My little dog Chester has been on Vetmedin for over a year for a heart condition and has been doing great. He had diarrhea and vomiting this morning (must have eaten something he shouldn't, he's a sneaky pup). He's done with that, but is extremely lethargic. Drinking water, but won't eat. Doctor gave me Metronidazole 2 years ago for a tummy bout. Does anyone know if there are any contraindications between those 2 meds?
How do I know if metronidazole is working in treating my amebiasis? I have been taking this drug for 4 days now but I still feel like vomiting and pain in my diaphragm.And I feel extremely bloated.
We have eight Chihuahuas and a Pug. All nine have had stubborn issues with vomiting food for the past few months.
Age range 1-3. Weight range 3.5-12 lbs. None are related. They have a fenced in yard (country), cages in the kitchen. They have no exposure to other dogs.
Six months ago Lucy began vomiting her food several hours after eating. A few gags, up would come undigested food. Then George did the same. Lucy stopped but then the next day Gracie started, etc.
(been taking sleeping pills for last 38 yrs, also anti psychotics) on 21st, i took metronidazole 400 X 3 times, little less pain. today, i had 6 motions and i took metro'ole 400 x 2 times, i don't feel like taking anymore of it. i had lot of yogurt. 2 hrs after taking by psy medication i feel ravenous and eat a lot of food (Sugars)every night. i am prediabetic nearing diabetic condition& my tsh is 22. i also have, acidity & fissure for long time. pls

She acted like a normal puppy for the first couple of days but then she stopped eating, was vomiting, had diarreah and lost weight very fast.She was also very depressed and lethargic. We took her to the vet and they diagnosed her with kennel cough and giardia. We gave her the medicine and tried giving her some pedialite because she still wouldn't eat. We took her back to the vet the next day because she was so dehydrated and skinny. they had her on an iv for four and a half days.
Two weeks earlier it was continuously vomiting, and i found some worms in it. Our local doctors said it just stomach problem and they gave B Complex,Liver Extract With Vitamin B12 Injection and Betnesol injection for two days.Today it was given an anti biotic and ranitidine as it was thought to have gastric problem. Please help me soon, he is very sick..
Also, did you drink when you took the metronidazole? Drinking while taking this medication can cause vomiting and sickness.
I'm a little bit curious why you are asking about dosage and what to take next. Is a doctor prescribing your meds?
I was admitted to the emergency dept with high temp, WCC 19,000, severe generalised abdo pain, vomiting and explosive, offensive diarrhoea. I was commenced on gentamycin and cefuroxime in hosp and deteriorated to critical stage. I was being treated for diverticulitis only (not c diff). 4 days post admission it was found I had c diff and eventually discharged home on metronidazole.
I have had symptoms of abdominal pain (dull in lower center and right) with nausea, vomiting, lethargy, chest tightness, left shoulder heated radiating pain, headaches, frequent urination. I was diagnosed with H pylori and have been on triple antibiotics- Amoxicillan, omeprazole, metronidazole. I am also on Sucralfate for acid control, promethazine for vomit control and Hydrocodone for pain control. Does this really sound like H.
So it all started last October when she started having really bad diarrhea ( I mean real bad exploding horrible diarrhea) and then vomiting started a few days later. I brought her to the vet and we came to the conclusion it was a raw hide she found under the couch and ate almost the whole thing and it must have upset her stomach. She didn't eat for 2 days. at first i didnt bother it but after my medication in soar throat and allergy(urcatitaria), my vagina started to became itchy and again, everyday i started having green discharged for `1 week. i went to a gynecologist and she prescribed me a metronidazole miconazole vaginal suppository and ive used that for `1 week.. now what my problem is, my white discharge had stop.. i am also currently taking up medice for my UTI and had experiexed sex but that was like long time ago...
For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily).

My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night?
I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet.
Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
My heart beat is erratic most of the time anyway but when I tried taking flagyl for campylobacter, it didn't affect my heart at all. I just got extremely sick and intestinal issues worsened. They had to switch me.
Anyways about 2 1/2 weeks ago I was on Metronidazole and had unprotected sex on the 5th day, the nurse told me to use condoms for 8 days. I also missed my last “active white pill” (before 2 Placebo pills) Friday 3/9, had unprotected sex and didn’t realize till Monday. I took my Wednesday pill 3/14 about 17 hours late. Is it possible I can become pregnant?
Then afternoon, Max is caught heaving and vomiting again in 3 different areas. I used a syringe to give him some water, and he held that down for at least an hour. Then he vomits again. And just a few minutes ago, once more, but a quarter size, and it's yellow bile. I don't know what to do, because he was a very healthy cat and eater. I call the humane society, and they say this isn't related to the neuter, but to bring him in tomorrow, if still vomiting.
I believe they use Metronidazole to treat this, and it can cause similar symptoms to pregnancy. (Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, headaches, flushing, mood changes, etc) Depending on when you last used the medicine though, it might be out of your system. If the symptoms you have are due to pregnancy then a test should be accurate. Use a good test, such as first response and test with first morning urine. Good luck.
So I was just told yesterday (friday) I have Bacterial Vagonosis and was given 14 metronidazole 500mg. Im suppose to take 1 tablet twice daily so yesterday I took two, however my doctor said since its long weekend and drinking is most likely going to happen I would suggest to start the pills on Monday because you cant drink while taking it due to sickness. I totally regret taking it now and wish I waited until the long weekend was over because tonight I want to drink.
