Avatar n tn My resting pulse is in the low 40's, and no, I am not a pro athlete! I also have an irregular heartbeat. So far blood tests, cardiograms and heart ultrasound have not uncovered anything unusual or worrisome. Anyone ever hear of anything that these 2 symptoms could be symptomatic of? I also have slightly elevated blood pressure (still just under 140/90).
876405 tn?1243511886 After the ablation I developed AF and have had an irregular heartbeat since as long with panic attacks because pvc's and a irregular heartbeats scare the hell out of me.. Just like everyone else here I get pvc's all the time and force me into the hospital constantly. I go thru stretches of time where my heart beats fairly normal but randomly goes haywire and I end up in er.
Avatar n tn I take 1mg of lorazepam and also the doctor put me on metoprolol for my fast and hard heartbeats. I have extreme anxiety over my heart, I think I'm having a heart attack almost everyday, but I know it is just anxiety. I hope you get better and know your not alone.
Avatar n tn Hi Carrie, That sux that it doesn't work for you. How long did you take it for, what other medication / suppliments where you taking?? I'm sure you've tried many things, one way I deal with PVC's when they get really bad is to do some breathing excersises, these really do help. http://www.dartmouth.edu/~acskills/docs/deep_breathing.doc Does Coenzyme Q10 Help PVC'z? 1 x Yes, fixed them completely. 1 x No, didn't work for me.
Avatar m tn Every time I reach the end of my dose my heart acts up, I can feel PVCs/PACs, irregular heartbeat, tachycardia and just my heart going crazy. My body is probably use to it by now and dependent which is why we are suppose to wean off these things but I was wondering if anyone else feeling these symptoms at the end of a dose?
Avatar f tn I'm taking Metoprolol 25mg twice daily. The heart doctor told me that this is the right med for me to slow down my heart rate and everythings fine....
Avatar n tn This was the first time I experienced an irregular heartbeat since taking these meds. I do have an occaisonal PVC, which I have had all my life. However yesterday it seemed more like a skipped beat--or that there was a pause between beats. Today I took a much longer ride, and was fine.
Avatar m tn Any theories on how exercise causes irregular heartbeats. I've been an athlete for most of my life.Well, now it seems that several hours after I exercise I get benign PAC's. What causes this? Is it lactic acid build-up or a PH imbalance? There has to be some reason for this? I want to keep exercising but these constant PAC's after I workout really suck. The weird thing is the PAC's don't usually start until a few hours after I work out. please help.
Avatar n tn But when i drink alcohol i feel fine, but the day after i feel very weird, my heartbeat is very strong and irregular .. It beats so hard i can see my whole chest/stomach moving, i get hot flashes and if i work out i'm faster in need of breath .. Is it normal? As someone told me, when people with anxiety drink alcohol, their symptoms are worse the next day .. But i'm not more scared after i had some alcohol. So can someone help me please? Sorry for my bad english, I'm not from England.
Avatar n tn However, when I was hospitalized for the heart attack they had trouble stabilizing my heart beat. I am currently taking 25 mg metoprolol twice daily and 150 mg rythmol four times daily. Whenever I do anything that requires physical exertion for more than 10-15 min. my heart starts to beat erratically. If I stop and rest, after a few minutes the heart beat returns to normal.
Avatar n tn About 25 years ago I started having heartbeat misfires for several months. Wore a Holter monitor, which showed the skips, but other tests (blood pressure, stress treadmill, EKG) were all normal. Was told I'd just have to live with it - that some people have this problem. That led me to research on my own. I learned that magnesium is a muscle relaxer (heart's a muscle) so tried it and found it really quieted things down. For more on magnesium check out these websites: http://ods.od.nih.
1097328 tn?1365559145 (Another doctor or two did not want me taking too much because of already a little low bp.) It seems to be helping my irregular heartbeat to an extent but I worry about the bp. Today my head hurt and right now as I type my arms feel kind of weak. I have not really had dizziness much. I get that anyway for some reason. I take three different meds- for thyroid, a benzo, and metoprolol. What do I need to be wary of should I need to contact my doctor? Low bp can be dangerous too.
