Avatar f tn is it possible to get pregnant after taking the medication medroxyprogesterone? are my chances to conceive higher because of this medication?
Avatar n tn This is my first posting, although I have been doing a lot of reading, and you are all a HUGE source of support! I finally conceived after 8 months on clomid, however it resulted in an early miscarriage (5 1/2 weeks). The only time I have a "normal" cycle (29 days) is when on clomid. My doctor wants me to have a period on my own before resuming clomid. I was wondering, has anyone has had a normal cycle on their own after miscarriage, when previously dependent on medication?
Avatar n tn Hello- I am so sorry. I had a miscarriage on February 4th. I got pregnant 2 weeks after the miscarriage (so use protection if you don't want that to happen) so my period would have arrived around the 4th of March. I also had a miscarriage last November and i got my period 4 weeks to the day. My doc told me it varies from 3-8 weeks.
Avatar f tn I was wondering in personal experiences if you can get pregnant really soon after a miscarriage (like 1-3 weeks)? I have already had one successful pregnancy 2 years ago and had a healthy baby boy. We were devastated with our loss. Please give any advice and personal experiences possible...Thank you!
Avatar n tn I have light bleeding for 2 or 3 weeks now. Should I take medroxyprogesterone to restart my cycle?
Avatar f tn i went to my gyno and he wanted me to get blood work done as well as to take a prescription. he p[rescribed me medroxyprogesterone to take for 5 days and that would bring me period one which should stop the non stop bleeding. well after taking the medroxyprogesterone for 5 days, 2 days after finishing it, i got my period (a heavier one) passed that through for the 6 days and it stopped again. exactly 9 days later the light bleeding/spotting started again and it hasent stopped since.
706727 tn?1229096832 Ok I posted a question after my miscarriage in September 08. I was put on medroxyprogesterone to start my cycles again. I have been having regular cycles now 30 days exactly. But my only problem is that half way through my cycle I have brown spotting. Can anyone give me any advice??
Avatar f tn 12 I found out that Ibwas pregnant again, but having another miscarriage. My doctor has put me on Medroxyprogesterone to help. I'm hoping to be able to have one more child. There is hope for those of us who are trying to conceive after ablation.
Avatar f tn i had a miscarriage in january and have had on and off constant bleeding. my doctor said its because my prolactin levels havent gone back to normal but it's bothering me because i feel like i've had a light period for almost two months straight. is this normal! Please help!!
Avatar f tn Hi. I had a miscarriage the 2nd week in July. In September I was still having bleeding in between periods, almost everyday for 2 months. The PA put me on Medroxyprogesterone 10mg. I took them for about 2 weeks to stop the bleeding (from 9/10 to 9/20 and I missed a day or two). One of the other doctors in the practice told me to stop taking them around 9/25. I should have started my period on 10/4. It's 10/14 (day 40) and still no period.
237300 tn?1231458318 I had a miscarriage on June 18 and a D and C on June 19th. I still haven't gotten my period yet so I called my doctor today. She told me that I should wait two more weeks and if I still haven't had it yet she will give me Provera. Does anybody know if there are any side effects to Provera and why she would hesistate to give it to me? Also how long does it take to get your period after you start taking it and how long do you have to take it?
Avatar f tn I estimated that I'm around 4 weeks along. I want to be excited but my last three pregnancies ended in miscarriage. Is there anyone out there that's gone through several miscarriages and went on to have a healthy baby? Just need some encouragement right now.
Avatar n tn I was confused about some results i have gotten in past few months I posted earlier in the month. My gyno has decided on doing laproscopic surgery, she gave me medroxyprogesterone starting march 1 said I will bleed March 10, then go back to her 22nd. Is this normal for before this surgery? She also said she will remove what doesnt belong, and anything else she thinks needs to be removed. I just had abdominoplasty in november, I am very nervous. Is that progesterone necessary?
349601 tn?1219809462 OK so in feb 2006 i had a miscarriage and then again in april 2007, me and my husband have been ttc since about July 07 with no progress, then in september i missed my period and thought for sure i was pregnant. took a test about 2 weeks later came back BFN, i was very disappointed, but then in Oct i missed my period again took a test... BFN. so I went to the dr and he said it was stress and gave me some pills to get my period started then he said it would help me get pregnant.
Avatar f tn ok so i had a DNC done 7 weeks ago. the baby was dead and i hadn't had a miscarriage yet so they had to go in and take it out. well its been 7 weeks like i said and on the 19 of last month i went in to the ER because i was bleeding quite a bit and they put me on 10mg of Medroxyprogesterone or a more common name, provera.
