7205189 tn?1447794738 This caused diarrhea and vomiting which the vet then prescribed metronidazole for. Immediately she began pooping twice a day with meals and it was normal. When the medication ended she went a few days normal, then slowly started increasing frequency of pooping and then started having diarrhea again. The vet immediately prescribed the Metronidazole again, this time just half a pill for a dose. She went back to normal immediately.
Avatar f tn She is about 12 weeks old. They had her spayed anyway..even we thought it was to early. She acted like a normal puppy for the first couple of days but then she stopped eating, was vomiting, had diarreah and lost weight very fast. She was also very depressed and lethargic. We took her to the vet and they diagnosed her with kennel cough and giardia. We gave her the medicine and tried giving her some pedialite because she still wouldn't eat.
Avatar m tn She had parasites a few weeks ago. Was given medication to get rid of them. Also metronidazole for the diarrhea. It hasn't helped. She then started having seizures a week ago. Now on phenobarbital. Controlling the seizures. Still has Diarrhea. Vet prescribed metronidazole again. She is now shaking and not feeling well and still has diarrhea. She only weighs 2 lbs or so. She doesn't like Pumpkin. Tried that for the diarrhea. Taking her off the Metronidazole.
Avatar m tn Hi, I just wanted to ask for any input on my dog's current tummy trouble. I have no access to another vet in our area and I would really appreciate a second opinion :) Anyway, one of my dogs had a few episodes of intermittent vomiting and diarrhea for the past 5 days - her stool was jelly like and one had traces of blood, and her vomit is usually gloopy and yellowish and at one time, had a tinge of pink / red specks in it, and recently it appeared foamy.
Avatar f tn I recently rescued a puppy who is a survivor of parvo, he is the only one out of 5 of his siblings that survived. He is currently 5 months old and 9.7 lbs, yorkie poodle mix, and has been diagnosed with giardia about 3 weeks ago. They prescribed him a round of panacur, followed by a round of flagyl, both of which he completed. They also insisted on feeding him Hills I/D prescription diet (sensitive) Rice & Egg formula. None of this seems to be working.
Avatar f tn May 29 2015 we went for a full blood test as Louie ( my dog) was due for a dental. Blood test came back Saturday that he was perfect. He also had a blood panel taken so he can take his heart worm. This tested also tested for Lime disease which he did not have. That Saturday night he began acting weird. Very tired, I blamed it on the vet appointment stressing him out. He had diarrhea once but it had no mucus or blood. It was also not liquid.
Avatar f tn I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV? Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!
Avatar n tn My 14 yo pit bull has been on maximum doses of first rimadyl and currently metacam for severe OA and RA, so she is monitored for liver issues. She has taken clavamox for other infections during this time and has never had a problem. Can you tell us where you heard or saw this info?
Avatar f tn New puppies should get their first set of shots at 6weeks of age, not before. Then every 3-4 weeks the puppy should get booster shots, not less than three weeks as it may lead to immune system reactions. The immune system matures and maternal antibodies fall off around 12 weeks of age, so the puppy must have a series of two vaccines 3-4 weeks apart at or after 12 weeks of age. For most puppies I recommend vaccines at 6, 9, 12, and 16 weeks of age.
Avatar f tn my youngest son who is 2 is a bit hesitant, everytime the puppy comes near him he yells OW even when the puppy doesnt do anything. He wasnt present when the dog attack happened, and Im wondering if he somehow heard the conflict or knows about it. Do you guys think my baby will ever come to trust this puppy? I hate to get rid of him as DH and my oldest son are already severely attached, so attached that he slept with my oldest son latnight instead of a crate. Uhg....

Avatar f tn I took metronidazole gel at about 20 weeks for bv and baby is fine now at about 28 weeks
Avatar f tn Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet. Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
Avatar m tn My heart beat is erratic most of the time anyway but when I tried taking flagyl for campylobacter, it didn't affect my heart at all. I just got extremely sick and intestinal issues worsened. They had to switch me.
Avatar n tn For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.
Avatar f tn I had to take it last week for 5 days. Everything is great with baby. It does say that there is no harm to take it however I understand your concern. I'm 27w 5d I'm sure I would've been me hesitant at 6 weeks.
1678412 tn?1304570878 I have a month and a half old rottweiler puppy, he's been having diarrhea ( stringy brown mucous stools) which started later this morning. My mom asked her friend about what meds to give to the pup and her friende told her to give the pup "cotrimoxazole" is it safe for the puppy? ...I gave the pup this med awhile ago, should I panic if the diarrhea doesn't stop?
Avatar f tn s puppy was hit and killed Christmas night in front of her and she held this puppy while it passed on. Needless to say, she is so stricken with grief. I have talked and talked to her and I am concerned for her. I know that during these times we get stressed to use and she needs everyone's suport and love on this forum as she is best known here, not the social side. I am sure many can relate to this heartache however due to nature of the death, she is blaming herself.
Avatar n tn Hi guys,i seen some peoples on this forum that got rid off patm with Flagyl(Metronidazole), have you tried this? Would be nice to hear some oppinions about it from peoples who actually used it.
1391531 tn?1289164143 No puppies for the holiday, around this time a year people like to buy and give a new cute puppy for their friends ,children, and significant other as a gift and 3-6 months later shelter and rescue are flood with puppies, why the most common reasons for surrender of the these puppies are he/she not housebroken,he/she brakes to much, he/she tears everything up, he/she bites, he/she does play well with other ,he/she is too expensive and we cannot handle him any more.
