471161 tn?1317194550 She said I was having an alergic reaction to Metoprolol. She had me quit immediately and take benadryl and zyrtec to recover for a couple days and then try a different blood pressure med.
Avatar f tn Before I used to take benadryl to make me drowsy and I only take it if I had work the next day so I can have a full night of rest. I also tried teas, bananas and hot milk, gave up coffee and dark chocolates. I did talk to my dr about it, my bp had gone higher and he says it also has to do with stress and the environment I live in, he recommended meditation and better diet. (He did not want to change my prescription yet until my next visit and see my recorded readings from home.
Avatar n tn She had her f/u with her cardiologist yesterday and was diagnosed with PVCs. She was put on Metoprolol, and told to go to the ED if she had an episode that lasted more than 30 seconds. There isn't much material easily accessible about the correlation, and the effect on her overall prognosis. She found an article that lumped A-fib, V-fib, PVCs all together, and then gave a 33-month prognosis of 50%, without explaining the factors related to that.
Avatar n tn I think everything is over and I clean up. I walk out of the toilet and in about 2 minutes time the stomach cramp and the fainting sensation comes back (I've fainted only once to date from this and was out for about 15-20 minutes). 6. When I get back to the toilet I have a really violent Diarrhoea episode in pure liquid state.
Avatar f tn I did not want to take the metoprolol and I declined the prescription for the metoprolol that the ER doc had wanted to give me--I should have at least taken the prescription because it was over a weekend and I could barely wait to call my md on Monday morning to get some metoprolol to control the shakes (full body) that came out of the blue and the rapid heart rate.
Avatar f tn I am 23 and have been suffering from intense migraines for about 12 years. Seizuresfor about 3 years, but this isn't about the seizures.
895798 tn?1241586100 Previously taking metoprolol and lexapro, but not for the last couple of months. NKA, no meds, no other past medical history. It started as a feeling of tightness around my hyoid bone that continued up into the posterior lateral sublingual area and then the posterior part of my tongue. No usual signs of allergic reaction, no urticaria, itchiness, redness, coughing or sneezing. At times it has seemed to get worse when I've smoked, and at other times that has seemed to help.
511019 tn?1214340923 I was given a small dose of Prozac and Metoprolol to depress the sensations and it seems to work. Unfortunately, the beta blocker lowers my BP and Heart Rate and therefore make me more prone to fainting then I have been for years. All in all my situation has improved as the years have progressed.
179332 tn?1273250959 I take Allegra for the allergy during the day and Benadryl at night. It took a month and a half for my allergy sympton to clear, the hives and swelling and burning feeling. Because of this I am stressed out and anxious, adding to the high blood pressure. Any solution to this problem anyone? Please share!
Avatar f tn I talked to my doctor and he told me to take Benadryl and Dramamine for the dizziness and nausea. The nausea is gone, but the dizziness is still there. I have to work and it is really hard when you are dizzy. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.
1209084 tn?1267371006 The surgeon was unable to place stents or relieve either blockage at that time, and they sent me home with three new prescriptions for Metoprolol, Amlodipine, and Niacin. My question is, how common is it for an angioplasty to simply be impossible to accomplish? And can the medication changes I've received clear these blockages and eliminate the need to have an angioplasty at all (with the prerequisite lifestyle changes, which I have started to do)?
Avatar f tn It could be 10 meds at 3-4 times a day. I've had 3 ablations and still have brief tachy times, PVC's and PAC's and occasional bits of chest pain. But I only have one pill (Diltiazem) that I take if my tachy gets stuck and won't stop. I'm not required to take it every day. Are all your pills related to heart arrhythmia?
567228 tn?1318359066 My doc is on vacation, but the lady filling in for her told me to stop the Methimazole and take some benadryl and she would call me in the morning to talk options. I guess I am going to try out the PTU because I am not ready for the RAI at this point, I want it to solve itself. I am hoping I don't get any eye problems from this though, it is scary.
544292 tn?1268886268 I stick with it because I can remember what it was like to be in the FOG of TRAM, to walk into a room, and forget why I was there, I stick with it because I would rather not get killed on my motorcycle from being too fogged to care what I was doing. I stick with it because my grandson tells me how nice it is now to only have to ask grandpa ONE TIME to be picked up. (Pappa? Pappa? Pappa? Pappa?
