but now am at .5. My question is this: I had been having a lot of unexplained symptoms such as tremor, muscle twitching and jerking, tingling in my extremeties and severe eye pain and facial numbness. Migraine was ruled out. Since I started on the mirapex most of my symptoms have either gone away completely or greatly diminished.
351846 tn?1273615544 I was wondering if anybody else on sub. experience side effects? One of my biggest is tiredness and lack of motivation.. Whats everybody elses? I've been on 16mg for 4yrs now. Down from 32mg.
