Avatar n tn My dog was throwing up (looked like human food- I hve no idea where he got it from) and having diarrhea. The vet gave him amforol among penicillin and steroid injection. We took x-rays and the vet said he had imflammatory bowel disease. Since then he's stopped vomitting but still having diarrhea. Now he's on metronidazole. I've read around that metro will help only temporary and that it could cause liver damage. Has anyone had this problem and will metronidazole fix his problem?
Avatar f tn Last Friday I went in for a sigmoidoscopy and the doctor found inflammation in my rectum and sigmoid colon and small patches of ulceration. My bowel movements are normal and have no blood just a bit of mucus. They have been like this for over 3 weeks since the original episode. The doctor has taken biopsys and seems to think it's definitely ulcerative colitis.
Avatar n tn Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD is typically something that a cat will have for the rest of its life. It can be variable as to how effectively we can control it and how well your cat will do. You can not diagnose IBD with an ultrasound. The ultrasound can look like IBD but the only true diagnosis is by obtaining biopsies with endoscopy or exploratory surgery. Even a diagnosis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease does not let you know if there is an underlying cause.
Avatar f tn t heard any feedback about that yet but I know of 2 dogs so far that were suffering with terrible bouts of gastroenteritis and colitis and they have been using this product and the diarrhea has stopped. They continue to use all their other IBD meds for the time being in addition to this powder. Just passing the info along. I have an IBD dog myself and plan to try it when the next flare up occurs.
Avatar f tn I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV? Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I was told i had IBD about a year ago. I noticed that every time I drink, my right side and my right lower back throbs very very bad. Is drinking a bad idea when you have this? I dont drink often, maybe twice a month. It doesnt only hurt when i drink it hurts most all the time but worse when i drink. Could the pain be my colon?
Avatar f tn IBD is an umbrella name for Uc and Crohns. IBD stands for Inflammatory Bowel Disease. This doctor is probably stating you have and IBD because he may not know 100% which one you have.
Avatar f tn Many patients benefit from NSAIDs, but this may be a risky option for IBD patients. Treating the IBD usually has no effect on this type of arthritis.
Avatar f tn Recurrent explosive diarrhea (once a month for 2 years) often right after eating fatty foods? (Also low b12?) 25 male. Roughly two years ago I started having recurring diarrhea. Typically once or twice a month I would have a total blowout which was always almost totally corrected the next movement. I would get terrible cramping and rushing water noises from my abdomen. However this pain went away the moment a movement was finished. My doctor did a sample for parasites etc, Clear.
Avatar n tn at first i didnt bother it but after my medication in soar throat and allergy(urcatitaria), my vagina started to became itchy and again, everyday i started having green discharged for `1 week. i went to a gynecologist and she prescribed me a metronidazole miconazole vaginal suppository and ive used that for `1 week.. now what my problem is, my white discharge had stop.. i am also currently taking up medice for my UTI and had experiexed sex but that was like long time ago...
Avatar f tn I took metronidazole gel at about 20 weeks for bv and baby is fine now at about 28 weeks
Avatar f tn Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet. Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
Avatar m tn My heart beat is erratic most of the time anyway but when I tried taking flagyl for campylobacter, it didn't affect my heart at all. I just got extremely sick and intestinal issues worsened. They had to switch me.
Avatar n tn For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.
Avatar f tn I had to take it last week for 5 days. Everything is great with baby. It does say that there is no harm to take it however I understand your concern. I'm 27w 5d I'm sure I would've been me hesitant at 6 weeks.
Avatar n tn ll have it all his life...he has been given Mitronitizole for it, as well as Metacam for pain, but I want something that can be given that will keep this thing under control..I hate seeing Shad have a bad day with pain when he poos, and such...Is there something better than this course of action? Something that can keep the inflammation and pain under management, so he can have the best possible quality of life??? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Hi guys,i seen some peoples on this forum that got rid off patm with Flagyl(Metronidazole), have you tried this? Would be nice to hear some oppinions about it from peoples who actually used it.
1360461 tn?1277552985 Thanks for the welcome and for taking the time to help! Is there a recommended specific human brand that someone had good results with on a feline? A couple of human probiotics I've shopped do have Azodyl's strains, but also additional strains. I haven't found one that isolates only those. I wonder if somene has insight into whether some human strains are NOT friendly to cats.
