Mirapex and rls

Common Questions and Answers about Mirapex and rls

mirapex

Avatar m tn I also take Mirapex and it works well for me. I also have eaten bananas and that helps...google rls and see if you can find any other ideas.
Avatar n tn I have RLS and take Mirapex, .25mg about an hour before bed. It has worked great for me. I tried the Gabapentin and got up to 1200 mg - which was also taken before bed, but it did nothing for me. I have been told that Mirapex works much better than Ropinerol - you may want to talk to your doc about Mirapex as an option - it just went generic.
Avatar n tn t know about the Monavie but what I take and is wonderful is Mirapex. I take it 3 times a day and have no restless legs unless I skip a dose or run out and then the RLS returns. I hope this has helped.
Avatar n tn ll know whether to adjust the oxygen saturation and pressure and/or adjust your RLS meds... sometimes Mirapex will indeed lose its effectiveness over time and need a change.
1390101 tn?1281000559 Wow Kraz - I am sorry that you have had to deal with the problem from Mirapex. I too have RLS and have been on Mirapex for about 2 years, but fortunately have not had a problem with gambling. I am an addict, but have been doing good with that too. Interesting though, your post made me think, there are other things that if I really look at it, I probably do in excess - and have been doing more since on Mirapex. Wonder if there is a connection there.
398059 tn?1447945633 Because of the Mirapex and Gabapentin I can sleep at all. I still get uncomfortable though. It is pain really, except in my left arm anyway. But, the uncomfortablnes and pain in left arm is toerable. I just need more sleep than i am getting.
539156 tn?1281818356 I have had RLS for years and in the last few months it has gotten much worse. I take Mirapex, which has worked really well, but now I guess I need more of it because it really flares up every evening (all over my body) before it is time to take my meds. I feel like I am falling apart! Numb hands and feet...apnea....RLS...blurry left eye....FATIGUE.....Sorry, I think I am having a pity party. Thanks to all for being there!
Avatar f tn Just wondering if there is a connection between RLS and MS. I started out 3 years ago diagnosed with RLS. I went to the doctor because I was soooo tired. Over the past three years I have a whole bunch of other things going on, plus the RLS is out of control. When I go to bed at night, I can't even lay and watch tv. My legs start with the pulsing, pins and needles and the need to stretch. I can't stand it so I have to take my meds (Mirapex), which puts me to sleep.
279948 tn?1241270076 I have talked with someone who gets infusions every several months to keep her iron up and control her severe RLS. She says her RLS symptoms are dramatically better after an infusion. But then again, her iron issues are not the norm, and one who doesn't have her issues would not need this treatment or see such results. Hope you find solutions for your RLS. And "torturous" was an apt description.
487070 tn?1313665952 I also take Mirapex for RLS and Parkinson's like syndrome...also called familiale tremors, which is hereditery. I take 1mg. at bedtime each night. The only side effect I have experienced is the dry, yucky tasting mouth in the morning, but brushing my teeth a couple of times usually takes care of the taste, and I keep something to drink on my nightstand every night. I have had great success with Mirapex, in fact I will not go without it...
410281 tn?1254229064 PLMD, RLS and apnea. My neuro put me on mirapex immediately upon seeing the results. I actually feel like myself again. I had no idea that I was sleeping so poorly, especially after hearing about so much fatigue from my friends here. I can wake up and actually be awake!! I still shake, twitch, jerk and am quite tingly. But sleeping well sure makes it all more manageable... So for those of you with sleep disorders, or that think you might, ASK about Mirapex!
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
Avatar n tn I'm on .25mg of Mirapex for RLS and am gaining weight. Has anyone else experienced this. Any idea as to why. Suggestions? Thanks!
Avatar n tn there is a good article in the health pages on rls and a study done on rls patients....read it..learn the cause of ur symptoms and it cam mhelp u understand..
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding. I would really like to track the RLS and the Mirapex in the Pain Tracker if that is at all possible. I'm hoping to have one place to chart all my various symptoms and treatments for submission to my physician for inclusion in my medical record files.
1200450 tn?1317496867 The doctor put me on mirapex. She told me it would make me very sleepy and help to control the jerking and twitching at night to allow me to get better sleep. I spent most of my sleep time in phase 2 sleep with very little time in REM. My question is about the mirapex. Have any of you ever had issues falling asleep while on the mirapex? I find that once I do get to sleep it helps me stay asleep better.
Avatar f tn I have RLS and PLMD. Spent a few years on Sinemet. Several more on Mirapex, now transitioning to Requip. None of these are without potential side effects. My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful.
Avatar f tn Mirapex is amazing for RLS. Also yes a heating pad on your lower back does wonders. Your three days in. I'm twenty. The last three nights I haven't used mirapex or a heating pad. It's awesome! Stay strong. Just think, you really wanna go through everything again?
410281 tn?1254229064 I had been having a lot of unexplained symptoms such as tremor, muscle twitching and jerking, tingling in my extremeties and severe eye pain and facial numbness. Migraine was ruled out. Since I started on the mirapex most of my symptoms have either gone away completely or greatly diminished. Could they have been simply caused by the sleep deprivation? Thanks for your time.
405614 tn?1329144114 i have bad rls oh my i tell you i have tried every thing and the only thing that gives me relief is mirapex ...its a god send many many nites i would be moving my legs so bad i would cry ...but not anymore thank god....take care of yourself....((((((hugs)))))....
1182133 tn?1266851531 s 0436, day 7 no vics and I did sleep about 6 hours, but I take 1mg klonopin every night for fibro and I take mirapex for RLS -- the vicodin also helps with RLS but the mirapex works better I promise...I get it in my legs, hips and arms and I just want to scream.......see if you can get some samples of that or requip bcuz even with insurance they are expensive. You can get through it - it will get better, oh, just remembered...mirapex.
1091472 tn?1268845655 apparently it has worked for lots of people, I agree with avisg contact your doctor for a script, there are medications available that are not narcotic, I take mirapex at bedtime and it works well for me. also try taking super hot baths with epsom salt right before bed.
Avatar f tn But waht i wanted to comment was something i read here from a poster about some meds for RLS... mirapex and requip... it seems they increase the dopamine levels with some side effects not to get overlooked by someone with addiction issues... The poster shared her experience with mirapex of getting addicted to gambling. It can happen. She even left a link of a documental made in Canada about this terrible effect of mirapex.
Avatar n tn never heard of it and when you get off the methadone it causes RLS so Im very confused as to why they perscribed it
Avatar f tn I HAVE RLS FOR MANY YEARS AND I AM ON 3MG REQUIP AND 1 MG KLONPIN, THAT HAS BEEN HELPING UP TO NOW. I DISCOVERED THAT MY THYROID IS VERY LOW. COULD THAT BE WHY MY RLS IS GETTING WORSE. I REALLY NEED SOME SLEEP!!! WHAT OTHER MEDS ARE HELPFUL. I REALLY HAVE ALOT OF PAIN IN MY LEGS ALSO. THANKS FOR AMY HELP.
10905573 tn?1436924423 The normal medications used for rls, are pregnancy category c and should not be used. For some women iron can help. Good luck.
