Metoprolol and valium

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol and valium

Avatar m tn I thought I wouldn't be as addicted if I only took 2 Lortab, 1-1/2 Soma and 15mg of Valium. I wanted off the hardest one first and don't want off Soma because I will have to take more Norco. I have been offered Percocet 10s and oxy but don't want the jones. I never thought that after I cut back to 15 mg that I was taking enough valium for a serious jones, I was wrong. It's a bad one. The others will be gone in a few weeks tops. Valium is a bad one. Why don't Drs tell you how bad it is?
Avatar n tn I am currently on 7mg per day and my md is insisting that I need to get off of Valium, due to new DEA ruling and because I am now a senior citizen. Very dangerous they said and I was trying to explain, I have no issues with it. I have gone from 2 mgs initially 10 years ago to 7 mg in the last 5 years due to many issues in the family. I do not want to even be on this med, but the thought of having to wean down is very scary at my age and how long I have been on it.
Avatar f tn The pharmacologic effects of some benzodiazepines may be increased by some beta-blockers. Propranolol and metoprolol may inhibit the hepatic metabolism of diazepam and other mechanisms may also be involved. Most changes have been clinically insignificant; however, increased reaction times and/or decreased kinetic visual acuity have been reported with some combinations. Observation for altered benzodiazepine effects is recommended if these drugs must be used together.
733362 tn?1489798536 I use GABA and at night valerian and, melatonin also drink sleepy time tea throughout the day. I stay away from fatty foods and anything with caffeine. Eat Lean protein fresh vegetables and fruit. Drink lots of water stay away from high sugar anything. That's what helped me. . I suggest you go to a reputable health food store and ask them.
733362 tn?1489798536 I would like to get off at 5, I hate the thought of dragging it out but I had a heart attack in 2011 and am supposed to take metoprolol for irregular HB.. I don't, can't breathe on it. It's a little scary getting off valium after 12 or more years. About kicking benzos, my brother kicks xanax every month. Thanks for responding Sonrissa The soap was handed down from my Grandmother. I tried it another time when my potassium was low and it worked like a charm, I was amazed.
733362 tn?1489798536 I could take metoprolol in place of valium, since the only problem has been the rapid HB and anxiety feeling in my chest. Since I have trouble breathing on metoprolol because of pulmonary fibrosis. It will have to be just long enough to get over the hump. I was told I was terminal by the Lung Doctor in 1999. When I found out the average life expectancy is 3-5 years I was devastated.
Avatar n tn The dermo treatment has been clobetasol cream, protopic ointment, oral prednisone, oral doxepin, clarinex, lidocaine 5% patch, and metoprolol. Her general md and heart doctor also gave her a shot to stop itching with no results. Some treatments were in combination and none has given her relief. Her other medications include Lipitor, vioxx, lanoxin, detrol, calcium, valium prn and ativan prn. She discontinued vioxx for 1 week with no change in symptoms. He discussed PUVA.
Avatar f tn The two drugs that will be given to me during the procedure are valium and fentanyl. Is the fentanyl for sedation? *Valium is the sedative and Fentanyl is the narcotic (pain reliever) 3. During the ep-study they will have to evoke my heart (tachycardia) is this uncomfortable or painful? I ask only because when i'm in svt i feel like crap. I get anxious and sweaty, I often feel faint and just a general feeling of impending doom. Will I feel this bad during the procedure?
505268 tn?1210821562 Now, my doctor wants me to taper slowly off the Valium, and to take a VERY LOW dose of metoprolol, if my blood pressure becomes elevated. The problem is that my BP hardly ever becomes higher, but my resting pulse rate has recently jumped into the 90's, probably because of my Valium taper. I am down to 29 mg of Valium, which is still not a very low dose, and this is suddenly happening. I am taking 7.
