Metoprolol and valium

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol and valium

toprol

10610562 tn?1411418414 So I told my doctor about the wonderful help the medication gave me, but the terrible effect on my breathing. I told her that I wanted to try Metoprolol, and she said that would be a good idea since it is a selective bb, focusing on the heart. I have been on the Metoprolol for a couple of months now and it just isn't working near as good as the Propranolol. My hands are shaky, my anxiety is not being reduced, and I am always extremely tired and fatigued.
505268 tn?1210817962 Now, my doctor wants me to taper slowly off the Valium, and to take a VERY LOW dose of metoprolol, if my blood pressure becomes elevated. The problem is that my BP hardly ever becomes higher, but my resting pulse rate has recently jumped into the 90's, probably because of my Valium taper. I am down to 29 mg of Valium, which is still not a very low dose, and this is suddenly happening. I am taking 7.
733362 tn?1489794936 no, I'm supposed to take lisinopril and metoprolol. I don't take either one. I stayed on Plavix for 18 months and Simvastatin for 3 years until I tore a muscle. I had a reaction to lisinopril, hives. The metoprolol makes your heart go crazy if you miss a dose and might be the cause of this headache. I take as needed. All that stuff has horrible side effects. Are you a nurse or something?
1027737 tn?1253103788 Hi, Can someone tell me what the difference between Metoprolol and Metoprolol Tartrate is? Thank You in advance!
Avatar f tn metoprolol is alright to take while pregnant, but inderal (propanolol) is considered the "safe" beta-blocker for pregnancy. Lortab is actually alright to take while pregnant in small doses, although not recommended. xanax is a big no-no, but like spade said you have to taper off of it. Valium's another no-no...actually i'm surprised they gave you Xanax and valium together, Xanax=alprazolam and Valium=diazepam and they're very similar in function.
Avatar n tn My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say. Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?
Avatar n tn He has the shakes so bad he cannot eat, becuase he cannot eat he is losing his appetite and strength. They put him on a beta-blocker Metoprolol. He coughs so bad he chokes.
Avatar f tn I recently had an exacerbation of svt requiring adenosine and an increase in my maintenance metoprolol dosage. I essentially lost a day of memory and have been forgetful and foggy headed. Just wondering if this is normal. I can't get any doctor I have seen to address this.
Avatar m tn You need to tell them about the side effects of the lisinpril and the metoprolol. The heart palpitations, elevated bp and sweating are withdrawal symptoms. You need to be on the bp med it is important. The benzo withdrawal, along with your bp and heart issues really need to be monitored. There are lots of other bp meds they could prescribe. It's not uncommon to have to try different ones until you find the right fit. What happened with the doctor you were supposed to see a few weeks back?
Avatar n tn I never know when they are going to come on and how strong they are going to be and how long they are going to last. The cardiologist has now put me on the 50mg of metoprolol/daily and 100mg of Flecainide/twice daily. Yesterday was my first dose of the flecainide and I ended up in the emergency room again. The doctor at the ER just sounded annoyed with me...told me nothing can be done, PVC's are benign. All he did was give me 1mg of Ativan for anxiety. I don't know what to do anymore...
Avatar f tn I'm 33 years old and prescibed Metoprolol for my heart palpitations, which happens everytime I eat food. After all cardiac tests came back normal, she mentioned that it may be stress related. I'm now being prescribed 20 mg Celexa for aniexty. I only take 6.25 mg of Metoprolol, cutting it into quarters, but are scared to take the two in combination. There are so many warnings about not mixing them. My heart rate has slowed down with the Celexa, but I still get the pounding sensation.
Avatar f tn I had, on average, 20-30,000 ectopic beats every day, and 6-700 runs of SVT per day. Most of my episodes occur at night. From 10pm to 6am, my hourly burden of PACs/SVTwas 30-80%. It starts in the evening and then keeps me awake constantly. The meds have all been a disaster. I have had two ablation attempts with failure to induce. The last ablation attempt caused pericarditis. I was.taking Metoprolol, which I have taken before and it always seems to stop working.