1855970 tn?1325827213 back in january, my doctor started me on medroxyprogesterone (Provera) to induce my period each month because I had gone 6 years without a period. I take the 10mg pill on days 16-25 each month and my period begins 3-5 days after the last pill. It has been working just fine from Jan-July. My period usually will last 3-7 days. Last month (august) my period was very light and lasted about 4 days. This month, my period started very early (I had 3 of the pills to take yet).

Avatar f tn It's more or less explained to people so that if they do experience it they don't think they are having a miscarriage, and that it is quite normal. Now having said all that, if you experience any bleeding and are also having cramping - that is a potential sign of a miscarriage or chemical pregnancy. I would suggest that you purchase early detection pregnancy tests, and if you think you are at least 14 days past when you may have ovulated, test.
873692 tn?1337279333 If it is and it's only small amounts of blood I doubt that would cause a miscarriage. You can always call your dr back and discuss taking a drug that is not recomended for the first trimester. Find out what the risks and benefits are before deciding to use it.
Avatar n tn He told me it was a case in which my egg was never released so I was prescibed a hormone ( medroxyprogesterone) to help regulate my period and stop the bleeding. I recently had a miscarriage in November and afterwords experienced panic attacks and anxiety due to the situation. Last night was my first day to take the hormone pill and about 4 hours after taking it I was awoken from my sleep with my anxiety.
Avatar n tn To fully answer your question though, if by some crazy chance you are pg, then Provera would cause a miscarriage. But again, being that you've been to the doctor and they tested you, it's about 99.9% sure you're not pg. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I do not mean to scare you, but I think it is important to note, that there is a reason that they stopped using medroxyprogesterone as a pregnancy test... one because there are faster ways, now... and secondly, because it can cause birth defects when taken early in pregnancy (specifically to the genital area). Given how little time you have been taking it, though, I would say that risk is very minimal, even if you are pregnant.
143868 tn?1263932445 Hi, I am 32 years old and have not concieved in 12 years (I have never used any sort of contraceptives) Last year I lost alot of weight and a few months ago I had a miscarriage. What I would like to know is that if my period lasted from 10/06/06 to 15/06/06 could I already be pregnant?
Avatar m tn The medication that she takes to regulate her periods is probably Provera or Medroxyprogesterone Acetate. This medication will cause bleeding (sometimes heavy with clots) if the woman is not pregnant, and will not cause bleeding if she is pregnant -- it will not cause miscarriage. It is a good idea to use condoms whenever beginning a new relationship. Another form of birth control that your girlfriend might really like is the oral contraceptive pill.
Avatar m tn I eat healthy and workout and have no problem with my weight, no unexplained weight gain, etc. I thought I had a miscarriage because I fell on pavement and landed on my pelvic bone and that's when I started bleeding (my dog whacked me on the back of the knee as we were walking with his head). My ultrasound came back with what looked like pearls on my ovaries but the ultrasound tech said my history does not match with PCOS and that I may just be really fertile.
Avatar f tn The most tests have been run by a neurendo she did tons of tests, she said the growth hormone is there and low but she said it was bordline low. 3 years ago i had a miscarriage.
Avatar f tn she had me come and see her 5 days later to see if maybe my days were wrong or if the baby had stopped growing. when i went in five days later she confirmed that i was going to have a miscarriage since the baby was still measuring the same. it just so happened that i started miscarrying that afternoon which was very light bleeding nothing too extravegant. then next day on the other hand was like a running sink with clots.
Avatar n tn I had a miscarriage in Sept05 and my periods have progressivly got longer and heavier. Ive been prescribed medroxyprogesterone acetate (provera) to regulate my periods,on days 15 to 25 of my cycle. Was told it would not interfer with my fertility but all info ive seen clearly states do not use if pregnant. I could get pregnant then take the provera as i wont know im pregnant til i miss my next period. Very anxious about any damage i could be doing, any one been in a similar situation??
Avatar n tn I took medroxyprogesterone 10mg for 10 days,i start my period 2 weeks after my last pill
Avatar n tn It is a hormone like progesterone, one of the hormones that regulates the menstrual cycle. It is called depot- medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA). A shot of DMPA in the buttock or arm can prevent pregnancy for 12 weeks. "The Shot": keeps the ovaries from releasing eggs thickens cervical mucus to keep sperm from joining eggs. 99.7% Effective Against Pregnancy The Shot is one of the most effective reversible methods of birth control.
