Avatar f tn Hi, i found the below from a discussion a while back and maybe can shed some light on your question. I believe the replier had the same problems. LuvMedicine Nov 26, 2009 To: shaken71 Yes, new research confirmed that bacterial vaginosis can give false positives for low-risk women who are tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia by NAAT (the urine test).
Avatar n tn The problem with blood tests for chlamydia is that they don't tell you exactly which chlamydia bacteria you are positive for, and there is more than one. One causes pneumonia, for example. I can't advise you to treat or not, but perhaps your wife should be tested. This might be a good question for the doctor's forum, if you feel like paying $15 USD.
Avatar m tn When you failed treatment, did you have a positive test for chlamydia and how long following treatment was it? Studies have shown that the debris from dead chlamydia can remain present for up to 3 weeks, causing falsely positive tests. I ask to try to determine if you clearly failed treatment or whether something else might be going on. 2. Having taken both azithromycin and doxycycline, there are no STDs that ciprofloxacin would be reliably expected to take care of.
Avatar m tn In the US, I was treated witn Metronidazole 500 mg 2 x day for 7 days (I did not have any tests done), which supposedly is the drug for trichomoniasis, and that this drug did not do anytning to improve the condition; the symptoms are still present. The only difference in symptoms I am observing is sometimes clear discharge, more ofthen though, yellow, thick discharge, which is most observable in the morning, before the urination. Also, there is no odor of any kind.
Avatar m tn So 10 days ago I cam back from Mexico on vacation two days later I started to have dysuria (painful urination). I went in to my PCP and he checked for all STD's and gave me Cipro. After 5 days it wasn't helping and the tests gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, HIV and others were all negative. I came back in and was tested Trichomoniasis gonorrhea, and chlamydia while being prescribed metronidazole and azithromycin as prophylactic.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with BV, I was given metronidazole for a week. I looked inside my vagina and it’s still white. Tomorrow is day 3 of the treatment. The discharge is not transferring to my underwear, however I’m just so afraid I can have chlamydia. I’m wondering how Can I tell, or how does Chlamydia discharge look. I have milky white inside and the odor is gone now. Does chlamydia discharge look a different color?
Avatar m tn and she said it was an infection that got into her kidneys. They gave her metronidazole which is used for trich but not kidney infections that I know of. Is there a reason they would prescribe this medication for an infection of the kidneys or am I wrong for being suspicious. We don't have sex for months and she is always out and coming home late.
Avatar f tn Tested positive for Chlamydia and Bacterial Vaginosis. Doctor immediately put me on Metronidazole and single dose of Azithromycin. Before I started the treatments, there was white discharge and fishy odor but no urge to constantly pee even after I had just emptied my bladder. After treatments, the discharge and odor has gone away but I now have a constant urge to pee and when I go to pee it’s very little and there is very slight burning.
Avatar n tn I have had tests for Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea -which came back negative. I have no signs of herpes and was tested for that as well. My only symptom I've had is a mild discomfort at the tip of my penis. Buring during urination is very slight, not much to speak of. I recently masturbated just to see if there would be any pain - there wasn't. However, when I ejaculated, it first came out as very watery, followed by thicker semen that was yellowish in color.
Avatar f tn In addition, treatment for PID always must include a drug against chlamydia, even if chlamydia testing is negative. Neither the shots nor the metronidazole is active against chlamydia, so this also suggests you're not getting all the treatment you need. This is another thing to discuss with your doctors. Don't be shy about asking these questions!
Avatar m tn I've been feeling/having penile dishcarge for almost 3 months after sex with woman I didn't know well. I have a history of prostititis which has flared up after sex before. tested negative for chlamydia and gonnerhea. Haven't tested for herpes but don't have any signs of that. Urologist thinks it's prostitis and I've been on 3 different medications last few months (Cipro, Doxy, bactrim) with no success.
Avatar f tn Hi only testing would confirm an std.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with ngu took the medicine and mygirgirlfriend took the meds also. We waited over a week like the Dr said to have sex. Well again the pain and discharge are back so I went to see the Dr again. He gave me a shot and more meds for me and my girlfriend. We have been using protection condoms after that and waited 10 days before having sex. Now the pain and discharge is back again. She went to the clinic and came up negative for ngu but came up positive for bacterial vaginosis.
Avatar m tn I've had frequent urination and some slight discomfort after an unprotected sexual encounter, but have tested negative for Chlamydia, Gonnorhea, Syphilis, HIV, Herpes, Hepatitis. I haven't experienced any discharge but did notice a slightly darker/pink patch of skin less than 1cm in diameter on my inner thigh recently.
Avatar f tn I also had a question for you. How long will you be taking the Metronidazole and what tests did your doctor run in diagnosing you with BV? The reason I ask is because I have symptoms very similar to BV however every Dr. I go to suggest that I don't have it.
Avatar m tn Well some discharge will come out if you squeeze your penis... if you're having discharge on its own and your neg. for chlamydia and gono try testing for Trick and NGU... if you only had unprotected oral then you weren't at risk for chlamydia but you were at risk for gono which you are neg for and trick and NGU. .
Avatar m tn Now that I have started metronidazole should I just stop on the 4th day, and wait for the new doxycycline plus metronidazole regime? That is, will taking another 3 days of it without the doxycycline make me build up a resistance to it or should I stay the course and see if another 3 days helps. I'm concerned about the testing I'm receiving (and confusing results) and it perhaps has alot to do with communicating with non-native English speakers( us not understanding each other).
Avatar m tn I recently came back postive for chlamydia and the took antibiotics to clear it up and even to Flagyl for possible trichomanos. I got retested for for chlamydia and gonorreah and came back negative for both and havent had sex since, but the penile discharge continues. What could this be and what are the next stepst I should take to get rid of this? Is this permanent?
Avatar n tn Hi Some months ago I started having yellow discharge, itching and redness in my vulva. It took some time to discover that it was BV. I was tested for gonorrhea and it was negative. However, i guessed i wasn't tested for chlamydia but my doctor prescribed me doxycicline for 8 days, twice a day, and my boyfriend took it too. So, I guess I can conclude I don't have any of those now. I got better but I never felt really good.
Avatar n tn I have been on multiple courses of antibiotics, starting with the standard azithromycin single dose, then double dose, doxycyline for 7 days, doxycycline for 7 days plus metronidazole for 5 days, doxycycline for 7 days plus something else for 5 days, and finally erythromycin at 500mg 4 times a day for 21 days. I've just finished the erythromycin and the symptoms (clear discharge and slight burning/tingling) have come back.
Avatar f tn I was seen by several different doctors and was tested for pretty much everything. (Chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpies, syphylis 4 times tested with a negative result). Then I started reading up on internet about trichomoniasis and my symptoms were almost identical as to those described. Went to a doctor one more time and told him I wanted to be tested for this as well. He did a culture test which came back negative.
Avatar n tn The treatment you have had has included treatment effective for both chlamydia and for NGU three times- the azithromycin, the doxycycline and the ofloxacin are all effective for both problems. The recommended therapy for persistent NGU also includes a single 2.0 gram dose of metronidazole (Flagyl) as wee however because some persistent NGU is due to trichamonas. Alternatively, sometimes the symptoms of NGU can take a few days (up to a week to resolve following effective therapy.