Avatar n tn I have frequent PVC's (often with bigeminy) and I also have lots of reflux problems. I have been getting a lot more PVC's the past couple of weeks. I switched from Toprol XL to generic Metoprolol, and I I don't know if that has had any affect. I have also had increased reflux issues during this time. I am getting more PVC's and bigeminy than normal and am noticing it most when I lean forward, especailly while eating. Does this sound like the PVC's are coming from reflux?
Avatar m tn t know Atelenol, but I do know Metoprolol and AFib. I am currently living with AFib and taking medications only to control, lower, my heart rate (HR). Metoprolol does the latter, as well as given unwanted lowering of my blood pressure (BP). So I am treating AFib as a condition that is treated for "rate control" and for "clot prevention", I also take warfarin.
Avatar m tn I have suffered with taking diltiazem(180 mg ER) AND metoprolol (50 mg ER) for atril fibrillation for the past two and a half years. The side effects have been debilitating.. Both drugs have the same side effects and together and one or the other or both create what I can only describe as chaotic turbulence in my chest and pain in my left arm when the second drug kicks in.. My cardiolgist now wants me to add a blood thinner (xarelto) to my meds menu.
Avatar n tn I was on a daily dose of the beta blocker (Metoprolol) for near lifetime SVT.  My GP doc said to carry a small supply, and chew an extra 50mg when my SVT occurred (generally 4 to 5 times per month) as it MIGHT help.  When I saw my cardiologist I mentioned this to him.  His comment was (with a slight roll of the eyes) "It doesn't work that way".
Avatar m tn There seems to be conflicting information out there regarding how metoprolol (and selective beta blockers) effect potassium levels in the blood... I know that non-selective BB can raise levels, but not sure how selective BB effect potassium levels. The reason I ask is that I like to have a high-potassium diet to control my palpitations, but wonder if I need to be careful how much I intake...
Avatar f tn Had an ultrasound done that came back normal, so nothing further was pursued. Now it is a year and a half later and I had a new test done and AST is 131 and ALT is 145. All other liver bloodwork was normal. Freaking out because I have no medical insurance. Last year my doctor told me she thinks I have fatty liver. I also take metoprolol for PVC's, which I just found out on line can damage your liver. Are these levels extremely high or what?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with PVC's 15 years ago and was put on Metoprolol 25 mg. I've now been diagnosed with depression and was prescribed Prozac 10 mg which I'm afraid to take now because of the drug interactions I've seen on the internet with these two drugs. Can I run into problems by combining these two drugs.
733362 tn?1489794936 I was originally prescribed 4, 10 mg valium a day, 4 Soma a day and 4 Vicodin a day. Those that I have shared with know the story. He was my Family Doctor for 25 years. It was after a wreck he prescribed all those pills. He was a nice guy all those years but, he opened a Suboxone Clinic not long before my accident. He was getting people on med's in one door and off them in the other door. Clearly a conflict of interest.
Avatar f tn My blood preesure has been low, with or without Metoprolol. I would recommend that you purchase a blood pressure device and monitor your pressure daily, to see how the med. affects your pressure. I was originally taking 100mg a day, which was cut to 50mg a day, doen to 25mg a day, and finally taken off Metoprolol. Your Dr. should know best, but don't be afraid to ask questions and don't give up until you feel you have gotten an honest answer.
19887518 tn?1486048647 I am so drowsy, tired and weak since starting Metoprolol 3 weeks ago. I take 12.5 mg twice a day with food for my afib. I wake up refreshed. Several hours later some days I feel totally fine other days drowsy. But everyday around 2:30 or 3 pm I crash hard. Very tired. After a 60 minute nap I'm still a bit drowsy but better. Now it's 11 pm and like usual I feel much better but still weaker than before the med. Is there any chance I'll get used to the drug and quit being so tired?
Avatar n tn I am currently on 7mg per day and my md is insisting that I need to get off of Valium, due to new DEA ruling and because I am now a senior citizen. Very dangerous they said and I was trying to explain, I have no issues with it. I have gone from 2 mgs initially 10 years ago to 7 mg in the last 5 years due to many issues in the family. I do not want to even be on this med, but the thought of having to wean down is very scary at my age and how long I have been on it.
