Common Questions and Answers about Metrogel for redness

Avatar m tn Hi. I use the Rosaliac range by La Roche-Posay which is very helpful for Rosacea. Other good brands for redness are Eucerin's Redness Relief range and Clinique's Redness Solutions. A course of oral oxytetracycline will also be beneficial.
Avatar f tn You can use tacrolimus ointment for this.Using this rosacea often resolves the itch, redness, and tenderness of steroid-induced rosacea in 7 to 10 days with twice daily application. Complete clearing of steroid-induced rosacea usually takes 1 to 2 months. Sometimes clearing takes a bit longer. Avoiding rosacea triggers, such as caffeine, spicy foods, and alcohol, also may help clear the skin. But pls don’t worry as it is not a permanent condition. Hope it helps.
Avatar m tn Today I use Rozex Gel 1% which looks fair for maintenance but does not eliminate the redness, sometime I use Elidel for 102 days, I am affraid to use Elidel because I heard 2 docs telling it can cause cancer, but Elidel evidently remove the redness from the face. Any advice from the lovely people here in this forum will be deeply appericiated.
Avatar n tn I always wear Victoria Secret bras and I am wondering if this has anything to do with my present healing. I will ask my physician next week when I go see him for my 8 wk check. What do you think?
Avatar m tn In general, the Sulfa or Rezamid is for pimples/pustules and the Metrogel for redness. If any scaling I will use Elidel Cream which also can help the redness. Occasionally I just mix up two or three on my hand and apply them together. The above seems to work for me but you may have to experiment. Very important to use a very strong and non-irritating sunscreen if the sun is a trigger which it is for many with rosacea. I found the Blue Lizard Sunscreen products excellent.
1153266 tn?1262124135 I have been using this cream you apply to the redness called METROGEL i have been seeing dramatic results after just 3 days of using its amazing and has been definitely helping with this problem i definitely recommend using this try it!
Avatar m tn If you have any suggestions please let me know. I tried metrogel for a couple days but I stopped because I thought it was making it worse but I hear that you have to try it for at least a week. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I've been using metrogel for a few months now for a place on my cheek. It's finally clearing up, but my entire face was scratched up today, including the area I typically treat with metrogel. Is the metrogel safe to use on fresh scratches and sores to continue treatment. If so, would it be good to also put the metrogel on my entire face to help with all the scratch marks?
Avatar f tn I went to dermatologist who told me I have sensitive skin with some broken capillaries and prescribed metrogel , which did nothing for me. Metrogel is prescribed for rosacea , but I never had any serious redness, just the normal flushing sometimes like everybody else in the world. Right now I have burning face pain and very oily skin , but no redness at all. Could I be allergic to something or is it something else?
Avatar f tn Hello, Overexfoliation is not desirable and should be avoided. You may be having sensitive skin but if the redness persists for a long time, then prerosacea needs to be ruled out. In this, individuals generally come to the dermatologist for acne treatment and exhibit flushing and blushing episodes that last longer than normal. The prolonged redness usually appears over the cheeks, chin, nose or forehead.
Avatar f tn sometimes the ph of a partners ejaculate can alter your ph to allow bacteria to over grow so using condoms can help. You can try using metrogel vaginally regularly for a few weeks/months to help keep the bv under control. sometimes using oral and vaginal flagyl at the same time can knock it out for a few months.
493068 tn?1224765315 s more redness, more postules or more scaling. The Metrogel seems to work best for redness, the Razmid or Sodium for pustules (pimples) and the Elidel for scaling. Seriously considered laser treatments but seem to have it under control not to mention the expense. Like TnHepGuy, I was congratulated by one of my top doc consultants on finishing treatment but he said he never heard about tx-induced rosacea and would get back to me after checking around. He never did.

Avatar f tn m asking because I have recurrent bacterial vaginosis infections - i have tried metrogel, flagyll tindamax, clindesse, i have it again.. I bought plain yogurt and mixed it with acidophillous powder and inserting it using a metrogel applicator at night, I always wear a liner because of bv anyway, but there is a LOT of discharge. Am I doing this right? has anyone else had good results with this method? how long should it take for symptoms to go away.
Avatar f tn I am a 24 year old female. At the age of 12 I started getting a red discoloration on my cheeks, slightly above my eyebrows, and a little on my chin which was slightly flaky. I do have dandruff in my hair. I was diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis by my dermatologist at the age of 21. Not knowing any better when I was younger I tried everything over the counter for acne, but I didn't have acne. I definitely do not have rosacea because I never got pustules.
Avatar f tn An STD panel was run and everything was negative except for HSV1. I did not have a UTI. I used Metrogel vaginally once a day for 7 days. The burning subsided. About a week later I developed bilateral inner thigh pain 1/2 way between my groin and knee. That pain then turned into a strong burning sensation. My legs were hot to the touch, but there was no visible rash. I then started having pain when sitting down.
Avatar f tn One of my own daughters takes them when she needs them, a few times a year for a few weeks or months. Most of the time she is controlled by Metrogel. As you know, there are millions of permutations and combinations regarding how an individual might react to a certain condition and its treatment. As you now know I've experienced myself, docs are not correct all the time. I'm as smart as the next guy, but overall probably not smarter. "Luck and G-d.
Avatar f tn The NP precribed metrogel for 5 days at bedtime. I havent found the courage to take it yet, because its inserted vaginally. The warning states its a category B and can be passed through the placenta. Has anyone else taken metrogel during their pregnancy? If so wad everything ok?
Avatar m tn I was tested positive for HIV this February. I have been an occasional user of MDMA via syringe. I tested negative for Hepatitis B and C. During the first week of June, I suddenly came down with a fever which wouldn't go away. Later the doctors found a lesion on my liver, for which I was treated with Metronidazole (Metrogel) injections, and later metrogel tablets. Recent CT scan shows "a cystic lesion on the liver, measuring 4x3.5 cms with a smooth enhancing wall seen in segment IV.
493068 tn?1224765315 UTI and low humidity makes it go wild. I feel like I just can't handle this horrible pain much longer. My opthalmologist just gave me Lotemax reluctantly because of glaucoma. Is this rosacea suppose to be this paiful? I take Doxy daily, Travatan, erythromycin eye ointment. I am just at my wits end. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hello - I am 59 and have atrophic vaginitis. There is an area in the (introitus?) that has almost no skin covering due to the thinning tissue. It burns terribly all the time. I have had numerous vaginal infections over the past few months including gardnerella, a yeast inf., & 2 cultures showed large amounts of enterococcus faecalis & klebsiella.
