Avatar m tn My anxiety is not well control, I'm med sensitive and can't take antidepressants like Paxil, Lexapro or even older ones like imipramine... 1 mg of Paxil send me to the ER and same for Lexapro, didn't had problem with both drugs before and took them for my anxiety for years. I'm on a high dose of clonazepam 7 mg day, I'm addicted and do a very slow tapering withdrawal... Will take years to get off the clonazepam.
Avatar f tn I was taking 25mg of Paxil and my doctor wanted me off of it. He told me to take a pill once every other day for 2 weeks then stop. It has been a week now and I am having dizziness and nausea. I have to work and I need some help. Any suggestions and can you tell me about how long these side effects will last?
Avatar f tn Hello, I am going to be applying to receive a medical marijuana card for treatment of my Tourette, severe anxiety disorder and PTSD. I take 25mg of Metoprolol Tartrate every morning solely for anxiety to slow my heart rate down (I tend to get anxiety episodes where tachycardia is the main symptom). I’m wondering if anyone (preferably a doctor, of course) would know if medical cannabis would interact with beta blockers, such as Metoprolol Tartrate.
Avatar f tn Boy, did I mess that post up! Let's try again: No problem. Just keep an eye on it. My wife suffered from panic disorder for many years and had heart rate in the 125-140 range during panic episodes. She was cured thru psychological counciling, along with a steady dose of Paxil, and an occasional low dose of Alprazolam. I don't know how a major forum like MedHelp does not have an editing function!....
238668 tn?1232735930 If, for some reason, I need an anticoagulant during or after my ablation (for blood clot for instance), will I be in jeopardy since I am taking the Paxil? Thank you. Dear dlb, I don't know of any interactions between blood thinners and Paxil. The likelihood of being placed on a blood thinner following an ablation is very small. Here is some information for you should that event arise. The following is information on warfarin and it's drug interactions.

12182312 tn?1427687556 Quick question And I still will ask my doctor about this, but wanted your opinion. I take Paxil for depression, well generic brand, and also metoprolol for fast palpitations. My paroxetine is 40mg, and metoprolol is 25mg. Are they safe to take together. Is one an upper, one a downer. I take Paxil in the morning, metoprolol before bed.
Avatar n tn 5 mg per day is there any chance that my body could build up a tolerance to it? And does the Beta Blocker weaken the heart in any way? Could those rates and there durations be caused be panic attacks and anxiety/stress? I had an ekg 1 month before this all started and it was normal with a NSR. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
Avatar f tn Then my Internist said even though I feel great now, I should still take the Prozac because during my cycle serotonin drops and I may have attacks and so on again. So, I am just taking my last 12.5mg dose of Metoprolol the next day and beginning day 1 of Prozac. I felt fine for 2 days then I noticed anxiety creeping in. It started the 3rd day with general discomfort and a little chest tightness. But, I had exercised earlier that day for 20mins and felt great.
Avatar n tn I have seen 3 cardiologist by the way and all have told me it's just panic and anxiety but they prescribed me 25 mg of Paxil for that (I have been taking 25 mg of Metoprolol on top of that 3 times daily for over a year now) and when I woke up on the 3rd day of taking Paxil I felt like my world was in fast forward...I kept feeling like I was about to pass out MANY times...went to the ER and was EXTREMELY dehydrated...scared me to death! HELP ANYONE?
612551 tn?1450025775 I will try again, this subject has not brought any responses in an attempt a few months back. I believe, and my cardiologist confirms it is possible, that Metoprolol (beta blocker) cause me to have unwanted dreams every night... never miss a night, or even a nap, always dream and dreams that are slightly upsetting. I like to call them troublemare not nightmare. I have tried, with doc's approval, changing how much and when I take my BB.
Avatar f tn My cardiologist called it Atrial Flutter, which converted to Atrial Fibrillation (not an improvement). To the point, with Metoprolol my resting HR is always below 100 and when really at rest goes into the 70s. I have no experience on BB taken with anxiety meds, but can say I don't recall ever reading of a problem. Seems this should be an easy one for your doctor... shows how much I know.
Avatar n tn I did start an extensive exercise/diet program ( no fads or drugs, just watching what I eat with lots of cardio) 4 months ago and lost over 30 lbs and was feeling better and stronger than I had in many years. Went to have it checked out and all tests came back within normal limits except for mild hypertension for which atenolol was prescribed in low dose. It seemed that this drug lowered my pulse rate even lower to around 50 and I felt like a slug.
Avatar m tn during second stage my BP rost to 170/100 from 140/90 and My HR went to 117. I had a flip in my heart and the doc stopped tread mill and said I have VT and refer me to a cardiologist. Did Angio and Echo all being normal. Had an event monitor for one week: The summary of Event monitor is HR varies from 40 to 140 with a sinus pause of 1.37 secs. No VT,VF with one or two pvcs. The events trigred by me or the machine finds possible VT or SVT, sinus tachy, or sinus brady.
Avatar n tn Now my doctor has prescribed 10 mg. of Paxil but I am hesitant to take it since drug interaction warnings and my pharmacist say it could lower my blood pressure too much. I do not want to return to the emergency room or experience the bad side effects again. Any advice? Is it true that SSRIs and beta blockers are not a wise combination? Is there an SSRI that works well with metoprolol tartrate? I do not have a history of high blood pressure, but I do have a history of anxiety.
