toprol

Avatar m tn I am 38 year old.I was diagnosed of high BP(170/105mm/hg). I was prescrbed metoprolol 50mg and amlodipine 5mg. I have been taking this medine for a year. I have been regularly checking my BP ever since. It comes to 130/75mm/hg within a month. But Still I am taking the same dosage. My worry is : Is metoprolol and amlodipine safe to take?Since I am 38 only what would be its long term effects. That is taking the drug for over 30 years? Finally whether the dosage may be changed? Please help.
1464004 tn?1384139333 The metoprolol does seem to help, not as much for my PVCs or PAC, but more for the PSVT. It seems to happen less, is not sustained as long and slower, more like 150 to 160 BPM rather than my usual 220. So for that I appreciate it but the side effects are becoming problematic. As far as hair loss goes, I'm post thyroid CA and currently testing for recurrenceoso I'm already experiencing hair loss, so I really can't tell.
Avatar m tn Metoprolol is like the Tic-Tac of beta blockers. Lots of people take it with little aide effects. I take 75 milligrams per day, but have been on as high as 200 milligrams per day.The dose you have put yourself on is extremely small. Metoprolol's half life is approximately 5 hours. If you do the math, you will see there is very little left of the drug in your blood when you take your next dose.
Avatar f tn I am being awakened by vertigo about once a week from my sleep. The episodes last anywhere from 10 seconds to several minutes. The longer they go the more dizzy I feel. Moving makes it worse, but I can usually find a position that will make it better. It appears that lying on my back is the worst position. When I wake up, I have a low-grade headache & my neck is sore. I also feel disoriented a bit and even shaky for a day or two.
Avatar n tn Felt very good a few days with no vertigo or weakness. During this week, I also started taking metoprolol. Week 3 after injection and regular metoprolol: just 2 days now, still feel weak and dizzy.
Avatar m tn My most recent Primary Doc just switched me to Metoprolol Tarta 25mg and off of the Amlodipine to see if that was the cause of the Vertigo, sadly the symptoms are still there. I've seen the: ENT Doctor & Dizzy Specialist - All clear Neurologist - All clear (no MRI performed) Eye Doctor - 20/20 vision 3 Different Primary Doctors - Nothing stands out I'm at a loss at what else I can do to help cure these symptoms... any suggestions would be helpful.

Avatar n tn In good health except I take 15 mg Lisinopril which controls my BP quite well. And I take 100 mg x 2 of Felecainide, 50 mg of Metoprolol, and 3.5 mg of Warafin since July 2009 (which pretty much has stopped the Afib so far) for my non-persistent atrial Fibrilation which started in Jan 2008.. This all started when I fainted once in early 2008 after having afib. At that time Dr put a pacemaker in because my normal resting heart rate was 49-50. Could I have had a stroke today.....
Avatar m tn can i treat my vertigo with betahistine dyhydrocloride while on metropronol This discussion is related to wening off of Metoprolol.
Avatar f tn told Cathy I hadnt felt "right" in quite a while. Almost a Vertigo feeling..much hotter than I normally am all the time, just not RIGHT. She said maybe because of the HIGH dose of Metoprolol that Im on, my blood pressure is low. She asked when I had taken it last...I said with them..in April. She took it--- 170/100!!!! She waited 5 min and tried again--162/102. What the HELL!! She suggested I go home and just take it easy...and maybe contact my Dr to let him know.
Avatar n tn They might want to have you get an MRI to rule out acoustic neuroma (RARE and benign tumor of the inner ear) if they can't find another cause for the one-sided hearing loss and the vertigo episodes. (Even if the vertigo is now gone, it could be significant, so be sure to mention it.) Good luck, Nancy T.
Avatar m tn On metoprolol and paxil for anxiety, father had a history of vertigo, although this could have been due to Meineres or hypokalemia due to alcoholism. My question is does this sound like BPPV and if not what else could it be? Any other tests needed?
Avatar n tn 50 mg Metoprolol 3. 25 mg Hydrochlorothiazide 4. 325mg Aspirin (decreased to 81mg in 2 weeks) Those meds caused BP to stay at around 120/80, BUT in 3 weeks BP was at 160/100 with sever nausea and headaches for a few days in a row. She was hospitalized again and stayed in hospital for a week. All tests came normal again (CT scan, tilt table, Stress test, etc). She was discharged with BP 150/100 with Rx (daily): 1. 320mg Diovan 2. 25mg Hydochlor. 3. 50mg Metoprolol 4. 20mg Prilosec 5.
Avatar m tn 5. Vitamin D levels. Treating vitamin D deficiency may help reduce the recurrence rate of vertigo, according to study. Avatar n tn Good morning, I'm 54 (male) on metoprolol for afib. 1) Sometimes my pulse is so weak, I can't feel it on my wrist. Should I be concerned? 2) My low blood pressure is consistently in the 100's/60s-70s range which I surmise from this forum is from the medication. Sometimes I feel light-headed and a little dizzy when I make a sudden turn with the head - this is due to the low bp, right? 3) Is there anything I can do to increase my bp without taking another medication?
Avatar f tn I have not been felling 100% since Jan 20 of this year when I experienced my first panic attack. To make a long story short, I was put on metoprolol for fast heart rate, I have been off for 10 days now. My heart rate is pretty much back to normal I think. I still have a lightheaded feeling, that is worsened by a quick head movement. Sometimes I have a headache. My ears both felt full, and I had some mild discomfort behind both ears.
Avatar f tn Been on Atenolol (for 15 years) then switched to Metoprolol when the Aten quit stopping the palpitations. Well..I havent felt "right" for a while now. Tired, always feel like I have a SLIGHT case of vertigo..not really dizzy..but...off.... I kept up with my workouts and every other crazy thing in my life. Went to the cardiac workout place on Wed of last week to workout, and I was telling the tecnician about how I had been feeling.
Avatar n tn (1) I have never encountered a patient who had elevated liver enzymes from metoprolol, and I've prescribed a LOT of metoprolol. Anything is possible, but before implicating the metoprolol, I would recheck the ALT and think of another possibility. Moreover, most AST/ALT elevations are from transient viral infections or other unexplained phenomenon, and these go away on their own.
Avatar n tn atenolol caused me to have vertigo, anxiety attacks, right ear hearing loss, and short term memory loss......