Avatar n tn Since then tb test +, chest xray neg, possible latex allergy, cat/dog/horse/maple tree allergy, flu shot reaction, mosquito bite reaction, peanut butter reaction, severe reaction to bactrim and balloons-both prev no problem-face like blowfish w balloons, large hives and tiny blood blisters w Bactrim. Lived on benadryl for next couple yrs. NEVER HAD ALLERGIES PRIOR TO THIS. age ~42, headaches waking me at 4-5am daily-went to a cardiologist. Placed on Hyzaar 50-12.
11849443 tn?1441306441 Meds like pseudoephedrine/phenylephrine, Benadryl and the cough syrup DM something, would not be sold OTC here. Metoprolol is only available with prescription here, I'm not sure if it's OTC in some countries but I doubt it. I know that Simvastatin has been discussed for sale OTC (I wonder if it possibly is OTC in UK in 10 mg pills) but so far it is not. In Norway, our cholesterol is generally higher than in most parts of the world.
Avatar n tn I was treated with IV metoprolol for the high blood pressure and heartrate and given ativan to help keep me relaxed while we waited it out. I also had hyperreflexia as well. later that night it happened again not as severe and the ativan was repeated. By the next morning I was feeling better, however when I walked or do little activity my heartrate would increase to 120's. It remained like that for about a week. over the course of the next 3-4 weeks I still had that anxiousnedd in my chest.
Avatar m tn not one PVC and no ST abnormalities at all, So my doctor suggested a beta blocker - metoprolol - which actually made the problem worse. So I was back at square one. I tried to narrow down what in the world could possibly be causing them. My husband suggested that it seemed my PVC's had increased since getting our cat. SO, I thought, hmmmm....PVC's can be a symptom of allergies, so why not try Claritin or benadryl. Well, it seems to have helped immensely!
Avatar n tn Yet, I can not fall asleep by myself and take Benadryl to sleep. None of my doctors think this is abnornal or is related to NCS. However, after reading the postings, I am beginning to think that this is all related. My doctor did say that it was my body's way of handling stress.
Avatar n tn It's gotten to the point where I do not expose my chest/neck ever - and cover up whenever I can. I had read once that taking Niacinimide could help - and I've been taking about 1000mg of it for a few months, but am not seeing much improvement. Anyone with any help or suggestions I would REALLY appreciate it.
Avatar n tn also there is a bump on the edge of my penis head that had peeled and gone away for a few days and re-appeared in the exact same spot which seems to have formed as a bump/scar(not as itchy)... ...i have very itchy bumps on my inner thighs and butt cheeks that seem to be getting worse. I also notice very very very very small blister type bumps on my fingers that i have popped and released some sort of fluid.. the bumps on my penis/butt/thighs do not seem to have any fluid in them..
Avatar n tn im taking a multi vitamin, fish oil, milk thistle, vitamin c, ibuprofen, and valerian root, kava kava, benadryl, and muscle relaxers to sleep. i find im only sleeping after drugging the hell out of myself with otc medicines. i went from the bed, to the hot bath, back to the bed etc for 3 days straight. i am only taking the hot baths now to help relax for sleep. on the 4th day i went and walked 2 miles, which felt great.
Avatar n tn I am a very anxious person and HATE to feel the skipped beats so I have been taking Propanolol (and I know the anxiety only makes them worse). I would like to be "med free" so I am working on finding out my triggers. I have cut out caffeine, alcohol, etc. and I am also trying to see if there are any foods that may trigger them. My doctor said that sometimes peppers can cause them??? I ate something with jalepenos last night and I definitely noticed an increase.
Avatar n tn Today I panicked and called the paramedics who came and did a 12 lead and they said normal sinus with one ectopic and so I didn't go back to the ER. I had a normal echo 3 years ago. I already don't eat caffeine or sugar. Please reassure or sympathize with me. I'm going insane and have no idea what's causing this out of the blue. Why would they suddenly increase for no reason whatsoever?
Avatar n tn Mine occur both as I'm lying down to sleep, and also when I awake, mid- or early morning. Benadryl works well to get me to sleep without the surges, but I haven't found anything that helps at 3:00-6:00 in the morning yet... They occur out of the blue - without my thinking or worrying about anything (other than the next surge), and usually don't stop on their own. Two types of rushes: (1) fluttering inside my head, then a warm flush over my head, (2.
Avatar n tn Now my eyes feel like they are crossed and when i talk to someone and look at them, it seems like my eyes get more and more blurry to where i have to look away. Everything looks dull and it seems like my eyes can't focus to objects correctly. Besides that, i'm always feeling confused and feelings of being in a fog...like everything around me is going on around me while im not there...occasionally i will get a twitch as well. I can't concentrate on anything nor think straight at all...