Avatar f tn The cardioversion was successful, however I still have frequent pacs and ocassional episodes of rapid heartbeat (130 bps) which last for about 1 to 2 hrs. When I feel the palpitations for these episodes I take 30 mg. of cardizem and 1mg of ativan (to alleviate the anxiety the palpitations cause). This protocol seems to work well and rate returns to normal.
Avatar f tn With in just a week on the meds I was myself again! Then this irregular heartbeat started. It feels like a small rush of air in my chest or like a small wave of blood going the wrong way. Sometimes it's over and over for hours and hours! I went to a heart doctor who told me I have a valve that leaks back, and that it is so tiny and no big deal. He stated I am just so aware of my body and feel it. He thinks my thyroid meds (Synthroid) would not cause it.
Avatar m tn About 2 months ago I started experiencing an irregular heartbeat only lasting around 30 seconds or so. My cardiologist changed one of my medications in early July. That's when I think my current symptoms started. Now every time I work out, have sex or do anything that requires the slightest physical exertion, I experience the heart rate change. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Hi, thanks for adding your experience. I know what it's like not to have this show up on a monitor - frustrating (even though we don't actually WANT them to happen, of course). Can't remember if I've mentioned this in the thread, but I had a 24-hour Holter courtesy of my neurologist and the start-stop thing didn't happen.
2084975 tn?1332551556 Yes, I agree. I've mentione before here that there are probably many people misdiagnosed with panic disorder that are really experiencing a cardiac anomoly. I'd add that SVT is often fleeting, and by the time the patient gets an EKG, the event has passed. With nothing to see, the patient is diagnosed with having a panic attack. It was good that you persevered and it was "caught on tape" so to speak.
212059 tn?1292942129 Who wouldn't have anxiety if they are constantly monitoring their heartbeat. Here in these blogs, folks know how many beats, irregular and in between...it's amazing. Afraid to drive...go places...waiting for the inevitable Heart attack... Not going to happen. Our hearts are structurally normal. So, definitiley STRESS...(whether you think you have it or not), and hormones, and diet....dehydration (not enough water daily. and by all means sleep. That's when I have had them the worst.
Avatar m tn I have had intermittent a-fib for 3-4 years, along with irregular heartbeat. I have been on metoprolol for 3-4 years. About 2 years ago, I began to experience a lot of tiredness episodes, and my heart was in the low 50s'. It continued down to the 40s'. I was given a pacemaker Oct 08. Also at that time, I was having an episode of A-fib. I was succesfully reverted electrically. I am on 81mg aspirin and 50 mg metoprolol. At the time of the pacemaker implant, I was put on 100mg amiodarone.
Avatar n tn It has been two years since I first went to the er suffering from an irregular heartbeat and lightheadedness. I was given a echocardiogram, an ekg, and a stress test. The results of the ekg were normal, the echo showed a slight enlargement of the left ventricle. I am presently taking 100mg of metoprolol twice a day. This has worked ok in controlling most of the extra beats, but I am still having related problems.
Avatar n tn I took Metoprolol for a few years. The only side effect I had was the tiredness. My dosages ranged from 25mg to 100mg daily.

Avatar n tn I have been on Inderal LA for 20 years due to irregular heartbeats / mitral valve prolapse. Could this have damaged my lungs? How can I determine if I have asthma, I am afraid to try an inhaler for fear of palpitations and I hear not good to take an albuterol along with Inderal anyway. Is it normal for bronchitis to last this long, still coughing after 2 weeks? What are options for someone taking Inderal? At 44 do I stop exercising totally to try and stop this tickle in my chest?
Avatar n tn I have had my PCP tell me that my heartbeat has been in the 90 - 125 b.p.m. for the last four years. He put me on Toprol 25mg. I have been on Benicar 40 mg. for one year for a slightly elevated b.p. I called him a few days ago to inform him that my pulse was still high, and he doubled the Toprol. Now tonight, I had 125 rate, and I felt like my chest was going to explode.( No S.O.B. or chest pains) But my question, I have had a high rate that I know of since I was 15. I am 52 now.
