I've been using metrogel for a few months now for a place on my cheek. It's finally clearing up, but my entire face was scratched up today, including the area I typically treat with metrogel. Is the metrogel safe to use on fresh scratches and sores to continue treatment. If so, would it be good to also put the metrogel on my entire face to help with all the scratch marks?
My doctor perscribed me Metrogel 0.75. I have been using it since Jan 18th 2010 (last month). For the most part I have been clear, however I still see some LIGHT red areas like they are fading away. Have I not used it long enough? BUT, I cleaned the house yesterday, and now today I have a larger red area in the corner of my eye..probably from sweating? My doctor reccommended I take Doxycycline 100mg, accept I took two pills and had total stomach pain -with or without food!
My question is.
You mentioned that your clotting time was normal, that is a good sign because normally PV is the result of the thick blood that occurs with PV. This thickness slows the flow of oxygen-rich blood to all parts of your body. Without enough oxygen, many parts of your body won't work normally.
If you don't have any of the abnormal symptoms and the doctor isn't concerned, then try not to worry, however, if it continues to upset you, then maybe get a second opinion.
My brother did not have the gene mutation that at least 80% of the people have with PV. They found it with a bone biopsy. In my case, my doctors knew he was PV positive tested me for the gene mutation after a series of abnormal blood chemitry tests. I came out positive.
How, in one family did we both come out positive but one had the JAK2 gene mutation and one of us did not?
The NP precribed metrogel for 5 days at bedtime. I havent found the courage to take it yet, because its inserted vaginally. The warning states its a category B and can be passed through the placenta. Has anyone else taken metrogel during their pregnancy? If so wad everything ok?

I was tested positive for HIV this February. I have been an occasional user of MDMA via syringe. I tested negative for Hepatitis B and C. During the first week of June, I suddenly came down with a fever which wouldn't go away. Later the doctors found a lesion on my liver, for which I was treated with Metronidazole (Metrogel) injections, and later metrogel tablets. Recent CT scan shows "a cystic lesion on the liver, measuring 4x3.5 cms with a smooth enhancing wall seen in segment IV.
My boyfriend has taken hepa b screening test (hbsag) last June 2010 and is REACTIVE. Please interpret his result (CV = 0.105 ; PV = 2.1) we would like to know if his hepa b is acute or chronic. His doctor prescribed 'Essetiale Forte' to be taken in 6months period. Would this medicine cure him?
Just to be sure about my health, I also took hepa b screening test (hbsag) this August and Im REACTIVE. I was also advised to take Anti-HBs test to check if I'm immune to the hepa b virus.

I was just diagnosed with Polycynthmia Vera. Mine is due to high red blood cells but it is also possible to have it with high white blood cells. It causes extreme fatigue, weakness & a lot of ur other symptoms. U may want to read up on it. It is rare & my hematologist told me they don't check for it regularly. Basically u have to have something major happen. I went into liver failure & they traced it back to PV.

-spleen: is remarkedly enlaraged measuring 21cm in diameter, no focal lesions, shows normal echogenicity.
-kidney: both are normal site, size and shape w/ good cortico medullary differentiation, no cyst, no focal lesion or back preasure changes could be detected.
-Pancreas & Paraaortic area: masked by gases, mild ascites and peripslenic collection seen.
When I get out of the shower or overheated, I have a pink spot on the skin just above my upper lip, touching the lip line. It's approx. 2 cm long by 1/4th cm high. There's also a tingling sensation at times.
The skin there looks slightly different but I'm 62 and have had age spots burned off in my hairline, etc. I am female, never smoked, don't drink and have never had a cold sore or tested positive for HPV. I do not sunbathe but grew up in the south.

The more experienced and skilled EPs prefer RF because the catheter is more flexible in terms of focal ablation if problematic triggering points are found outside of the pulmonary veins. Whereas cryo is limited to PV isolation. For paroxysmal, many can be cured by PV isolation. It would be best if the EP is skilled (experience plus high volume) in RF even if he decides to use cryo initially. If the AF has persisted for a while, RF is without doubt the better choice.