733362 tn?1489798536 Soma is great for pain. Been tapering valium, went down from 20mg to 15 then went to 10mg last year and hit the wall. Tapered too fast. I felt like I was shaking inside, irritable, anxiety feeling in chest. Had heart attack 3 years ago, so the anxiety feeling in my chest worried me. After 6 weeks on 10mg I said screw this, went back to 15mg and stayed there until a month ago. I was probably about to feel better, couldn't believe the 2nd 5mg drop lasted 6 weeks.
1340315 tn?1276024392 It sounds like you could be having nocturnal panic attacks. I do have PAC's and tachy and they have caught my racing at night..over 160BPM. I have very vivid nightmares that my husband usually has to wake me from...I have hyperventilated several times upon waking like that...I take atenolol which I believe may add to the dreams. I do feel hormones play a big part and daily stress that I can't seem to get rid of, I believe, builds up and releases during my sleep.
Avatar f tn actually i'm surprised they gave you Xanax and valium together, Xanax=alprazolam and Valium=diazepam and they're very similar in function. You really need to get pregnancy medicaid (you should qualify if your husband is out of work), it activates temporarily as soon as you're approved (you can go to your local health clinic and they should have a medicaid specialist there to help sign you up) . My recommendation for the moment would be go back to the ER.
503727 tn?1210442710 As soon as I get into a place I get so dizzy and my vision is all messed up. I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back. I still dont believe that its just anxiety causing all of this. I feel like I have something else wrong that the doctors cant find even though i have had bloodwork, mri, ekg, and they were all normal. I started taking .25mg of xanax once a day. still dont feel any better yet. So if anybody has any help please give it to me.
10610562 tn?1411422014 So I told my doctor about the wonderful help the medication gave me, but the terrible effect on my breathing. I told her that I wanted to try Metoprolol, and she said that would be a good idea since it is a selective bb, focusing on the heart. I have been on the Metoprolol for a couple of months now and it just isn't working near as good as the Propranolol. My hands are shaky, my anxiety is not being reduced, and I am always extremely tired and fatigued.
Avatar m tn I thought it was 'the usual', but it was irregular instead of just fast, and didn't revert after I did the usual tricks and took a valium etc, and it turned out to be AF. They think it was probably a 'one off' that people often get, but not sure. Of anything. I discussed the ablation years ago but the tablets controlled it so well that we all decided not to go that way. I know two fellas who had them and they didn't work either. I'll try to 'chill' and hope it passes.
Avatar n tn She smiled and looked at the nurse in the room and said actually no I don't think your crazy and I (she) just had a big seminar about it with the doctors around town. She said it is directly related to the hormones in a womens cycle. That's not to say it can't happen at other times of the month. There are "triggers as she said. Caffein, alcohol and so forth. I felt better. I take medicine for it and sometime right before my cycle starts I have to take more because it can get so bad.
687079 tn?1230952212 I was trying to sleep last week and by midnight, my heart would NOT settle down. Went to hosp and they gave me a valium and sent me home but symptoms still continue. It's got to be something else. I need to get to the bottom of this!
343765 tn?1202526132 At first my cardiologist put me on Metoprolol and that made me cloudy minded and super tired. Then he put me on Atenolol and that did not stop it. I went to an EP and he said that he wouldn't recommend ablation for someone my age from the spot he sees the PVC's coming from. So now he has me on acebutolol 200mg twice a day. I've been on it for two days now and haven't notice any clearing of the PVC's does anyone now if this medicine takes time to get into your system?
Avatar n tn My experience, my mom's, my neighbors and my docs as follows with TEVA generics which do not work or cause problems.....clonazepam, metoprolol, Wellbrutrin generic and oxycodone......they are like sugar pills, once put back on non TEVA generics all is well, very fearful for those with the generic Wellbutrin by TEVA.....people have gotten suidical .......that is scary ......this company is in Israel....FDA sure not testing efficacy of these drugs from this company..