503727 tn?1210442710 As soon as I get into a place I get so dizzy and my vision is all messed up. I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back. I still dont believe that its just anxiety causing all of this. I feel like I have something else wrong that the doctors cant find even though i have had bloodwork, mri, ekg, and they were all normal. I started taking .25mg of xanax once a day. still dont feel any better yet. So if anybody has any help please give it to me.
Avatar m tn I was sent home with metoprolol (which i didn't take) The next day i went to work and was fine, however i got anxious about what had happened the night before and i decided to go home and see my family doctor. I went through all the blood tests and another ekg.
Avatar f tn My wife was taking Paxil and had to take Tamoxifen followng her breast cancer surgery. It's a five year regime. Our pharmacy happily filled each prescription for 2years until one day my wife saw a news article claiming reduced efficacy of the Tamoxifen when taken in conjunction with Paxil. Eve the Oncologist hadn't seen the report! The pharmacist was aware of the report, but had no way of finding customers that might be using the combination of the two drugs.
Avatar n tn I will sometimes use them as a bridge through a tough time or as a bridge until another antianxiety medication kicks in -- like the SSRI class including zoloft and paxil. One of these may be worth a try -- could be as or more helpful than the beta blocker if anxiety / depression is a key issue. 2) Even though my cardio doc dismisses my problem, my EKG printouts are stamped "ABNORMAL". Do I need to be concerned about this?
Avatar f tn At the hospital my HR was down to 130-140. An hour or so later my HR was 100-110bpm and they gave me a 25mg metoprolol and sent me home with a script of it. 3 days later sitting on my couch I felt palpitations again. I tried the maneuvers like bearing down (which stopped it for a few seconds) ice cold shower, massaging the vein, blowing out with force, everything the cardio told me to try. I sat in bed for an hour or two doing breathing exercises and got my HR down to 78.
Avatar m tn Your symptom of dry mouth is likely not related to the heart medications, but instead due to the high-dose of oxycodone and paxil is another culprit for dry mouth. Spironolactone, metoprolol and simvastatin do not typically cause dry mouth. I would talk to whoever is prescribing your anti-depressant and look into trying another one. There are many different anti-depressants. Also, if possible I would try to cut back on your oxycodone to see if that helps. You are on a very high dose.
Avatar n tn I know we are all told not to worry about it, but as has been said before, I wish they could be in my shoes and feel these irregularities. Taking a beta blocker (metoprolol) does seem to have some minimal effect, but doesn't always work. As far as anxiety is concerned, for me that is not a problem. So I'm back to square one. As of now I am trying to find an alternative solution (vitamins, Coq10, et.) that will work for me.
Avatar m tn I was given Zoloft 25mg a day for two weeks, then 50mg a day, but was told they interact with Metoprolol and could cause the Metoprolol to build up in my system. Is there anything else I can take? I had to stop taking Xanax (as needed) because of the interaction with Amiodarone. Someone please help, I am losing it here. Thanks.
Avatar m tn On metoprolol and paxil for anxiety, father had a history of vertigo, although this could have been due to Meineres or hypokalemia due to alcoholism. My question is does this sound like BPPV and if not what else could it be? Any other tests needed?
Avatar m tn my symptoms are tremors, sweaty hands and feet, dry eyes, rapid heartbeat, tight chest,i can even feel my heartbeat through my left arm, dry throat, headaches, shortness of breath, restlessness tingling in my fingertips. The doctors put me on metoprolol lorazepam and sertaline an anti depressent about ten months ago my weight was 235-240 lbs i know weigh 170 lbs. It started about two weeks ago and even with the meds my heart feels like its going to explode.
375012 tn?1199220406 ive been on nexium or prilosec for 10 years now. Metoprolol for 2 months and xanax for 1 month. before the xanax I was on paxil for about 5 years. The changed the paxil to xanax because the paxil isnt good to take with the metoprolol. It just feels like im progressively getting worse. Im losing faith in my doctors. Especially when i walk into a cardiologists office and mention i have anxiety and im 28 yrs old.
572087 tn?1217127286 My SVT'S very from 150-283 beats per minutes was the highest one I was on Metoprolol but my Dr took me off that because I have low blood pressure and the Metoprolol was making it lower. Now I am on Ativan 1mg and Paxil to treat my anxiety it seems my anixiety triggers my heart into a SVT because I get so anxious its actaul been recoded on a ekg. Sorry I wanted to say the full story so you understand my question is can Ativan help SVT?
Avatar m tn I've been on Metoprolol 50 mg one in the AM and one in the PM and it makes me dizzy and makes me feel like my heart is squeezing and doesn't do grunt to really control my PVC's. I have a close friend who is a psychologist, my age, who has the same thing. He was on Metoprolol and complained to his doctor who forced the pharmacy to give him the real medication, Toprol. Toprol is the brand name. Metoprolol is the generic.
287037 tn?1232926802 A holter monitor will give an average heart rate for 24 hours. If your average heart rate is over 100 bpm and stays that way for months and other lab tests are normal (thyroid), it is probably inappropriate sinus tachycardia. Isolated episodes of fast hearts rates are other SVT or anxiety/panic attacks. Would this get worse from stopped bb, even though I was only on it for 2 1/2 weeks?
Avatar f tn I did not want to take the metoprolol and I declined the prescription for the metoprolol that the ER doc had wanted to give me--I should have at least taken the prescription because it was over a weekend and I could barely wait to call my md on Monday morning to get some metoprolol to control the shakes (full body) that came out of the blue and the rapid heart rate.
