How soon after using metronidazole vaginal gel (0.75%) for bacterial vaginosis can you consume alcoholic beverages? On the box it says do not drink alcoholic beverages when taking this medicine. I only used it twice, and experienced bad side effects so I do not plan on using it anymore. Today (April 22), was the last time I used it. Will I be able to drink alcohol on Saturday, April 25? Thank you.

I have been prescribed 100mg Doxycyline and Metronidazole 0.75% gel for a vaginal infection. I was told not a STD, but a infection. What kind of infection. The only symptom was white discharge. No burning, swelling, odor that I noticed, etc.
I coated the rash on my hands with calamine lotion and it slowly went away. Weather it was totally due to the calamine lotion or the other meds I'm not sure. The meds taken were:
Cephalexin (Keflex) 500mg, 1 tab for 4 days; Cetirizine (Zyrtec) 10mg, 1 tab a day for one month; Fluconazole (Diflucan) 100mg, 1 tab immediately;. The Predinisone (Deltasone) 20mg was not needed. The lotion Ammonium Lactae (Amlaction) was tried but wasn't really needed.

My OB/GYN did a swab in May that confirmed the BV. I have recently begun Metronidazole Gel 0.75%, qd x 5. I have been reading a lot of forums, and from what it looks like, none of these treatments are very effective. I am starting to really worry that this is going to plague me for the rest of my life. I have asked these questions, but no one can seem to give me a straight answer. I have never had an STD before, although I had a shaky past, and have had a lot of sexual partners in my life.

I am now going bacitracin + neomycin and I buy a metronidazole ... I certainly do not get into sex and got after using a simulated oral sex that I was not very clean ...

Oral antibiotics can really get rid of the symptoms. Also there are topical meds (metronidazole cream and Klaron, a thin lotion) which help somewhat I guess but are not as effective.
The first time they put me on a clindamycin solution that dried it out even more, but made some of the initial bumps and inflammation go down. The second time, they gave me metronidazole, which semi-worked for a little while, but we were seeing very little improvement. The third time they put me on oral antibiotics as well as giving me clindamycin in a lotion form.
I'm out of the antibiotics and I'm using the clindamycin lotion twice daily, but progress has sort of plateaued.

It has been present for a couple of months now. It has now been 13 days on the Doxycycline (of a 30 day cycle total ) and 4 days applying the Metronidazole 0.75% gel only at night, once a day. Thankfully, there has been much improvement since then. So far, no more flareups, hardly any itching only when my skin gets too dry, and during the day when I don't use the Metrogel, my skin is not as red anymore (more pink or normal in color) or bumpy. I just have one more question though.
If the +0.75 contact lens does not improve the vision, then it is unlikely that LASIK will help. Something else is going on if the proper correction does not sharpen your vision. at first i didnt bother it but after my medication in soar throat and allergy(urcatitaria), my vagina started to became itchy and again, everyday i started having green discharged for `1 week. i went to a gynecologist and she prescribed me a metronidazole miconazole vaginal suppository and ive used that for `1 week.. now what my problem is, my white discharge had stop.. i am also currently taking up medice for my UTI and had experiexed sex but that was like long time ago...

I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet.
Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
