mirapex

Avatar n tn I am diagnosed with bipolar disorder. i take lithium ER 450mg BID, Mirapex 1mg for RLS, and zoloft 100mg to treat depression. I can usually fall asleep, however i wake and stay up for a few hours every night. i have tried benedryl, klonopin, trazadone, serequil, and elavil for relief however every one of these meds has a paradoxical effect on me. Any suggestions?
574118 tn?1305135284 I do know that taking an antidepressant without a mood stabilizer can cause mania, also I take Mirapex (a dopamine drug) to help treat my fibro and I'm under "special watch" because the dopamine meds can cause mania even in people that aren't bipolar. My husband was taking Mirapex as well for his fibro and he had to stop because it made him feel manic, and he's not bipolar. So I can't speak for the seratonin, but the dopamine can definitely make someone manic.
Avatar f tn ve been unable to get lethargy/motivation/depression wrapped up. I am treated for bipolar 2, severe restless leg syndrome and sleep apnea. Summer 2012 I finished chemo and radiation for stage 3 breast cancer (mastectomy 8/2011). Currently, I take Lithium 900mg, Mirapex 1.5mg, Arimidex 1mg, Xarelto 20mg, Iron 65mg and (vitamin)D3 2000IU. Lithium level is 1. I'm curious as to what might be my thyroid treatment?
Avatar f tn t want to question your doctors decision to have you on adderall and mirapex. On the other hand IF and only if your diagnosis is Major depression (either uni-polar or bi-polar) then I do find those two medications very unusual for any Psychiatrist to prescribe. First off, Adderall is a central nervous system stimulant. It affects chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control.

723341 tn?1232338253 Hi , I have Bipolar and RLS . I can share all details if somebody needs it. For Now I must say that my bipolar is being difficult to treat because many drugs for my bipolar highly increase my RLS. Just keep praying to God and keep exploring methods to manage these issues.
749148 tn?1302860959 hands... she prescribed Mirapex. I have not started it yet and wondered if anyone out there is using this medication and what your thoughts are. She recommended a TENS unit for the rib pain I guess it's caused from a miss-firing message between my spinal cord and my brain, even though no lesions showed on my thoracic MRI doesn't mean they are not there...hummmm.
8899291 tn?1407195461 There are different kinds of mood disorders, not just depression or bipolar disorder. There are also subcategories...
462570 tn?1273632977 t beleive that it helps to manage true chronic pain although depression and anxiety can aggravate pain. A shortage or excess of these and similar neurotransmitters are thought to be responsible for emotional disorders like anxiety, depression, ADHD, social anxiety and mood disorder. Someone who has Parkinson’s disease lacks Dopamine. This question is best suited for the specialists. It takes years of education to have a good understand of how all these work together for proper functioning.
2190999 tn?1504988891 I have read that one difference between general depression and bipolar depression is a persons energy level. It's a matter of feeling unable to perform even the simplest daily tasks because of overwhelming fatigue, instead of the general depressive sadness, hopelessness, ambivalence, etc. Does that make sense to anyone? Another difference is the depth of depression. The suicide rate for bipolar disorder is considerably higher than general depression rates.
Avatar f tn I'm bipolar & have pretty bad anxiety. I'd been off meds for awhile & don't wanna be on them again until Kyri is born b/c of the side effects. It seems that pregnancy has made my depression much worse. Has this happened to anyone else & what do u do to make it better. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hi, I noticed that no one had answered you yet, perhaps it is because there may be no clear cut answer to your question. I am sorry that you are suffering from recurrent depression. I do as well. Has your doctor talked to you about any of the various "bipolar" issues? The classic "bipolar" or "manic-depression" illness has alternating moods of depression and high-euphoria.
1191309 tn?1266953136 Hi. From your description, it sounds like bipolar disorder, which is treatable through medication. But considering your age it would be best to see a doctor for an accurate diagnosis. You should talk to your parents about this and seek a professional evaluation.
918275 tn?1254068752 Why does it seem like the pdocs are not addressing the severe bipolar depression with meds that target depression? Why are we given only mood stabilizers. Depression is a killer, it takes your life away cause your are in bed for days and nights without the energy to get up, and then when you finally do get out of bed you know that it is only for a short time and you dread it cause you know without a doubt you will be back in the same boat once again. Over and over and over.
