640719 tn?1277143630 I was just wonder if any of you have experienced Neuropathy due to your thyroid disease? I know I have experienced it intermittently numbness, pain, burning and tingling mainly in my toes for about the last 5-6 years. I have had thyroid disease for about 8 years that I know of. I'm not a diabetic. I was surprised when I discovered a article connecting this Neuropathy to the thyroid. Just wondering if anyone else can relate to this and add any info to the condition?

Avatar n tn I wound up in emergency. Was told by them and doctors it was diabetic neuropathy, plantar fascitis, gout, phelbitis, etc. I told them my blood sugar was always in control and this all happened when my pills were switched. I finally went online and found that there was a recall on Metroprolol and vast amounts of people were all experiencing the same problems. I don t know what to do. My new doctor switched me to cardeviliol and losartan.
Avatar n tn I also have a hereditary form of peripheral neuropthy and I think the Metoprolol is causing me some stepped up pain. I have thought that I should go back to see my electrophysiologist. Is my pulse rate too low? Does this drug cocktail seem appropriate? Would I be well advised to go back to the electrophysiologists? Can Metopolol cause a problem with neuropathy?
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy (numbness and tingling or burning) in the hands and mostly the feet. I have read that some people who take Flecanide have contracted Perepheral Neuropathy. Is this typical of all AF drugs. I am in Mexico, and a local doctor suggested that I switch to a drug called RYTHMOL. Has anyone else experienced Peripheral Neuropathy, or Rythmol.
15860670 tn?1443544854 Well you're in luck, because I take both Metoprolol as well as a Statin, so I can give you some advice. 200mg of Metoprolol wrecked me, and I'm a very active person usually. It felt like I was walking in concrete shoes. Every step was an effort, and any physical effort caused a heavy weight feeling in my chest. My heart just wouldn't get up to speed. Fortunately I was on that dose for about 3 weeks before my physician and I cut it back to 100mg.
Avatar f tn I have low blood pressure with standing. I have been taking metoprolol and midodrine. Lately after 4 months of meds I been having such prickling numbness its painful and I am weak dizzy had stiff neck apper bck pulling inthe muscles of my head. tingling pain on moving the head even just bending the skin. They checked for lyme disease negative but I dont know if its been enough time. Is a sweat test what I need they did a nerve test of arm and leg showed some arthritis.
Avatar m tn I'll try anything! I'm 45, male, never smoker or illegal drugs, hypertension controlled with Metoprolol (Lopressor). Very rarely do I have alcohol anymore. Married & 2 kids. Ok, I've had pain in back of both knees and down legs for over 5 years. I have had lots of testing and seen several doctor specialties... It started as a tingling in both knees for three days, went away for three weeks, then came back as a painful sensation and has worsened over the years.
Avatar f tn I am on 75 mg clopidogrel, 2.5 mg Norvasc daily and 50mg metoprolol twice a day. (and 0.4 mg nitrostat as needed) But they have had no impact at all on the frequency of chest pains or exercise intolerance. I am not Diabetic... my Gastroparesis is believed to be from either Autonomic Neuropathy or Mitochondrial Disease. I have been tested in the past many times for adrenal issues (including pheochromocytoma) as well as cushings, carciniods, zollinger ellison....
1217309 tn?1267053777 Oh sorry, he didn't switch my heart meds because of the Lexapro, he just said that he felt the Metoprolol wasn't working well for the PVCs.
Avatar n tn He has Type II diabetes, successfully controlled with Avandia, peripheral neuropathy in his legs and feet, for which he takes Neurontin and Ultram without a whole lot of success, and HTN, for which he is on Tenormin. His IM doctor has put him on Coumadin and Cozaar to help treat the a-fib. In my experience as a health care professional, I have always seen people with a-fib being treated with Lanoxin and Coumadin.
Avatar m tn Last year I the ER had to stop and start my heart due to SupraVentricularTachardia. The doctor thinks the 200 mg of Metoprolol I take to slow down my heart - combined with the Ribavarin, peg-intron, 200 mgs of Ultram, the 30 mgs sleeping pill Temazepam, and the 60 mgs of Cymbalta for 7 months - is what has dropped my blood pressure during treatment to 40/60.
886699 tn?1270783344 We tried this one but the side effects- bad stomach aches/abdominal pain was too much without benefit. One medication that helps lower heart rate is beta blockers either metoprolol or propranlol but too much can cause depression and fatigue. I know you have fatigue now but it can get worse. Fluorinef works by increasing the blood volume to get more blood to the brain but it is hard on the kidneys. Some people do well on Midrodrine too. Good luck!!
988870 tn?1284810404 Dear Heiferly, Sorry to hear you have not been well, I have several types of neuropathy, Peripheral neuropathy, Motor Neuropathy (Right Purneal Nerve-causes right foot drop for which I wear an AFO brace on the Right Leg), and Autonomic Neuropathy. I was Diagnosed with Autonomic Neuropathy approximately 4 years ago. Yes, I do have Type 2 Diabetes which was under very poor control for several years.
