Avatar n tn I took 2 different versions of metoprolol, Toprol (metoprolol tartrate) and Toprol XL (metoprolol succinate). The second one is the extended release version. Toprol made my symtoms worse but Toprol XL worked fairly well in controlling my conditions, PVC's and PSVT. I was taking 50 mg a day in both cases. The only thing that affected me was a slight feeling of dizziness at times and some mental fatigue.

Avatar m tn It comes with a fair amount of pain that keeps me from doing things that I enjoy so the doctor prescribed Metoprolol. That got things under control. My doctor said that in very rare cases the heart can become filled with too much fluid. I took the echogram stress test to find this problem to begin with. But they did not push me on the stress test as much as I would have preferred.
Avatar f tn My currently cardiologist put me on metoprolol 12.5 mg as I am very bradycardic, sitting up and talking at 48 BPM and do not have BP issues, and says that this medication is more for my symptoms and not my extra beats...and that these are not harmful, no matter how I am feeling and they are completely begnin and are not going away, and just continue to reassure my self that I have been "checked" out.

Avatar m tn Im 20 years old. I work out and play competitive baseball in college which I thoroughly enjoy. I am very social with many friends. I see my family once a week while Im away at school. 2 years ago my pediatrician found my BP a bit high. I followed up with a Kidney specialist and had a doplar done, negative. I have seen 3 different endocrinologists to rule out pheocromocytoma and cushings and psueudo cushings disease, and they are ruled out.
Avatar m tn I went in for a stent and ended up with a heart attack when the probe hit a hard patch and cause it to collapse. I was put on Metoprolol and aspirin plus 2 blood pressure meds. I, too, had difficulty sleeping lying down, walking without having to stop and catch my breath, and urine leakage! Every time I complained, the cardiologist increased the dosage of the Metoprolol. Now, in addition to CHF, I have COPD and diabetes.
Avatar f tn My normal resting rate on 37.5mg of metoprolol is in the 50s/60s so I'm not sure what it is off of the drug as I've been taking it for 3 years. Triggers that bring this on are alcohol, heat/humidity, high altitude, eating a rich filling meal, over-exerting myself, rushing around, blow-drying my hair (as odd as that seems), getting over-excited, cooking/baking, being on my phone...
1717715 tn?1318300895 out of no where while i was on my prescribed metoprolol 50 mg, my heart skipped a few massive beats and then went from 65 bpm to 155. i got tunnel vision, nausea, dizziness, and severe sense of impending doom. went to the ER, of course, everything showed up ok. then for the next couple of weeks it would happen every/other day.
Avatar f tn I haven't taken the beta blockers (metoprolol tartr 25 mg) because my pulse hasn't been high and I take Xanax so I'm worried that it will bring my blood pressure too low. She feels that wouldn't happen. I will discuss it with my pysch at my next appt but in the meantime any thoughts? I hate taking any medicines and really don't take any except Xanax and rarely antibiotics. BTW, my WBC are high as well as my platelets. And my TIBC is low. Do these any relation to the thyroid.
193177 tn?1218694001 //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renal_physiology Nope, not HCV clear. I wish I was. It appears my HCV has gone into a remission of some sort. Its just not attacking the new liver. It should be the other way around since my anti-rejection meds suppress my immune system. Hopefully soon there will be a non toxic med for HCV that will get rid of this germ once and for all.
Avatar m tn At them moment they have me on a drug called Metoprolol. I take half a tablet per day. I don't think it is a cholesterol medicine.

Avatar m tn My experience with a beta blocker (Metoprolol) found it did squat to prevent them. It did make then easier to convert. I got 3-5 episodes per month. Will it be successful? Well that depends a lot on what kind of SVT it is, and where it's exactly located. But the odds are in your favor. Stick around and let us know how you make out. It's a piece of cake, very little pain, and you're up and around the next day.
5079728 tn?1365553589 Anti-microbial drugs (antibiotics) that contain fluoroquinolones, such as Avelox, Cipro and Levaquin, have warnings because they can increase the risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture, especially in patients over 60 years old. Beta blockers like Atenolol, Metoprolol, Nadolol and Propronolol have a black box warning for patients to be supervised by a physician while discontinuing use of these drugs. Withdrawal can cause severe exacerbation of angina and myocardial infarction.
Avatar n tn //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coenzyme_Q10) I've taken these for the past two days and my symptoms have disappeared! I have had ZERO PVC's since Thursday. Coenzyme Q10 is simply a vitamin supplement and readily available over the counter. As I am not a medical specialist I cannot recommend this as a treatment, but if anyone can ask their doctor and then try this I would be VERY interested to know if this has any affect on their symptoms.
4939681 tn?1361302899 Some may never 'wane' if the infection remains. How long have you had it? If you've read Wiki, Mayo, Johns Hopkins et al about vasculitis----- it's totally scary. But many people have lupus, have Wegener's, all the other nasty sounding diseases and can control them. They weren't malignant. Whew! If it were my path. report I'd ask for these tests: "Laboratory tests of blood or body fluids are performed for patients with active vasculitis.
Avatar n tn //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumin) chew them and swallow them with a glass of water. He said the effect will start showing in 30 days. I have started it and I find my bowl movements improving and I do not get the racing heart rate after a meal many times. But I am taking it for only 10 days now. And Yes ! He also said that if your situation is Acute add a tea-spoon of carom ( Bishops weed) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajwain) to the dose.
233616 tn?1312790796 //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HbA1c It’s theorized that this test is inefficient for those of us that are undergoing HCV treatment. The ribavirin obviously causes increased hemolosys, retiring RBC’s ahead of their 120 day schedule. This is thought to render the A1c test ineffective; people/diabetics that are undergoing HCV treatment with ribavirin should consult with their doctors remind them that this might be an issue to compensate for.
Avatar n tn My cardiologist has indicated that I can switch to Klonopin and use very low dose (my heart rate is very low--48-52) of beta blocker Metoprolol and this might work. He has added that it would not hurt me to use sleeping pill along with this if necessary. He is willing to experiment in trying to help me. My therapist is not. I would greatly appreciate any info you can supply that you feel might help me. Often I go for days on end without any good sleep and it's beginning to seriously depress me.
Avatar m tn The best guess they had was it was a new medication they gave me (Effient) combined with another medication (Metoprolol). Although I am no longer in the hospital, I think the problem is still occurring, as I wake up much as you describe, and my heart seems to be fluttering. I have on order a pulse oximeter, which has an alarm if my heart rate goes out of range just so I know it is really happening. Otherwise I have appointments with my GP and cardiologist in the next two weeks.
Avatar n tn When it gets to this point, the best action for me to take is chewing a Gas-X tablet along with half of a 25mg Metoprolol tablet. There is no doubt in my mind that the gas is the cause of my AFIB episodes. There is also no doubt in my mind that what is causing all my problems is known as "Roemheld Syndrome" - - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roemheld_syndrome.
Avatar n tn I told him I would rather wait but the pills do not help the pain at all. I am on Diovan for heart and Metoprolol also Levothyroxin for Thyroid. I can not believe there is so many of us with it and can not find out what it is. Please keep us posted if any results.
