Avatar f tn Hi,its unlikely to be IBS, as the primary symptoms with IBS is abdominal pain. Low grade gastrointestinal infections can cause the symptoms described by you. Have a stool culture done, if the stool culture showed a growth it is an infective pathology otherwise non infective pathologies like inflammatory bowel diseases or growths have to be considered. Amoebiasis is another infection, which can cause similar symptoms.
7205189 tn?1447794738 This caused diarrhea and vomiting which the vet then prescribed metronidazole for. Immediately she began pooping twice a day with meals and it was normal. When the medication ended she went a few days normal, then slowly started increasing frequency of pooping and then started having diarrhea again. The vet immediately prescribed the Metronidazole again, this time just half a pill for a dose. She went back to normal immediately.
Avatar f tn For the last 3 weeks, I've been having severe burning in my lower abdomen and it goes up my esophagus. Everything I eat or drink it burns 5 minutes after. I've been on PPI for years. Could I have IBS?
Avatar f tn I had a Colonoscopy on Feb 7, 2013. To date I have IBS since this procedure. Is there anything I can do to regulate myself. I have lost 25 lbs since Feb which is good but not by choice. After I eat I'll have bowel movements 4 to 5 within an hour. I'm no longer eating while I'm at work. Please help.
Avatar f tn I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV? Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!

Avatar f tn s probably dead immune system aide with some mix of different microbes for 90% of the time; 10% of the time it might be liquid from reproductive-brain-link system mix with microbes. Rarely, it might be salt-liquid-mercury mixed with irritable radioactive digestive liquid. Purify one with herbs such as the non-poisonous dandelions or check with UV microbe indication for a more detailed report.
Avatar f tn Just remembered, If you want to plan kids soon, ask your doctor at which point after the treatment it will be possible, as I know that metronidazole is contraindicated for administration during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Avatar m tn When I consume antibiotics (like levooflaxin, ofloxacin), antiamoebics (ornidazole, metronidazole), I remain fine for the time period I consume the medicines. After end of treatment, Issues re-appear again. This is now happening very frequently (once every 2 weeks). I do not smoke, drink or use any other obnoxious drug.

Avatar f tn Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet. Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
Avatar m tn My heart beat is erratic most of the time anyway but when I tried taking flagyl for campylobacter, it didn't affect my heart at all. I just got extremely sick and intestinal issues worsened. They had to switch me.
Avatar n tn For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.
Avatar f tn I had to take it last week for 5 days. Everything is great with baby. It does say that there is no harm to take it however I understand your concern. I'm 27w 5d I'm sure I would've been me hesitant at 6 weeks.
