Avatar n tn Some patients may have problems in mixing up words for objects or can have trouble understanding or taking part in a conversation. Prevention in what concerns memory loss is whatsoever limited. Sudden memory loss cannot be prevented but patients who experience the symptoms of memory loss due to aging may keep their brain cells healthy and active with different exercises and dietary supplements.
1838299 tn?1403492543 Back when I was first diagnosed (94), my then dr - a gastro gave me a list of symptoms - and darned if I had not been experiencing them all. One of them was memory loss, especially short term memory loss. I was treated with INF - injections 3 x wk - and a side effect of that - taken from their literature was - you guessed it - short term memory loss! So I went from total recall to not being sure of anything on 2 accts.
Avatar n tn About an hour later he suffered a brief episode (1-2 min) of short term memory loss. He could not remember the weekend holiday or do sums. Other than feeling cold he did not exhibit any physical symptoms. He had another episode about three weeks later. A neurologist examined him and found nothing but set up an EEG. He has had no other episodes. Any suggestions as to what to ask during/after the EEG or what the potential cause might be? Thank you.
Avatar m tn After she stopped taking the pain medication (oxicodine) she has memory loss. At first it was little things, but now she does not know what year it is, how old she is, or that she just had surgery. She does have some memory, like she knows who me and my sister are and what she does for work. Another symptom is that she says her body is soar, like she lifted a bunch of weights. We are looking for any type of input/advise. Her doctors have been doing every test and scan.
Avatar n tn However, more importantly, since your memory loss may or may not be related to the Celexa, it could be that your memory loss is due to something else. Plz let your Doc know about your memory loss before thinking about quitting Celexa cold turkey. Example: your memory problems could be from your actual Depression not being taken care of. When I had my 1st Major Depression, I had a form of memory loss problem, and that was BEFORE I took any meds.
Avatar f tn Hi! I am in the process of having more tests done, but it seems my docs don't even know which direction to LOOK. I am a 35yr old female, w/ history of migraine w/ aura & several episodes of "complicated migraine". 2-3 months ago, I had an episode that they can only assume was a complicated migraine (MRI & EEGs were normal). The severity of the episode improved over 24-48hrs...
Avatar n tn In 2007 he had a hip replacement done and ended up having 3 operations within one week because of complications. My question is could the buildup of medications etc cause him to now have memory loss, language skills loss and tremors in his right hand. He walked in to the hospital on crutches and now is dependent on a wheelchair.
Avatar m tn Since Xmas until around one week ago he has had fairly rapid memory loss. Over the course of the previous week the rate of decline has rapidly increased, e.g. he does not know he is in hospital, where he lives, cannot really hold a conversation as he tends to respond with a random statement, and immediately forgets what he or you have just said. He is also starting to have hallucinations, e.g. dogs in the hospital, and seems to be increasingly paranoid, although he is generally happy.
Avatar f tn Hypothyroidism does cause memory problems, but I'd certainly want to explore your mother's condition more fully...if properly treated memory problems should not continue. It's quite possible that your mother is not being treated properly. Do you have the results of recent thyroid blood work? If so, please post along with reference ranges which vary lab to lab and have to come from her own lab report. Which meds is she on, and what's her dose?
Avatar f tn Before this incident, I had a fantastic memory. Since then, my short-term memory is horrible. Some examples are the inability to remember the events of the previous day, forgetting appointments, forgetting what I was about to say, and the worst one was when speaking to my mother, I forgot what our conversation was about when I was in the middle of a sentence. I have also noticed and decrease in patience.
Avatar m tn Hi, I hope you get more responses because I'd like to know the same thing. I really don't thing they cause Alzheimer's or Dementia but memory loss can be quite varied in degree. I've been on Xanax .5mg for anxiety, agitation, depression for about 2 years. About 6 months ago I've found that my memory is profound compounded by disorientation. Like you, I lose things break china and glassware regularly. Don't know the day of the week the date and even the time of day.
Avatar f tn I guess my fiance says I have memory loss since I was pregnant. Our daughter is a month now and I guess he says I see and hear things differently then how they happen or do things I don't know I did. He said it has been since I was pregnant not before. Has this happened to anyone?
Avatar m tn I've had memory loss due to vitamin B12 malabsorption, hypothyroidism, and severe stress. Alzheimer's is also called Diabetes Type 3. A book you might want to read is called Brain Grain by David Perlmutter M.D.
Avatar n tn I am a year and half post tx and I am experiencing memory loss, processing information (use to have a wonderful sense of direction) and just not myself. 562833 tn?1233756109 Does anyone or has anyone experienced memory loss over pain killers. I feel I am losing my mind half the time. I can't remember what I was about to do, or what I need to do. And where I put stuff, I am really starting to worry about this, along with all the other things, I am worried about. maybe this is just part of my OCD. I tend to worry about everything and keep stressing about it.
Avatar m tn re in an alcohol/substance related group - memory loss can be associated with drinking. It can be associated with many other things, too - from different medications, mental or cognitive health conditions, and even sometimes stress. I think it is very important that you speak to a doctor who can survey your health & lifestyle profile to work with what is known - and other factors that may not be known.