Avatar f tn I have had unexplained peripheal neuropathy since Feb., now going from leg to arms, in constant pain of varying degrees, been told I have Fibro, maybe Transverse Myelitis, or MS. So frustrated. Only thing that takes pain away is vicodin, which they keep telling me narcotics don't work on nerve pain...I am a mother of 2 small children & can't live like this! All started w/ my husband passing Herpes Simplex to me.
Avatar n tn I also saw that one my medicines was incorrectly written, I nowtake 100mg Metoprolol daily, and still having much difficulty with my heart and no real answers, although I know for a fact that when I am dizzy, having the Neuropathy(or whatever it is called) this too seems to be more present. it seems like my whole body acts up at same time and whatever all this is is only getting worse..I know it is on me! Thanks doc or anyone commenting.
Avatar f tn I'm wondering if any of this could have caused my problems I'm having. I do have Hypothyroidism. I'm on Synthorid and I take a small dose of Metoprolol for acute Atrial Fibrillation. I'm only 28 years old and I just feel like something has to be causing this and I would like to get to the bottoms of this. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.
550432 tn?1215136917 I do take a blood thinner called metoprolol, I had the same symptoms before I started them. Has anyone experienced this problem and what can be done about it? I am considering minimally invasive surgery, has anyone had that and was it successful? I am open to any and all suggestions.
Avatar m tn They gave me a prescription for a beta blocker called Metoprolol and told me to use this medicine if I had another episode. From 2004 to 2008 I had a couple episodes that could have been a recurrence of the atrial fibrillation but I never was sure. Then in 2008 after moving to Russia I had a definite episode that was very uncomfortable. I took 25 MG of the Metoprolol which seemed to have no effect. Fortunately, I knew of a US Family practice doctor who was in Moscow at the time.
Avatar m tn The cardiologist ordered lisinipril and metoprolol. I don't think I mentioned I have pulmonary fibrosis, maybe I did. Both those drugs, especially the metoprolol, I can't breathe on it and it lowers my HR to around 50 BPM.(bradycardia). Feels like I'm in a bear hug. Needless to say my Cardiologist isn't too happy with me, but he can breathe good, he thinks I'm a bad patient. lol. While I was having my heart attack they told me I would be in the hospital 4 days after my stent.
Avatar f tn In my daughter's case they tried metoprolol, midodrine, florinef, salt, ritalin. I can't remember if it was the metoprolol or midodrine but one of them caused her blood pressure to be extremely low early in the mornings. (I think 52/45 or something like that.) We did call the cardio and he had us adjust it taking half and changing times, but it still didn't help. At the time we didn't realize that hers was likely the 'H' form.
Avatar n tn I'm leaning towards just having the ablation and being done with it (likely), but of course I'll have to see if the cardiologist is on board. The ER doc gave me some metoprolol to take in the meantime, but it was a case where the cure was worse than the problem (very tired, dizzy, couldn't think well). The symptoms stopped when I stopped taking the drug (even though it was only 25 mg per day). I think I'd rather go get shocked every 6 months than take that every day.
Avatar m tn 38 yr man. Meds: Lipitor 10mg daily (4 yrs), metoprolol 100mg daily,81mg baby aspirin. 2 mos. ago began having symptoms. started with PVCs-heart palpitations and chest/body pains. Then had one day of cold hands/feet followed by tremors (vibrating sensation) (varied depending on position of body) in face and extremities for about week with PVCs. Then felt lightheaded with PVCs for about 1 wk.
Avatar f tn She is currently taking a beta blocker (metoprolol). This has greatly improved the racing heart, dizziness, and fainting. She has many other symptoms such as blurred vision, hot an cold flashes, cold extremities, insomnia, migraines, nausea, vomiting, continuous menstrual bleeding and continuous cramping. I may have missed a couple more symptoms, there are so many! She has so much abdominal pain from her cycle that she is vomiting a lot.
Avatar n tn My medication at the time was Alprazolam 0.25mg as needed, metoprolol 50 mg twice per day, clonazepam 1 mg a day. This mildly helped. I do remember a burning feeling inside my body, just under the surface of the skin. This symptom was largely ignored. I then was consulted at the Mayo Clinic. I saw several doctors there and had a five-star workup. My Neurological examination in 2007 was as follows: speech, higher mental functions, language, cranial nerves normal.
Avatar f tn I became extremely dizzy, extreme SOB, and felt faint. I was put on metoprolol 12.5mg BID but it did nothing to alleviate my symptoms so the medication was stopped after a couple weeks. I was sent to an electrophysiologist. The electrophysiologist diagnosed me with POTS and started me on Zoloft 50mg daily and Pyridostigmine 60mg BID. I also began a high sodium diet and began drinking a bottle of G2 Gatorade daily. After 2 days I had zero energy and all I wanted to do was sleep.
Avatar m tn Also, you say your EKG was abnormal- was it abnormal in that it demostrated sinus tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia or ? Tingling can come from peripheral neuropathy, poor circulation, and even as a result of a panic attack. You might ask for doppler testing to see if you might have peripheral vascular disease, which can be hereditary and can strike even as early as teenage years. Poor concentration I believe is common with anxiety.
