Avatar n tn For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
Avatar f tn Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet. Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.
Avatar m tn My heart beat is erratic most of the time anyway but when I tried taking flagyl for campylobacter, it didn't affect my heart at all. I just got extremely sick and intestinal issues worsened. They had to switch me.
Avatar f tn Also after i have finished the metronidazole pills does that mean the (BV) odor has gone away?
Avatar f tn Similar to what happens in many other biofilm-related infections, standard antibiotics, like metronidazole, are unable to fully eradicate the vaginal biofilm, which can explain the high recurrence rates of BV. Furthermore, antibiotic therapy can also cause a negative impact on the healthy vaginal microflora. These issues sparked the interest in developing alternative therapeutic strategies.
Avatar n tn My doctor prescribed me metronidazole because of my yeast infection but I'm really "iffy" about taking it because I don't want to harm my baby. Have any of u guys taken metronidazole while pregnant ?
Avatar m tn The dose for a large lab would be 500 to 750mg twice per day tor 7 days (Do not overdose). If you have not given the correct dose or metronidazole than another course of metronidazole may help. There could be gastrointestinal parasites not covered by the metronidazole, of course, and it would be best to have your dog's stool checked.
Avatar f tn I started taking metronidazole and a probiotic supplement called enterogermina. After the first dose of both metronidazole and enterogermina I started having urgency to pee. I feel like I have to pee frequently. My urine does not have a strong odour and it is not cloudy and has a normal light straw colour. I was wondering if urgency to urinate may be a symptom of bacterial vaginosis or if it may be a side effect of metronidazole or enterogermina?
Avatar f tn I’ve been on my second day of Metronidazole and I drank a little bit of wine today. The concentration is 10 percent and I had it mixed with juice, should that be enough to cause any side effects?
Avatar f tn I have taken the metronidazole for 2weeks and I notice it works but after 3 to 4 days I stop taking it since I notice it was cleared ..now It came back again and I now starting to take again a metronidazole.. please help what must I do?
Avatar m tn t eat. Doctor gave me Metronidazole 2 years ago for a tummy bout. Does anyone know if there are any contraindications between those 2 meds?
Avatar f tn I'm taking antibiotics, including Metronidazole 500mg for h.pylori. I was at my sister's wedding last night and took 2 glasses of bubbly to toast with the guests, and then switched to water all night (being under the impression that antibiotics just worsen the impact of the alcohol so this is why you shouldn't drink). About 6-7 hours later I started feeling really unwell (nausea, frequent washroom trips, flushed skin)..

Avatar f tn ve been told by my GI doctor that my peripherial neurapathy is partially caused by the over-use of the metronidazole a antibiotic. I also have low levels of vitamin b1. my question is on the antibiotic metronidazole, Can this cause to my peripherial neurapathy be "corrected" after the toxin has finally left my body? or will this be permantent and get "worse" with time? what can I do to stave off the progression if so?
Avatar m tn I just finish my 5-day course of Metronidazole 500mg 3x a day. Is this a common side effect, or is this something that I need to worry about?
Avatar f tn I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV? Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!