733362 tn?1489798536 no, I'm supposed to take lisinopril and metoprolol. I don't take either one. I stayed on Plavix for 18 months and Simvastatin for 3 years until I tore a muscle. I had a reaction to lisinopril, hives. The metoprolol makes your heart go crazy if you miss a dose and might be the cause of this headache. I take as needed. All that stuff has horrible side effects. Are you a nurse or something?
Avatar f tn I am 23 and have been suffering from intense migraines for about 12 years. Seizuresfor about 3 years, but this isn't about the seizures.
Avatar f tn Anyway, my doctor wants to give me Flecainide 50 twice per day (no heart disease), and I take 50 mg Metoprolol in the evening and one 5 mg Valium in the evening as well (plus 324 mg aspirin daily). My question is three -old: is it safe to exercise regularly while on Flecainide (running 3-5 times weekly x 3 miles), and are the drugs mentioned safe together? Also, I am taking a variety of over the counter vitamins and minerals, for ex.
Avatar f tn Attacks could last minutes or hours and any combination of symptoms would happen. And in between attacks, my heart would regularly do many strange things - tachy, brady, irregular rhythm, extremely forceful beats, 'flip-flopping' feelings, etc. I also sometimes experienced a sensation of the heart stopping and restarting - immediately after the restart I would feel a MASSIVE, uncomfortable surge of adrenaline and the heart would beat very fast for a little while.
733362 tn?1489798536 I had to detox in HOSP. The Valium withdrawals are horrible and I had seizures. They did not have me do a Valium taper. I do remember getting Ativan iv then Librium for a week. I take clonidine a blood pressure medicine 3 times a day. Struggle with sleep, heart pounding pulse racing in am as well as on and off throughout the day. Waking up with the heart racing is scary. The anxiety can be overwhelming but I know in time everything will get better for us whatever symtoms we are having.
Avatar f tn So off to the cardiologist, I had a Holt monitor, ekg, and echo done, no stress test. I’ve been using 5 ml of Valium to help when symptoms arise... but as of lately my symptoms have been thru the roof! Shortness of breath, palpitations just from moving... I went back the the cardio and she prescribed me a 25 mg metropol once daily... but I think it’s making my symptoms worse! She said if it doesn’t work then I will have to go have an ablation done. And I’m freaking out!
612551 tn?1450025775 Thanks you so much for posting your comment about the drug interactions between metoprolol and grapefruit! My fiance wanted to eat a grapefruit and I remembered a reaction between the two...thank goodness for your help!!
733362 tn?1489798536 Doc Rx'd me 4 Lortab, 4 Soma and 3 Valium 10mg a day(I only take 1-1/2 10mg valium a day. If I had taken as prescribed I would be a drooler and a terrible addict. At 2 Norco, 1-1/2 valium and 1-1/2 Soma a day, how bad would withdrawals be? I still have 6 weeks worth and 2 refills from the Doc that got raided, if his refills are any good. I am still in pain while on these drugs, they just take the edge off. I would have been content to just stay on this low dose for life.
Avatar f tn Before my disc surgery I took valium because I was scared ----- and I did'nt want to take anti-d-s again.Good-luck!
1903111 tn?1333216654 They ache sometimes, and ring. Especially in L ear. Went to ent dr and realized I have hearing loss and tinitus and I was not exposed to any loud noises just the potentially ototoxic drug metaprolol. After doing more research I see that Rythmol is also potentially ototoxic. I wanted off all meds as I do not want to go deaf??? I want the ringing to go away and maybe my hearing in that ear will get better? I am taking Lipo Flaviniod for that (vitamin) No one really knows what will happen?
Avatar n tn Because alcohol is a deppressant of the nervous systen and the valium is to sedate or calm down the nervous sytem. If you do this you will see that I'm right. I've been taking valium for anxiety for 10 years and since then I've never had a panic attach either-- it's a graet safe drug and it's cheap. It does not affect your sex drive and it doers not affect your thinking and make you feel like a zombie.( like a lot of anti-deppresants) The doctors don't like to prescribe it-- why???
