Avatar n tn Every head injury is different with varying degrees of impairment. Find the best head injury specialists you can for your area. You can recover some brain loss with rehab and some things you have to learn to compensate for. Also, some head injury symtpoms get better as the brain heals, usually over the first year after the injury. You can find information about brain injury by contacting your state Brain Injury Association website.
Avatar n tn About an hour later he suffered a brief episode (1-2 min) of short term memory loss. He could not remember the weekend holiday or do sums. Other than feeling cold he did not exhibit any physical symptoms. He had another episode about three weeks later. A neurologist examined him and found nothing but set up an EEG. He has had no other episodes. Any suggestions as to what to ask during/after the EEG or what the potential cause might be? Thank you.

My question is could the buildup of medications etc cause him to now have memory loss, language skills loss and tremors in his right hand. He walked in to the hospital on crutches and now is dependent on a wheelchair.
Avatar n tn Hi, There can be many causes of sudden memory loss like head injury, stroke, meningitis etc. Certain drugs known as statins which are prescribed for hypercholesterolemia can also cause sudden memory loss. If you can rule this one out I think what she is experiencing is extreme stress that has caused her short term memory loss. http://ezinearticles.com/?When-Does-Sudden-Loss-of-Memory-Occur?&id=468044 If the symptoms persist then please schedule an appointment with a physician.
Avatar m tn Hello, I was diagnosed with syringomyelia and severe and mod stenosis. I've been doing rather well considering that they told me I would be in a wheel chair by now. Anyway I wondered if anyone else with this diagnosis has had problems with memory? My Nurse practitioner said it's normal then my wife looked it up and couldn't find anything on it. The memory loss that is. Nor could I. Any one know or have information on this topic?

Avatar m tn s a lucky girl to have you sticking beside her the whole time. It is not unusual for a head injury to cause some form of memory loss, and this is because these particular brain cells have been damaged as well. The body heals in miraculous ways and it IS possible for your girlfriend to regain her memory, and for these brain cells to be repaired. It will take time, and this will definitely be a test of patience for the both of you.

Avatar f tn Again there are cases where it is considered Concussion and suffered from memory loss, executive functioning etc., MRIs/CT scans can only show gross injuries and not at ultra-microscopic level. You can get an MRI and find out if you have any of that but it won't give how many lost. Just look out for symptoms and if there is nothing noticeable you just keep moving on.
Avatar m tn Hi about 7 years ago i fell from my heigh on the head and had a brain injury with a very small extra-dural hematoma non operable. I did not slept into coma and would have not by the way because the bleed was 1cm small and did not expand further, did not have severe brain injury symptoms except vomiting and drowsiness and headaches, did not necessitate rehab, did not have confusion or loss of consciousness.
