Medroxyprogesterone injection

Common Questions and Answers about Medroxyprogesterone injection

depo-provera

Avatar f tn Hi, I received the depo injection on the 14th of November not knowing that I was at least two weeks pregnant. I found out this morning and was shocked, and now rather concerned. What are the risks of being on the depo injection while pregnant? Can it harm my baby?
Avatar n tn My doctor suggested that when I will start to ovulate, then I shd take my HCG injection. I want to know, what is use of HCG injection? And are there any side effects? With Clomid, I notice some discomfort in the ovaries and sometimes hotflashes. But nothing drastically painful. I don';t understand, why despite everything being so timed, monitored through blood work and Ultra sound, nothing worked so far. Any suggestions? I am feeling very worried and restless.
Avatar m tn She will need to make sure she gets the injection on time, every time for it to be that effective. In the end, it doesn't matter how many times you have sex, that doesn't increase or decrease the likelihood of failure of the method- it can happen if you only have sex once. It's really not likely this method will fail, but if you are overly concerned, you can also use condoms.
Avatar n tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Depo-Provera injection contains the active ingredient medroxyprogesterone acetate. It disrupts the menstrual cycle. It also causes irregular bleeding or spotting, heavy or prolonged bleeding, or your menstrual bleeds to stop altogether. It is quite effective in preventing pregnancy. This is merely an advice and not a substitute of clinical examination. Consult your attending doctor. Take care!

473883 tn?1322856638 These include endometrial cancer, myoma uteri, or secondary to oral contraceptive pills intake or depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (dmpa) injection. I agree with the plan of doing a repeat biopsy, hysteroscopy guided or dilatation and curettage. This will help determine the cause of the endometrial thickening.

