Avatar f tn The reason that the other poster could have been cured by cipro is that she may have had a Mycoplasma and it may have been sensitive to ciprofloxacin. But the standard treatment for bv is either metronidazole or Clindamycin. So you can try the cipro and see if it clears up but if it doesn't then if can take clindamycin I would then take probiotics after. Cipro can treat a lot of UTI's but not all. It depends on the bacteria that is causing the infection and how resistant it is.
Avatar m tn caps fitted until my bridge was ready, once the bridge was fitted the sensitivity went off but I still could not chew with it, it always pained, after 4 months I underwent a course of Antibiotics (4 days Amoxycillin - no help) followed by (5 days Cipro 500mg + Metronidazole 500mg) and it seemed i could start biting with it, so obviously there was an infection but I could feel it was not 100%, still it was sensitive, the day i would do a lot of chewing with that tooth it pained later but this wa
Avatar m tn I got Giardia (intestinal parasite) from river water and was prescribed first Cipro for "travelers diarrhea" and when that didn't work I was prescribed Metronidazole for Giardia. I took Cipro for 5 days then Metronidazole for 10. During the course of Metro I started having chest pain. I dismissed them because I was having muscle pains in virtually all my muscles off an on. I became more concerned after I began waking up with my chest vibrating like a cell phone!
Avatar m tn The surgeon-urologist (this was in Europe) just visually inspected my penis, performed a quick ultrasound scan of my lower abdomen and diagnosed me with Trichomonas Vaginalis. He also mentioned that my prostate was enlarged. Her prescribed Cipro, 500 mg 2 x day for 10 days, and a Detreomycin 2% ointment to apply to the head of my penis. The symptomes subsided after about 3 days, and they appeared to go away.
Avatar f tn From what ive gathered by reading some of the other similar posts, it sounds like some sort of bacteria/yeast infection that can settle in your prostate. I told this to my urologist and convinced him to let me try Cipro for a month which i am currently on.
Avatar m tn So 10 days ago I cam back from Mexico on vacation two days later I started to have dysuria (painful urination). I went in to my PCP and he checked for all STD's and gave me Cipro. After 5 days it wasn't helping and the tests gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, HIV and others were all negative. I came back in and was tested Trichomoniasis gonorrhea, and chlamydia while being prescribed metronidazole and azithromycin as prophylactic.
Avatar m tn Today I have started metronidazole 400 mg with cipro 500mg Bid to rule out any E.coli or Trichomoniasis related prostatitis. IRight now no medical facility near by and have to wait for another 7 days to get expert medical help USG and tests etc. Question: The symptoms I have confuse me is it possible to have prostatitis 7 days post exposure? Apart from been in Pain and discomfort I am freaking out.......
Avatar m tn Metronidazole 400g Twice a day for 5 days Fourth Time (July) - Ciprofloxacin - 500mg Twice a day for 2 weeks The fourth recommendation of Cipro was from a urologist who guaranteed it would work, though I have yet to see any research online connected with the cure of NSU and Cipro. I am now coming to the near end of the Cipro course and I have had some mild relief but symptoms still very much prevalent. One of the swab tests I have came back positive and the rest negative.
Avatar f tn ve had terrible problems with yeast my whole life, so my doctor called me in diflucan and that helped for a while. I was also called in cipro to see if it would help with anything urinary related. The cipro helped a lot but symptoms reaccured. I finally broke down and went to the gynecologist. Test came back positive for yeast and nothing else. I had several rounds of diflucan with no luck. And last time I went to the doctor..
Avatar n tn They tested for gonorrhea, and chlamydia and UTI (all neg). They gave me Cipro for 9 days. A week later, my wife began to have vaginal discharge and was diagnosed with Trichomonas. We had an honest talk and I let her know what had happened. She used the Metronidale gel for 5 days and her symptoms disappeared. I took Metronidazole 500 mg PO q12h x 7 days. I thought I started to feel better toward the 6th day, but still with some urge to urinate and discomfort.
