Avatar n tn But towards the beginning of 2012 I went back to see my doctor complaining that I am still suffering from usual symptoms like breathe oddur (white/yellow coatings on the tonsils), difficulties in swallowing, feeling feverish sometimes, difficulties in breathing properly and inflamed nose, ringing in the ears etc I told him I was suffering from.
Avatar f tn ve had so many throat problems ( bouts of tonsillitis/ strep throat) in the past few years, that the pharmacists know me by first name now. Anyway, maybe ask your doctor about what's going with your tongue, and ask about antibiotics for your tongue issues, but if there's not any infection going on, they probably won't prescribe antibiotics. Some people believe that discoloration of the tongue, is a sign of stomach or digestive problems. If you find out what the cause is, let us know!
Avatar m tn Symptoms of tonsillitis include sore throat and fever. While viral tonsillitis must resolve on its own, tonsillitis caused by bacteria is treatable with antibiotics, which usually resolves symptoms in two to three days. It is also contagious so best thing is to see your doctor or at least the pharmacist.
187316 tn?1386356682 Macrobid I was told wasn't good in the first trimester. Though I'm not sure how any of them could really be considered "good". Metronidazole pretty much kills all negative cells in your body. It's so harsh that it kills the good and bad bacteria in your whoha. I'm just so concerned that it will have messed something up. I still can't even get over the fact I'm pregnant.
Avatar m tn I see, well the pain I'm feeling now went away with my tonsillitis. It lasted about 4-5 days. It's quite baffling that they both came in and out exactly the time. I wish you well in your colonoscopy. Thanks again and best of health to all of us!

Avatar f tn Are you sure that it is a pimple? It could be tonsillitis? I had a bad case of tonsillitis for years and years, the worst my doc had ever seen, and it was like ***sorry for gross explanation*** chunks of infection coming out of my tonsils.
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.
Avatar n tn perhaps i can go to my doctor after 2 to 3 mos because still dont have a job right now/.. in case you didnt know, i live in the philippines.. here, people are always having a hard time looking for a job.. anyway ill keep you posted.. i still have a yellow discharge and i do frequent urination esp during the night.. can i ask u what fruits and veggies do i have to eat to lessen or to prevent this sickness from being severe.. thank u so much doctor..
Avatar f tn Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet. Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
Avatar n tn i had history of recurrent tonsillitis in past 3 years but every time was not sever and returned back to normal after taking antibiotic . On exam.
Avatar n tn About a week ago I found I was having difficulty swallowing, as I knew it would take a while before I could get in to see my regular doctor I went to a walk in clinic. The doctor there looked at my tonsils and told me I had tonsillitis (he also did a throat swab). He said he could see little while bumps on my tonsils and prescribed anti biotics.
Avatar n tn Why a tonsillectomy in a child is less likely to involve complications than the same procedure for an adult?
Avatar n tn For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
Avatar f tn I was prescribed it last week for a bacterial infection. Took it 4 times and my face started to break out in a rash. Called the pharmacist and then the doctor. Both said i was having an allergic reaction to the medicine. Both said to stop taking it. I go to the doctor next week to ddiscuss other options. So just watch out for that.....
Avatar f tn Tonsillectomy is advised if there is recurrent streptococcal tonsillitis, recurrent peritonsillar abscess and chronic tonsillitis. Recurrent tonsillitis is an indication for tonsillectomy, as the tonsils may harbor the infection which keeps flaring up, or they may develop new infections. Also, sometimes persistent enlargement of the tonsil can sometimes be due to a lymphoma. So, if it is not responding to max, medical treatment, then tonsillectomy is the option.
Avatar n tn I still was not feeling well, so went to the dr. again on Saturday and she said I was really congested and had tonsillitis and gave me Omnicef. Today is Wedensday and I am really not feeling that much better and still have the white patch on my tonsil. Shouldn't I be feeling better by now?
Avatar f tn Went to the dr in late November for strep throat and a sinus infection, tested negative for strep but I have cobblestone throat and my left tonsil is inflamed. My doctor said I have some pus behind It & I have a small hole on my tonsil as well. My throat does not hurt and I no longer have any symptoms. I have taken both azthromycin and doxycycline. My throat still looks the same. My doctor has said just to keep an eye on it. Should I just go ahead and go to an ENT?
1444860 tn?1284421541 I suffer tonsillitis all my life, I have not taken out my tonsils out, but for 2 weeks straight now I have not being able to swallow properly. My tonsils are swollen which came with a flu too. Please I know I have to go to the doctor to get an antibiotics, but my appointment is not until the 20th of September. I don't remember what type and name of the antibiotics doctors use for tonsillitis besides Penicillin. What can I take in the mean time?
Avatar f tn So a few days ago my one tonsil got big and had white streaks of pus on it I looked those sytoms up and it sounded like strep yesterday it felt and looked like it went away but today I looked in my throat because it felt like something was touching and there's a pointed piece of flesh around my tonsil area... any idea of what this is???
Avatar f tn It sounds more like a yeast infection than tonsillitis, at least in your lower parts. And you could have oral thrush and be confusing it with tonsillitis. Go see your doctor and get checked for tonsillitis, and if you have tonsillitis (and if it is the bacterial kind and not the viral kind) when he or she gives you a prescription that will probably take care of both ends.
