I have POS and I'm trying to get pregnant is there something that I can do before I go to a specialist?

I've been diagnosed with PCOS and have been on Metformin for a month now and just had my first period in five months, so it definitely works. No weight loss though. Had a bit of a reaction when I first started it, but once my body settled into it, it was fine.

lots and lots of people that have PCOS get pregnant.. its a matter of identifying it and treating it.. for some people the medication metformin does the trick and will regulate cycles and ovulations.. others excercise, diet modification.. and some people need to go onto fertiltiy medications such as clomid/femara to induce ovulation.. but when there is a problem that is identified its easier to know how to fix it! so just identifying the problem is hlaf the battle!

Today i got a pos. opk on the clear blue easy and last night i got a positive on a cheapo opk.... today i have this like tingling feeling....i know that sounds super strange and i think i'm nutz just writing this but has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

Hello,Im 23 yrs old married for 1 and half years.I have very irregular periods.Dint get my periods dec,jan.So i consulted doctr,she said i hav POS And prescribed me Diamet(Metforfin)500 3 Times a day.I gt my period fr feb after havn medcine fr it,I gt my period fr march and april too.But for may i havent yet got my period,its late by 11 days.But i hd taken pyricontin tab (1st may-7 may) as prescribed by my doctr fr PMS expectn tht my periods wld cme arnd 8th of may.

ok so i started the supp. i woke up at 445am b/c my daughter woke up so when i put her back down i popped in the supp. and when i got up for good around 6:30 i had "discharge" some yellow like the tabs and then whitish for about the next 4 hrs. not a lot but noticeable to me. i also had cramping for a little while in the morning. is this normal? do you ladies put the supp. in and lay down for a while or just go about your day? i've heard of doing it both ways. whats right?

SO i have been on MEtformin since Jan for PCOS and I just finished my first round of clomid yesturday. I have been keeping track of my BBT and using the OPK. I havent noticed a drop or rise in temp but I got a positive on my OPK this morning. So my first question is could the OPK be wrong since there was no change in temp? Second and most important is that my HUsband got his wisdom teeth pulled yesturday and is on pain medicine for his pain.

I was diagnosed with PCOS almost 2yrs ago and and endometriosis 3yrs ago have been taking metformin...well i am now in a relationship and soon we are going try and conceive...i have been charting my temp and so far so good but i decided to take the first response fertility test...and wondering if it looks good.

I am taking metformin now and have had a regular period since i started it. I got my acl sugars(think that is what its called) under target 6.7 and am handling my sugars well. I am a few days late and was wondering when i should test for pregnacy? I dont want to get my hopes up and be disapointed.

i was on metformin for almost year and clomid for 6 months only conceived once and ended up with MC. also if you are over weight they give metformin to help you reduce weight as well especially in PCOS. PCOS is never shown in blood test you need a good scan... :) best of luck anyway... hope it works for you....

I got a bfp at 9dpo with an internet cheapie. I tested at 10dpo with the one that came with the preseed and it was pos but very faint compared to the one i did on 9dpo. I tested a couple of days later with a digital to confirm so I would say congrats!!!

Hi, I dont think Metformin is the cause for your problem. I have used it for more than 3 months and did not have any problem during AF. I have PCOS and hence metformin was prescribed for insulin resistance. btw why were you taking metformin?

I have been taking Metformn for over 3 years for my PCOS and never had an issue with kidney pain. I actually have had no problems at all taking it, I lost 50 lbs on it and stopped making cysts. my question to you is how much were you taking a day?

Is Lantus and Metformin ok to take or is the Metformin harmful to my liver? I know several with Hep-c who take Metformin.

Hi there. I am about to start metformin for my PCOS next week at the start of my new cycle. Will this help me to ovulate and help improve my chances of conceiving? We are trying for baby number two, this will be our ninth month. I was put on clomid 50mg to help us conceive our first baby two years ago. My transvaginal sonogram showed i have PCOS on my left ovary, but my right ovary was clear. I also have a tilted uterus. Would this hinder our chances of conceiving?

Metformin is a glucose lowering drug, phentermine is for weight loss and dicyclomine is for irritable bowel. You need to ask this doctor if he has run a glucose test on you and if he has determined that you are diabetic. I am a diabetic and I take metformin...if you are NOT a diabetic, ask the doctor why he has put you on metformin!! Metformin will lower your blood sugar and you need to be informed about possible hypoglycemic events...call your doctor now! Please let us know what he says...

One side effect of Metformin is weakness. Also, taking Metformin in quarters is below the recommended dose and is so minimal, I highly doubt it has any affect on helping to lower your glucose [blood sugar] level.

m having with my treatment. I have been diagnosed with PCOS for more then 5 years now. Originally I started on the regular Metformin but due to gastritis could not continue. While I was on it I lost weight my monthly cycle was regular. Some time later my symptoms re-occurred. I began taking Metformin XR (slow release) and suffered no side effects. However, my symptoms are getting worse and the medication is not helping. I am on a low fat low carb diet and get regular exercise daily.

I never did get my pos OPK (i kept testing and got it on day 28) but no ovulation until day 40. The Dr decided to try a mix cycle with 100 mg Clomid CD3-7 they menopur (injections) for 4 days after. I just started on clomid again today... we shall see. Good luck everyone. this is so stressful. i thought the 2nd time wouldnt be as stressful because i already have my son but i was wrong. it's worse cause i'm constantly stressed.

The cycle only lasted 22days I bleed for 4 days which is the norm for me. I am currently on cd25 waiting for AF. I was wondering has metformin regulated you gals cycle and was it consistent? You know 30, 32, 34 day cycles. If you laedies could tell me your experiences on metformin that would be great. How long did you experience the side effects? I ate fruit yesterday and it went right through me. I thought you shouldn't eat greasy food with it.

Hey, well I am on the same boat with you. I was test pos for PCOS when I was 15, and I am now 24. I was just put back on Metformin and Clomid since me and hubby are not TTC. Now PCOS sometimes give your a POSITIVE OPK when you are truly not Oing. Clomid also dose that aswell. It has been researched that some women with PCOS will have a false positive with OPK. I have been told to take my temp every morning first thing, that may also help with you with determining when you are Oing.