Avatar m tn after that I had dizziness and sensation of fullness in my head and ilusion of floating without vertigo. My holter monitoring and echo and stress test were all normal. Brain MRI without contrast is normal. The nourologist started Betahistine (Betaserc 8 mg at nights) and the cardiologist suggested 25 mg of Metoprolol (Metoral) daily. The Metoral caused a fall in my blood pressure to 80/60 mmhg and I discontinued it.
Avatar n tn Thanks, I just had my check up on Tuesday, everything looked ok. I am taking metoprolol 50mg, it could be side effects from this drug? I had blood tests done yesterday and they are find...I feel very weak, not hungry at all, in the mornings until mid afternoon and then I recover a bit until the next day that I feel the same again...do not know what to do...the doctor cut the dose to 25mg, but I still feel weak. Any help is highly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Since I am taking atenolol I did not presented any episode, however two months ago I started to feel nauseas, dizziness, vertigo, and heartburns. I've never been an emotional person until recently when I've noticed I get more anxious than usual. After visiting the endoscopy room, and been prescribed Nexium to treat a minor gastritis, symptoms are still there.

Avatar f tn P. arrythmea, apnea, enlarged chambers. Sometimes blood O2 falls below 88. On Flecainide and metoprolol now. It aggravates the vertigo when I look up. What tests should I ask for? Plus my cardiologist ordered a stress test. Nervous over that because it's likely to cause popping inside my skull that always leaves a headache. Please respond. . Thank you.
264156 tn?1206990594 I just wanted to thank you SO much for your comment where you referred to "psycogenic vertigo". I have been driving myself batty trying to figure out what is wrong with me. I have at times convinced myself have a brain tumor or SOMETHING horribly wrong. I am dizzy for days and weeks at a time, and it's always when I am frazzled. I feel SO much better after finding out that this is linked with anxiety/stress. You are SUCH an angel!!!!! BIGHUGS TO YOU!!!! ...
Avatar f tn I was tried on various beta blockers to start with, but there was only one which didn't give any side effects. I believe it is probably because of the low dosage needed compared to others. I found Bisoprolol was the best one and it only took 1.25mg to have the desired effects. If I increased to just 5mg my heart rate became too slow, around 28bpm. At 1.25mg I could get my heart rate quite high, but it got there nice and gently. No sudden adrenaline surges caused it to suddenly jump high.
Avatar f tn Now that your body no longer has the Paxil, it could be that your Metoprolol dose needs to be adjusted. I would discuss with your provider when you get dizzy, ie do you get dizzy when you stand up from sitting? Do you get dizzy when you go from laying down to sitting up? Or are you always dizzy? There are medications that require a prescription that can help with dizziness. Most doctors will prescribe Meclizine to combat dizziness. I have included some information regarding this medication.
Avatar n tn (ototoxicity- damage to inner ear) which threw me into a state of almost constant intense vertigo for six weeks. The strange thing was that a neurologist, ear specialist, cardiologist and my G.P. had no clue as to the cause of the vertigo.. Three stays in the hospital, workups from each specialist, each specialist saying the cause must lie in the other's domain. It took a homeopath to figure out that the drugs were causing the problem. N Acetyl Cesteine cleared it up within 3 days.
