My son has been on warfarin since he was 7 weeks old due to having a mechanical Mitral valve replacement. His INR today is 4.8. The highest it's ever been.He is six months now and just starting solids which may be why the INR has been all over the place. I have been instructed to withhold his dose tonight and I'll test him again tomorrow. I've been doing some reading that INR of 4.8 is undesirable but not overly dangerous. Is that the case for babies as well?
t see how they could treat with warfarin under those circumstances. Anyone taking warfarin must be monitored routinely with a PT to check clotting factor. Warfarin can be some nasty stuff but if reduces fibrosis what the heck. They've thrown every other drug at us and we still keep bouncing back. Thanks for the info.
I have recently been put on Warfarin for Paroxysmal Atrial Fib. I feel miserable and anxious on this drug. They continue to up my dose, 11mg. at present. I have decided to quit the Warfarin but wonder how to go about this. Do I quit cold turkey or taper off? Anyone else has quit Warfarin and how did you do it?
I have been on plavix for years with no problem but this warfarin is messing with me big time. I have been dealing with migraines for a couple weeks and after the first dose it seemed to help..even when i got up i felt much better not like my whole circulation was contricted like it normally does...same this morning...but i also had a headache yesterday that felt different that developed..
Sorry you had so many problems with warfarin. For people with a-fib such as yourself, there are more options than there are for mech valve patients, if for some reason warfarin is not tolerable. But I have to stick by my statement that the side effects you experienced are not what is expected, usual, or common with warfarin.
Hi ladies ! I was given this drug to help with BV. I'm currently 23 weeks as of today, and this is my first baby. Have any of you taken it before and had any issues? 9 (should be between 2-3) and then when I saw a lady Spanish doctor I told her I had diarrhea she said I could not go back on the Warfarin because its dangerous with diarrhea, I must continue with injections, I objected saying but it is the injection making me have diarrhea. She refused but put me on different injections Hibor. Instructing me to take injections only for 5 days and then injection and Warfarin for 4 days before going to my local clinic.
at first i didnt bother it but after my medication in soar throat and allergy(urcatitaria), my vagina started to became itchy and again, everyday i started having green discharged for `1 week. i went to a gynecologist and she prescribed me a metronidazole miconazole vaginal suppository and ive used that for `1 week.. now what my problem is, my white discharge had stop.. i am also currently taking up medice for my UTI and had experiexed sex but that was like long time ago...
I had to take it last week for 5 days. Everything is great with baby. It does say that there is no harm to take it however I understand your concern. I'm 27w 5d I'm sure I would've been me hesitant at 6 weeks.
I just finished a week on it. Same here, bacterial vaginosis. I had it 3 times with my second pregnancy. It was miserable. Hoping I don't have to take that stuff ever again!
For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily).
I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm.
My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night?
I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
I have the same history you do, of valve surgery and post-surgical HIT. You can take warfarin with a history of HIT. If you happen to have a mechanical valve, I'm sure you already are taking warfarin. If you're on warfarin, and you're wondering what to use for bridging, that would be Arixtra (fondaparinux). Fondaparinux is dispensed in syringes for subcutaneous injection, to be self-administered once a day. I've used it, and it's easy.
- why a clot should form in my heart when the muscles were damaged six years back and considering that I am on aspirin+clopidogrel which too have anti clotting function.
- warfarin may be slightly better as compared to aspirin+ clopidogrel, but in my case with no AF, does it makes sense getting into this risky business of conatantly monitoring of INR and fear of bleeding.
- I have seen on net some other drugs in market which are equally good as warfarin with lower risk of bleeding.