136956 tn?1688675680 Other than restless leg syndrome other possibilities that may need to be considered are vascular issues, peripheral neuropathy, musculopathies, hormonal/ endocrine issues, micronutrient deficiencies, infections, stress/ depression etc. Without an evaluation it would be difficult to say what effect would a particular drug have on it. I would suggest consulting an internist, preferable at a university/ teaching hospital for an evaluation and appropriate management. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn I think that diagnosis is kind of controversial right now, but it does illustrate the way that bipolar illness may fall on a spectrum from straight up unipolar depression at point A to full blown manic depression at point B. Bipolar type 3 would maybe be depression with only "soft signs" of bipolar disorder.
559509 tn?1216180446 Does anyone out there take Risperdal for Bipolar Disorder? I don't see hardly any mention of it around this site. Does it make you gain weight like Depakote? Does anyone out there take it for Bipolar Disorder Type 2? Any opinions or thoughts? I am currently on Lamictal and Welbutrin. I show mixed tendencies ( is that type 1 ),and my Dr gave me Risperdal for what appeard to be a manic state( I was off all meds at the time except Welbutrin which may have excaserbated my mania).
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed 2 yrs ago with bipolar type 2, where depression is the main symptom. Recently I've been having a lot of issues with anger, irritability, and these paranoid like thoughts that my bf is cheating on me, going to leave, etc. I'm cycling rapidly where one minute I'm ok, the next I'm sad, then I become very angry. I'm on Zoloft..been on lexapro and abilify at the same time and that combo caused me to have horrible suicidal thoughts.
410281 tn?1254229064 PLMD, RLS and apnea. My neuro put me on mirapex immediately upon seeing the results. I actually feel like myself again. I had no idea that I was sleeping so poorly, especially after hearing about so much fatigue from my friends here. I can wake up and actually be awake!! I still shake, twitch, jerk and am quite tingly. But sleeping well sure makes it all more manageable... So for those of you with sleep disorders, or that think you might, ASK about Mirapex!
3579868 tn?1348739509 I know of four bipolar 1 with or without psychotic features, bipolar 2, bipolar nos, and cyclothimia. With bipolar 1 you get full blown mania and major depression, with bipolar 2 you get hypomania and major depression. cyclothimia fluctuates between minor depression and hypomania. Bipolar nos is where they put you when you obviously show some symptoms of bipolar disorder but they do not know which classification to put you in.
899491 tn?1243773627 Actually many atypical antipsychotics (if not all) are FDA approved for treating bipolar as well. The full spectrum of bipolar is complex. Bipolar with psychotic features is not that rare. When a person has bipolar with psychotic features they have psychosis specifically during moodswings. When a person has schizoaffective as I do they experience psychosis all the time (as I did before my current recovery).
Avatar n tn Where can I find info on what drugs there are for bipolar? what is the difference between bipolar and depression?
1360950 tn?1277656603 I think the answer to your question is "yes" except that from the viewpoint of psychiatry we would say that you always "had" bipolar depression, but for many people bipolar depression manifests as recurrent depression for years before showing the energized symptoms. Which definitely doesn't mean that you were misdiagnosed, it just may take a while to know for sure.
91034 tn?1401416303 same thing happened to me Two years ago couldn't stop crying and shaking. All the years I thought I was depressed I was given antidepressants that made me worse. About 8 months ago I was diagnosed with bipolar. I don't want to make the post about me, just sounds similar, especially the not sleeping for days...sounds like bipolar to me. Maybe you should discuss it with your psoc...good luck to you, I know what you're going through.
1390101 tn?1281000559 Wow Kraz - I am sorry that you have had to deal with the problem from Mirapex. I too have RLS and have been on Mirapex for about 2 years, but fortunately have not had a problem with gambling. I am an addict, but have been doing good with that too. Interesting though, your post made me think, there are other things that if I really look at it, I probably do in excess - and have been doing more since on Mirapex. Wonder if there is a connection there.
1182133 tn?1266851531 s 0436, day 7 no vics and I did sleep about 6 hours, but I take 1mg klonopin every night for fibro and I take mirapex for RLS -- the vicodin also helps with RLS but the mirapex works better I promise...I get it in my legs, hips and arms and I just want to scream.......see if you can get some samples of that or requip bcuz even with insurance they are expensive. You can get through it - it will get better, oh, just remembered...mirapex.