1856888 tn?1325186544 usually best use of depo-provera is that you do not delay the next injection with in 1/2 weeks. i am not sure after missing one month when are you suppose to start provera. however with medication Normally the level of progesterone in your blood increases about a week before your period. If medroxyprogesterone is taken for 5 to 10 days each month at this time (ie day 16 to 21 of your cycle) it mimics the natural rise in your progesterone levels.
Avatar f tn Well, today is CD 38, and I have been taking 10mg of Medroxyprogesterone for 7 days to induce a period. Well, I went to the RR today, and when I wiped, I noticed some mucus that looked exactly like egg whites. I tested it to see how stretchy it was, and it stretched about 2 inches. I am SO confused as to why I am seeing this. I should be getting my period any day now... Did I just ovulate? Is that why I'm seeing that kind of CM?
Avatar f tn consult your doctor now..so that she can give you the right contraceptives method...
Avatar f tn Pharmacologically active levels are achieved within 24 hours after injection, and serum concentrations of 1 ng/mL are maintained for 3 months. During the fifth or sixth month after injection, the levels decrease to 0.2 ng/mL, and they become undetectable by 7-9 months after injection. DMPA acts by the inhibition of ovulation with the suppression of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and LH levels and eliminates the LH surge. This results in a relative hypoestrogenic state.
Avatar f tn The causes of abnormal uterine bleeding include endometrial cancer, myoma uteri, functioning ovarian tumor, adenomyosis, or secondary to oral contraceptive pills intake or depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (dmpa) injection. I agree with the plan of doing a biopsy, hysteroscopy guided or dilatation and curettage. This will help determine the cause of the endometrial thickening. Good luck.
Avatar f tn It hurts after the surgery, but that is inevitable. I am willing to try the injection Depo-provera (medroxyprogesterone) because one of my country – surround area friend who lives here told me to take it because she used to and it was very good. Now she decided to have the tube-ligation. She is doing fine after all. Any ideas anybody on this Depo-provera??? Thanks in advance and good Luck!
Avatar n tn Look it up on Wikipedia, there is a lot of information there. Depo-Provera does not have progesterone in it. It is a Contraceptive Injection (medroxyprogesterone acetate) manufactured by Pfizer Inc.
Avatar f tn Medroxyprogesterone acetate Polyethylene glycol 3350 Polysorbate 80 Sodium chloride Methylparaben Propylparaben Water for injection some of which are actually ingredients in the foods we eat every day. the ones that aren't are either hormones or non-thermisolic preservatives, such as methylparaben or propylparaben. So I would say that there's almost no chance the shot is the cause. have you spoken with a geneticist?
Avatar f tn My periods were very heavy and irregular before going on it and I was diagnosed with PCOS. So its been 12 months since my last injection as I am now in a steady relationship and wanted to see if I was normal after all the years. Ive had every symptom of being pregnant over 12 months - doctor even sent me for a scan - but to date no period or pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I received two injections, my last injection was January 2015. Since ending the Depo shot I have not had a normal cycle. I have only had spotting but nothing like my old regular period. My GYN put me on a 10 day course of 10 mg Medroxyprogesterone. After starting the 10 day course I started spotting dark brown blood on day 4, then I started spotting again after 3-3 1/2 weeks but it was still spotting but not like a regular cycle.
Avatar f tn Provera is also prescribed to prevent abnormal growth of the uterine lining in women taking estrogen replacement therapy. Other forms of medroxyprogesterone, such as Depo-Provera, are used as a contraceptive injection and prescribed in the treatment of endometrial cancer. Some doctors prescribe Provera to treat endometriosis, menopausal symptoms, premenstrual tension, sexual aggressive behavior in men, and sleep apnea (temporary failure to breathe while sleeping). Avatar f tn You should then get a new vial of progesterone in case the one you are using has become contaminated and is causing this reaction. Putting cold on the injection site will decrease the itching. Warm moist soaks to the area can decrease the discomfort if you have pain, redness, or swelling. If you develop itching or a rash that is more generalized to your body, report this to our office before taking another shot.
Avatar n tn Depo-Provera is a long acting form of medroxyprogesterone, which IS the generic name for Provera. So taking Provera won't reverse Depo-Provera.
Avatar n tn My last Lupron injection was in mid May and by June I was beginning to wonder if I was pregnant. Of course I don't have a period to go on due to the Lupron treatments, so the easy way to find out is not an option. The second week in July I finally went in to the doctor because I couldn't shake the feeling of being pregnant. Both the urine and blood tests came back negative. I left feeling a little confused but glad to know for sure.
Avatar n tn I have been prescribed many pills , taken the injection, none of which have had any effect.I have taken blood tests which do not show any worries, docotors have said the bleeding is not causing you a problem its jus an unwanted problem. i have had an internal check up and now have been booked in to have a IUS - hormonal intrauterine system.
1340863 tn?1366644684 My stimulated cycles consist of Gonal-f injections along with Cetratide. I usually have the trigger injection on day 10. I put on weight and get fairly emotional. The Cetratide stings but other than that, I seem to handle them OK. My retreival is on day 13. Just waiting for AF to finally appear so I can start.
280700 tn?1210287416 TOOK ME OFF AND INSTEAD GAVE ME METFORMIN, AND MEDROXYPROGESTERONE DO YOU KNOW WHY?? I DIDN'T GET PREGNANT I WAS ON CLOMID AND MEDROXYPROGESTERONE AND I DIDN'T GET PREGNANT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS? I AM REALLY STRESSED OUT? ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?
Avatar n tn I'm on medroxyprogesterone to have regular periods, i'm ttc, also taking clomid, for the entire time i've been taking medroxy (about a year or less) i've had regular periods, this time its been off, it started the same day its suppose to, but it was brownish discharge in the morning, and then some red later in the day but only when i wiped, and it was also mucousy, and then before bed there was a little more blood but not enough to even wear a pad, when i woke up in the morning there was almost
Avatar n tn I've also been on the mini-pill and Provera, and both of them contained norethisterone/norethinderone acetate and medroxyprogesterone acetate, which were HORRID progesterones...they made me gain 10 lbs, my boobs were constantly sore, I felt depressed, etc. But not with Yaz! Maybe younger women should wait until they hit perimenopause to go on the pill. In any event, Yaz has been a total blessing in every way.
318181 tn?1336447096 has anyone here taken ganirelix? I find that it burns and itches like mad for about an hour after... the injection itself is not painful if it is done slowly enough but after it gets really bad... so i'm open to suggestions how to make that better... good luck everyone!!!!!!!