Avatar f tn All the Test came back Negative, she put me on Cipro before she knew the Results. Today Was my Last day on The Cipro and I woke up to the same green/yellow discharge I have been having. I told her and she prescribed Flagyl 3x a day for 7 days @ 500mg a dose. My Questions are: Could it really be Trich even though she said she didn't see it on the Microscope? I did have anal/vaginal sex so could it be from cross contamination?
Avatar n tn Hi! I recently had a root canal and was prescribed clindamycin too....I too have allergies to other antibiotics. The clindomycin did NOTHING and the infection got worse so now I am on CIPRO which was my own idea. I don't know if it is working 100% yet, but at least the infection has died down and I can tell it is helping......
1770925 tn?1365618522 Peripheral neuropathy has been seen in association with the following antibiotics metronidazole, nitrofurantoin, thalidomide and isoniazid. Avatar m tn Doc gave doxy and metronidazole for 10 days which cleared the burning sensation and some testicular and groin pain but not the urgency and frequency to urinate. After those 10 days, one day I woke up and had a hard to time to start peeing and had a very weak stream: new diagnosis - prostatitis. Doc gave me cipro and doxy 8 days with no result. Bactrim for 10 days, no result. As I live in Africa, I went to Portugal to get a second opinion, and the doctor gave me levo for 20 days; no result.
Avatar n tn He tested again and everything came back negative. He prescribed 3 weeks of Cipro, which had no effect and my symptoms got worse. I went back to see him and he told me that he wanted three more weeks of Cipro even though they symptoms were getting worse. I decided to go to another doctor. I went to another doctor and he prescribed 1g of Zmax, and 10 days of 500mg twice daily of Metronidazole.
Avatar m tn No discharge I visted the doctor a week after these symptoms started and told him about the Oral Sex, he told me that was low risk and said I probably had a UTI and prescribed me a weeks worth of cipro. My symptoms continued throughout the week while I was taking the meds.So I returned to the doctor on Mar 2 with symptoms still so I took an chlamydia gonorrhea test that came back negative.
Avatar f tn Take CIPRO Oral Suspension in the morning and evening at about the same time each day. ... Do not split, crush or chew the tablet. metronidazole Metoprolol should be taken with food or just after a meal. A Toprol XL tablet can be divided in half if your doctor has told you to do so. The half tablet should be swallowed whole, without chewing or crushing. Chewing or crushing the pill could cause too much of the drug to be released at one time.
Avatar m tn Hi Gregory..agree with CalGal. The cipro is an antibiotic and may "mask" the stool sample results. The other is an anti diahrrea med, and will...well make it tougher to provide said sample..lol. May wanna also check out probiotics during your antibiotic round - there are a few brands that will "survive" the cipro and help replenish your gut (Florastor is one). Is your hospital's "main lab" open 24 hours?
Avatar n tn The discharge was not green, yellow or white, but looked to be a thicker urine basically. I went to the doctor and was given Cipro. I also had a urine screen and urethra swab for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. The urine came back negative, but the swab test hasn't come back yet. After getting the Cipro, I took one pill but was still concerned. I went to the STD clinic and recieved a Rocefin injection, 1g Zithromax and 2g of Metronidazole.
Avatar f tn t entirely surprised by it, and it quickly resolved with a course of Cipro. However, a few weeks after the UTI I developed a pretty substantial case of diarrhea that lasted for an entire week. I went to the doctor and was told I likely have C. diff due to being on recent antibiotics and because I work in a hospital setting. I was prescribed a course of Flagyl.
Avatar n tn He prescribed me Cipro and said it was too early from my encounter for a blood test for herpes. He would not prescribe anything for my girlfriend. That same day I went to the Health Department, and got the full screening. I was given an injection (unknown), 1g of Zithromax pills, and 2g of Metronidazole pills. The results have not come back yet. When I got home I obtained the results of my previous test from the lab and they were negative for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.
Avatar m tn Due to my location it is hard to get medication I can however get both ciprofloxacillin and metronidazole would either of these be of benefit.
