1679876 tn?1304747215 Hi, I urge you to talk to your doctor about maybe changing your Advair. It is a drug that has a "black box" warning. Studies are being done on this drug (google and you will find lots of info) to show that there are risks that might outweigh the benefits. There are several other medications for asthma that work well. Our EP says he would never recommend Advair to any of his patients.
Avatar f tn In my opinion, taking a drug which cures me, even though it has a black box warning, is a whole lot better than avoiding that drug and ending up in a pine box six feet under instead. However, one might be surprised at the drugs that have black box warnings. Many are very commonly taken and no one thinks twice about it.
5079728 tn?1365553589 "The only other PI's available possess black box warnings. " ----------------------------------- Ibuprofen and a myriad of other drugs that people take every day also have Black Box warnings. Shall we stop taking every drug that has a Black Box warning? That's a rhetorical question, by the way. "Anti-depressants such as Celexa, Cymbalta, Elavil, Effexor, Lexapro, Paxil, Prozac, Seroquel and Zoloft have black box warnings because they can increase the risk of suicidal behavior.
Avatar f tn You should talk with your doctor about taking advair for your asthma. Did you know that it has a black box warning concerning heart arrhythmias? Advair contains two medicines: flovent and serevent. Flovent is a corticosteroid for inflammation and serevent is a long acting bronchodialator. Serevent is the drug that can interfere with heart rhythm. When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent.
Avatar n tn If complications were happening frequently, it would have a black box warning. I think I understand what you are looking for -- you want a yes or no answer. My wife would want that as well if she were in the same situation. Unfortunately, the best we can say is what you already know. It has increased risk of fetal bradycardia and low birth weight. I hope this helps. Thanks for posting.
Avatar n tn Thats whats wrong with most dr's atleast in my experience in that they don't think outside the box enough possibly because this is what they learned. I think I/we can guess or prognose just as well or better than they can at times particularly if we know something about health and or ourselves and our own health. Never be afraid to speak up because I feel strongly that digestive tract problems are real and translate into other real nasty symptoms like this.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, I went head first and split open my nose, and now have a puffy lip and somewhat of black eyes. But, I do find that it may be after a stressful event and I was probably constipated and finally relaxed and/or I have eaten some rich foods. My husband suggested to take deep breaths more, and not hold my breath. I just don't want it to happen where I hurt myself again, more serious, and no one is around.
