Common Questions and Answers about Metrogel moisturizer

metrogel

Avatar f tn I went to dermatologist who told me I have sensitive skin with some broken capillaries and prescribed metrogel , which did nothing for me. Metrogel is prescribed for rosacea , but I never had any serious redness, just the normal flushing sometimes like everybody else in the world. Right now I have burning face pain and very oily skin , but no redness at all. Could I be allergic to something or is it something else?
Avatar f tn t use cosmetic products on the rash, although I sometimes use a moisturizer (not always). I have used calamine on it before but it offers no relief or change. Moisturizer helps at times-- not always. I take benadryl on a frequent basis for seasonal allergies and haven't noticed any change in the rash. As an aside, I also have rosacea outbreaks underneath my nose, for which I use Metrogel. I don't find it to be prickly heat either because I am essentially cold natured, and not obese.
Avatar m tn Wash face with Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, followed with a Clindamycin (antibiotic) solution followed by either Cetaphil Moisturizer and then a sunscreen (summer) or Cetaphil Moisturizer with built-in sunscreen (winter). Evenings: Wash face with Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser followed by Metrogel 1% or "Sodium Sulfacetamide1%and Sulfur 5% Lotion" on alternate evenings. Often I replace the Sodium Sulfacetamide with OTC Rezamid lotion.
Avatar f tn I've been using metrogel for a few months now for a place on my cheek. It's finally clearing up, but my entire face was scratched up today, including the area I typically treat with metrogel. Is the metrogel safe to use on fresh scratches and sores to continue treatment. If so, would it be good to also put the metrogel on my entire face to help with all the scratch marks?
Avatar f tn My doctor perscribed me Metrogel 0.75. I have been using it since Jan 18th 2010 (last month). For the most part I have been clear, however I still see some LIGHT red areas like they are fading away. Have I not used it long enough? BUT, I cleaned the house yesterday, and now today I have a larger red area in the corner of my eye..probably from sweating? My doctor reccommended I take Doxycycline 100mg, accept I took two pills and had total stomach pain -with or without food! My question is.
Avatar f tn Is it safe to use moisturizer on your nipples.
Avatar f tn The NP precribed metrogel for 5 days at bedtime. I havent found the courage to take it yet, because its inserted vaginally. The warning states its a category B and can be passed through the placenta. Has anyone else taken metrogel during their pregnancy? If so wad everything ok?
Avatar f tn at first i thought it was rosacea as i have had this in the same area but metrogel did not work to get rid of this. i then tried hydracortisone 1% and this takes some inflammation down but is not clearing it. any advice the rash seems to have spread and is not getting worse or any better.
Avatar n tn Hi there, For most of my adult life I have had persistently hard (but not flaky) skin on my forehead. It feels like an exoskeleton and looks thick and dull. So far, it has been completely unresponsive to moisturizers. (Even when my forehead looks like an oil slick the skin is still hard.) The condition seems temporarily ameliorated by exfoliation but really only for a day and my skin is too sensitive to exfoliate very often.
Avatar m tn I was tested positive for HIV this February. I have been an occasional user of MDMA via syringe. I tested negative for Hepatitis B and C. During the first week of June, I suddenly came down with a fever which wouldn't go away. Later the doctors found a lesion on my liver, for which I was treated with Metronidazole (Metrogel) injections, and later metrogel tablets. Recent CT scan shows "a cystic lesion on the liver, measuring 4x3.5 cms with a smooth enhancing wall seen in segment IV.

Avatar f tn When I get out of the shower or overheated, I have a pink spot on the skin just above my upper lip, touching the lip line. It's approx. 2 cm long by 1/4th cm high. There's also a tingling sensation at times. The skin there looks slightly different but I'm 62 and have had age spots burned off in my hairline, etc. I am female, never smoked, don't drink and have never had a cold sore or tested positive for HPV. I do not sunbathe but grew up in the south.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone...Recently I have been having several problems with the skin on my face. Up until about a year ago I had absolutely flawless skin. I'm 22 years old and live in Florida and used to go tanning alot but stopped about a year and a half ago. It started when I went on the birth control-nuva ring for ovarian cysts about 5 months ago and recently changed to yaz and have seen no difference.
Avatar f tn The doctor now prescribed Doxycyline for 1 month and Metrogel 1%. There has been improvement, but very slowly with 2 flare ups so far. It has been two weeks since I stopped the steroid completely. Will it ever go away? Will my skin return to the way it was before the steroid use? (I never had rosacea before) Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn Also, she was on Metrogel and she was allergic to it and it gave her second degree burns. She has healed from that but wonders if there are any prolonged affects of a problem like that. Lastly, she was on a steroid (diprolene) for years for the face (lupus). After the bad burns from the Metrogel, and it healed the dermatologist took her off of the steroid cold turkey and said to just use certain creams until the breakouts from the steroid went away.
Avatar n tn I have been treated in the past with dry ice treatmtents. Recently I have been prescribed Minocin, and Metrogel. The metrogel seems to burn my skin. Does laser work for Rosacea? It is $1,800 for the treatment. I am 54 years old and recently had my thyroid removed due to cancer. Could my Synthroid meds be aggravating this condition. Could these blisters be facial herpes, shingles. I have had this for about 6 months. I can't get into a dermatologist until September. Help!

Avatar f tn I took metrogel vaginally for bv at 31 weeks. Everything went fine and it cleared it up.
1554921 tn?1294370388 As my face cleared up, the doctor prescribed me with a topical metronidazole called Metrogel (which is supposably to cure Rosacea). Well i applied the gel as indicated by the doctor and it did nothing. 3 weeks after taking the antibiotic, my face was clear then my face brokeout again. I didnt know what to do, so i just delt with it and waited for it to go away alone.
Avatar n tn No temporary cure the best is the latest Clindesse 2% vaginal cream, single dose x 1 and that's it. Other options metrogel x 5 days, or po flagyl.
Avatar f tn m 8 weeks I recently went to the doctors and found out I have a bacteria and the dr prescribed me metrogel vaginal. Have any of you guys taken or are are taking this medication? Have you ever experienced any side effects? Any information helps.
Avatar f tn m asking because I have recurrent bacterial vaginosis infections - i have tried metrogel, flagyll tindamax, clindesse, i have it again.. I bought plain yogurt and mixed it with acidophillous powder and inserting it using a metrogel applicator at night, I always wear a liner because of bv anyway, but there is a LOT of discharge. Am I doing this right? has anyone else had good results with this method? how long should it take for symptoms to go away.
