Metrogel for bacterial infections

Common Questions and Answers about Metrogel for bacterial infections

metrogel

Avatar f tn m asking because I have recurrent bacterial vaginosis infections - i have tried metrogel, flagyll tindamax, clindesse, i have it again.. I bought plain yogurt and mixed it with acidophillous powder and inserting it using a metrogel applicator at night, I always wear a liner because of bv anyway, but there is a LOT of discharge. Am I doing this right? has anyone else had good results with this method? how long should it take for symptoms to go away.
Avatar f tn The NP precribed metrogel for 5 days at bedtime. I havent found the courage to take it yet, because its inserted vaginally. The warning states its a category B and can be passed through the placenta. Has anyone else taken metrogel during their pregnancy? If so wad everything ok?
Avatar f tn Does your doctor plan on treating the infection? Bacterial infections are pretty common and they are easily treated, so I would not worry too much. I actually had one and was treated with a topical when I did not realize I was pregnant (like the first week of my pregnancy) and I am now 9 weeks and all is fine.
Avatar m tn So if this happens (bacterial infections) often, without a change in soaps and what not, for future reference, the tampons could be causing it!
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm almost 26 weeks pregnant I've had some type of bacterial infection for a couple weeks now. The Dr didn't say what kind exactly but probably bacterial vaginosis or something of the sort. My question is I tried metrogel twice as he said and it has not gone away. They aren't open until Monday should I go to the emergency room or wait until they can see me when I call Monday afternoon?
Avatar n tn I keep sweating and have discharge after I been treat for bacterial vaginosis . Ob gyn proscribed me tinamax oral for 5 days.
Avatar n tn 2 months ago I was diagnosed with my first ever yeast infection. I was experiencing some discomfort and burning during sex, also after sex had small tears at the vagina opening and on the inner labia. DR tested me for all STD's, swabbed tears for herpes, results for STDs came back negative. I took 2 diflucan's and was feeling better.
Avatar f tn But wouldn't they look for yeast infections in the check ups?! Like the Bladder and Bacterial Infections?
Avatar f tn I'm assuming you mean bacterial vaginosis. I just recently was in the ER for going into preterm labor at 22 weeks. They were able to stop it & discovered it was caused by BV.
Avatar f tn For the past 3 years I have been dealing with recurrent BV (bacterial vaginosis) and yeast infections. I have seen 2 different doctors and they basically have no answers for me, and could not offer any kind of insight as to why this is happening, and how to prevent it. All they want to do is prescribe antibiotics, which work for about 2 weeks, and then everything comes flaring back up again.
Avatar f tn Was diognosed with urea plasma and bacterial vaginosis the bv cleared on it's own and is gone confirmed 2 times by doctor.I was given metrogel I used 1 dose and had difficulty breathing headache and tremors.so the doc said stop med. Then went to see a gyno specialist and she said same bv and she removed a polyp from cervix it was benign she also told me I tested positive for urea plasma all my other std test are negative.HIv neg.no chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonosis all negative.
Avatar m tn Is this a serious question? Bacterial infections occur equally in men just as in women. There are numerous causes of infections.
Avatar n tn I am trying to get an appointment for my next day off for I know is BV bacterial vaginosis i need a temporary cure for this....please help.....
1054108 tn?1314298660 Has anyone was treated for bacterial vaginosis infection or yeast infection during first trimester? What medicine is safe to take for treating these two infections during 12w of pregnancy? My OB has prescribed me fluconazole 150 mg (one tablet only) for yeast infection and metronidazole 500 mg (to take for seven days) to treat bacterial vagnosis infection. She said it is safe however I am still hesitating. Please I need your advices.
Avatar n tn Clydamycin is an antibiotic, which should address trich, even though it's more commonly given for other infections- sounds like since the metronidazole didn't clear things up, they are just trying a different antibiotic.
Avatar f tn I was at my Ob/Gynlast week for a check up and he said that I had bacterial vaginosis (I had no idea! had no symptoms) He treated it with MetroGel and the day after completing the treatment I now have a yeast infection! I am very diligent about hygeine so I do not know how this could have happened. I am married and have only 1 partner and have NOT even been having sex very often because my libido has been non existent since feeling depressed.
Avatar f tn In mid-May 2011, I started experiencing typical yeast infection symptoms (clumpy white discharge and itching). A couple of days later, I started to develop a red rash in my inner thighs. This rash was not pimply, blistered, or significantly raised. I visited my GYN on Wednesday, 5/25 and he suspected an internal and external yeast infection. He prescribed a three-day course of vaginal anti-fungal cream, plus an anti-fungal and steroid cream for the affected skin.
Avatar f tn I've heard you can take monistat for a yeast infection. But I would talk to your doctor first. Treatment for a yeast is different than bacterial, and you should make sure you don't have any other complications before starting something.
Avatar f tn An STD panel was run and everything was negative except for HSV1. I did not have a UTI. I used Metrogel vaginally once a day for 7 days. The burning subsided. About a week later I developed bilateral inner thigh pain 1/2 way between my groin and knee. That pain then turned into a strong burning sensation. My legs were hot to the touch, but there was no visible rash. I then started having pain when sitting down.
Avatar m tn sort of watery and thick..It stated I had a bacterial infection. I believe I had it for some time now but never went to the doctor..but im planning on going soon as possible. I Just want to know what can I do to help with the discomfort or even to clear up in the meantime? I dont really smell anything..maybe a slight odor but nothing major.. Ive never had an infection before and never went to the gyno before..I was looking at rePHresh vaginal gel...will this help temporarily?
Avatar m tn I went to dermatologist #1 as a follow-up to a previous visit about a month prior related to a bacterial infection. He had advised me at that previous visit to stop using a cleanser (which contained 2% salicylic acid) and instead use an anti-bacterial soap. However, I have long had easily irritated skin and found the cleanser made it feel a lot better, especially along the jaw line where I shave.
7757724 tn?1396279586 m supposed to wash it out with water or just leave that area alone and rinse the outside only for the next 4 days. Also did baby turn out okay.
Avatar f tn I also have no itching or pain. This has been going on for a month or so now but i have been to embarrassed to go to my doctor. what could it be?
Avatar f tn Hi, thanks for the response. My partner and I have only had sex twice since I was diagnosed and we used a condom. I felt too sore down there. My symptoms are more constant, never in the past 3 months has it felt "normal" down there. Sometimes better than others . I tried the Rephresh suppositories and also douching with peroxide and water which seemed to help. 3rd culture came back negative but I douched the night before. I stopped about 5 days before last appt.
Avatar f tn hello...dosomebody kknow...diferents between-yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis?
